My first car was an 84 Supra. These are really fun cars and from a great era for Toyota. I'll never forget the first time I pulled up and my best friend shouted, "It's got pop up headlights! It's got pop up headlights!!!"

And same thing, at Cars and Coffee events - I see a lot of Porsches and Ferraris(granted, wonderful cars), but not one of these. When I had my Supra, I used to drive around with a friend who had a 944 and another friend with an 83 280zx. We were well matched. Each car had it's own strengths and weaknesses. I'd still take the Supra.
So great-my first car(high school car) was an 83 almost exactly like this-the original door handles and shade making wing at the top of the all black hatch. It had the bigger over fenders, black interior with the air-adjustable sport seats and analogue gauges. Mine had no pinstriping and sat slightly lower, but otherwise looked like this. Great first car for kid who wants to drive hard, but shouldn't go too fast. LSD, straight six, FR layout, and a great grand touring car that girls did not mind being in.
I'm 10 minutes into the video and everything you said hits home for me, right down to the Future Joust music. I hope you get many more years from this cool car !
It's not overlooked, it IS a classic and the prices match. I've never remotely seen an old Celica LET ALONE a Supra trim in the wild or at car show before. They are just that rare. I love them to death, but the MK3 is the only thing you can really get your hands on now and yeah it's heavier, but a lot more luxurious. I don't mind my choice of the 88' NA MK3 at all. They are the most driver-centric cars on the road that are still reliable. The intro to "The Raccoons" is also greatly appreciated!!!
Nah…Supras are cool but they’re not the most driver centric cars cuz after the 2nd gen they got too heavy. Miata, S2000, MR2, CRX, NSX, Integra/Civic Type R, AE86, all these cars are more driver centric than the Supra and just as reliable.

Since I move back here from the UK, I've seen one of these in rough condition in someone's backyard. I remember back in 82, I flew back to the UK to attend a football school for a week and visit my relatives. The Pro player who was running the course, Picked me up from the train station in Ipswich. He had a Celica (sell ee kaa).I enjoyed the ride and he also took me back to the station. When I got back to the states, I was driving mum and dad's crappy Buick X body and I stopped at the local Toyota dealer. I walked out with a sexy brochure but as a 16 year old, there was no way I could afford one. I moved back to the UK a couple of years later but they were well out of my price range at the time. I did go to a dealer that had a second hand MR2 MKI version and took it for a test drive. I couldn't get a high enough trade in on my Escort RS1600i to make the deal viable. I'd love to find a MK II Supra but for now, I'll make do with my '12 Genesis coupe with 27k on the clock. It's as close as I can get back to the old RWD days and I can blow away most people from the lights.

Im currently keeping my good eye on an 1985 Celica Supra Seller gave me a low price of 8k Everything about the car is in almost peak condition No paint pealing, no dents, scrapes, the interior looks fantastic for a 39 year old car Im waiting for a job to start saving Ive already ran the calculations and I’ll have enough by June to buy it Assuming it’s still available by then. I have a good feeling it isnt going anywhere
I imagine someone has already mentioned this, but the 'metal' on your stereo was for metal particle cassette tapes. My partner owned one of these, well, a 1985 2.4 litre Celica, in Australia. Had some real go in it, sold for $5000 in 2003.
I spent $8,000 on my 88' MK3 two years ago, so you can have perspective. NA Auto 115Kmiles and it was a garage baby. Was in incredible shape, but just being out in the wild a few months all the bumpers need paint and pretty much I need to slap down for a $5K paintjob on her. If there wasn't enough I've already poured $13K in her on misc stuff and cosmetics/leds. You got yourself gold there, I'm just glad I only had to replace leaking power steering hoses and not the entire rack, that must have hurt. You aren't going to find a more fun car though. NEVER let her go. Seems like EVERY MK3 Supra owner who lets them go (95% of them) regrets it and loves them to death. I cannot do that nor would I ever get my money back!
I had the 1981 10th anniversary special edition Celica coupe with the 22RE GT motor, fully modified from the ground up dumped so much money into that car in 1997. Make back my money dragged racing in NYC.
As a Tacoma local that spends a lot of time in Elbe Hill and near Tahhoma Forest. it feels like, splices of locations do not match wheres he driving. .
Jesus, just 4 years ago you could find similar condition ones for like 8k or less. I bought my 84 p-type for $800 ran reliably for 6 years no issues just looked like hell.
While you do mention the low power being kind of a nice thing, I think they really needed to bring the 3.0 Litre version, the 6M-GE, that Japan got to North America. The 6M-GE gave you 200HP, which I think would be perfect. 140HP is pretty uninspiring for a sporty car, and not a particularly light sporty car. I owned an 82, and I loved many aspects of it, but the lack of power was pretty funny. It is a beautifully designed engine though, Yamaha/Toyota made a smooth unit.
Toyota MK11 Supra was not turbo because Toyota engineered the first commercially available belt - driven double overhead cam engine that gave you the extra boost of horsepower, like a turbo without the complication of an 80s turbo
A clean mk2 supra like the one he's driving used to go from $4500 to 6k back in 2005 when I bought mine, I only paid $2700 for mine but it was in very good condition. TODAY one in excellent condition go from 12k to 15k, prices are nuts!
you didn't even have to explain why u shot it in your high school parking lot brother. if you know what's up you feel it in your soul and it feels so right!
You nuts get a Canadian edition of the super money Grab so-called Autobuy July 2023 issue rag and find the page with the highly used & confirmed miled out non engine rebuild Toyota Celica supra in Both 3 pedal and 2 pedal when the thing used two names in the car before it became it's own supra model & you'll see the desperate seller or car curber so-called dealer want $29K usd or over $30K Canadian for again a repaint & Non mechanical or interior Resto for this gen car , thanks but no thanks, I'll buy a 2023 Dastun Ztop Trim heated seat performance edition car over the Base stupidly named sport or Base model 2023 datsun Twin turbo Z.
That RV you pass by time 1400 was better looking than that supra you paid 14000 grand R U nuts I rather have the celica model U got riffed off donate and give that car to a young person he will love it and appreciate it that car is not for a old timer like you go plant a garden

No paint pealing, no dents, scrapes, the interior looks fantastic for a 39 year old car
Im waiting for a job to start saving
Ive already ran the calculations and I’ll have enough by June to buy it
Assuming it’s still available by then.
I have a good feeling it isnt going anywhere
Great video and music choice 🎉🎉
I had a 88 turbo I miss that car back in 99. Bought it from a nasa engineer
I imagine someone has already mentioned this, but the 'metal' on your stereo was for metal particle cassette tapes. My partner owned one of these, well, a 1985 2.4 litre Celica, in Australia. Had some real go in it, sold for $5000 in 2003.
i have a Celica too, I hope they bring this car back to the aftermarket scene, I want a ducktail, less weight, and auto to manual.
One of my dream cars here
Very very nice car ! Trying to get one, but looks to be difficult. Enjoy ;)
Mikes old car. Beautiful terra cotta
Great video! More plz!
What area of Washington was this filmed in? It's gorgeous!
I had the 1981 10th anniversary special edition Celica coupe with the 22RE GT motor, fully modified from the ground up dumped so much money into that car in 1997. Make back my money dragged racing in NYC.
Is that the molalla river?
Awesome!!!!
As a Tacoma local that spends a lot of time in Elbe Hill and near Tahhoma Forest. it feels like, splices of locations do not match wheres he driving. .
Overlooked? These don't exist anymore where I live
Love those cars
Jesus, just 4 years ago you could find similar condition ones for like 8k or less. I bought my 84 p-type for $800 ran reliably for 6 years no issues just looked like hell.
Love it. Brown interior does not go at all.
Sport model was the first car I ever drove in 1992.
Hey alliedcam1 i am 23 and one a 1977 toyota celica ta23 5speed and its all origineel
I miss my white 1983 P-Type Supra. 😥
Cue the classic tunes!!
Toyota MK11 Supra was not turbo because Toyota engineered the first commercially available belt - driven double overhead cam engine that gave you the extra boost of horsepower, like a turbo without the complication of an 80s turbo
I have a 1983 Toyota celica supra amazing car
Why is it 12" off the ground? Weird.
Too expensive now since they used to cost $1000 but now they are the price of a new economy car
If you don’t mind me asking, how much does it cost you? Curious what they’re going for?
A clean mk2 supra like the one he's driving used to go from $4500 to 6k back in 2005 when I bought mine, I only paid $2700 for mine but it was in very good condition. TODAY one in excellent condition go from 12k to 15k, prices are nuts!
you didn't even have to explain why u shot it in your high school parking lot brother. if you know what's up you feel it in your soul and it feels so right!
14tho is crazy I got mine with no rust mine came from Arizona to Illinois and I bought it for 2400$
Thanks you told me later in the video how much it was
That was a couple years ago. Car prices have changed a lot since then.
One of the best cheap cars is the last MR2. The "ugly" one. A little patience and you can find one for 5500 or so. No bias of course... lol.
“All completely analog “ 😂 literally has a digital gauge cluster .
Well you know....except for THAT 😅
pop up's 😁👍former tr 7 owner
Sarah n tuned is giving one away on TH-cam soon. I hope I win!!
I will sleep on it weird looking car but it look really nice in it's time with the back window louver I would not buy tha car for a 2000 grand
That RV you pass by time 1400 was better looking than that supra you paid 14000 grand R U nuts I rather have the celica model U got riffed off donate and give that car to a young person he will love it and appreciate it that car is not for a old timer like you go plant a garden
Man, I also love that digital gauge cluster.
I had a 1985 it was 190 hp. I could run with 5.0's and iroc z's of the time.
