- We're slowly covering every single Dragon Ball game in existence, but you'd be surprised to learn we have yet to talk about the one receiving the most updates. I finally caved and tried Xenoverse 2 again. After beating it in 2016, like many of you I patiently awaited what we all thought was an inevitable third entry. Come this October, seven years will have passed since Xenoverse 2's release. Let's see why Bandai insists on hanging around this one for so long...

I remember buying the collectors edition of this game and watching it grow for me is awesome. It feels so nice seeing a game I buy actually not die and get abandoned. I got the platinum such a long time ago and now I just always go back to check out the new content I’m glad I’ve played this game since day 1.

My character is 7 years old. I love xenoverse 2❤, as a dragonball fan it warms my heart to see this game still getting support 7 years later. Even more fun with friends too, easy to pick up and play with ym wife, who doesnt play fighting games. Its a great game and i own every dlc over these 7 years and it will go down as one of the greatest DragonBall games if not most supported. 10 million copies🎉🎉
I love xenoverse 2. It’s a shame that most TH-camrs I’ve seen play it have all said only negative things about it and xenoverse 1. And I feel like it led to a negative stigma when the game first came out but as time went on and the videos became less relevant xenoverse 2 has risen in favor of the fans.

I want to try out the 2nd one, since I played the 1st years ago. The thing holding me back is, as you stated, the negativity towards this game and how some might not like it. Personally, as long as the roster of characters is mostly viable (like using Krillin against Broly and being able to win), I'm willing to buy it.
It's fun but it gets boring once you max out your character and the pvp is trash.
Totally worth it, it’s better easier faster smoother than 1 it has its flaws and I love hating and loving this garbage game.
Pvp is only as trash as u make it, spam a ton and bore yourself silly or do something new fun and you and you can play it near nonstop for 2.5k hours since day one. It’s. Not. That. Bad.
The negativity stems from how they made the Ai at higher levels practically cheaters.
The players are either cheaters or decent. But like in any game its not always constant sometimes it’s mediocre but in the long run?

I’m still happy.
The flaws are only bolstering my resolve to overcome them.

I love this game, and I go back to it every so often because it’s a lot of content to cover. Having never played Xenoverse 1, it’s cool that I can play through the missions through Xenoverse 2.

Not only the Parallel Quests, the whole Story mode is playable. That's the best DLC of all DLCs.
To be honest, the mission farming was way way way woooorst in OG Xenoverse. I found this Xenoverse 2 better than Xenoverse in every aspect, like a big patch upgrade that fixed a few of the problems of the original game.
At the same time and for some reason i didnt get engaged in the same way with Xenoverse 2 as i did with Xenoverse.
Honestly, I couldn't even force myself to play the OG. Just not as smooth and quick as XV2 is, but that's just a preference. Considering it's just a remake of OG but with extra, I'll stick to Xenoverse 2
Came here to say this. At least XV 2 lets me get the Great Saiyaman costume right away instead of locking it behind a long mission where you're not even guaranteed to get one of the parts as a drop. And the mentor progress in 1 was abysmal (though 2 has the opposite issue where nothing stops you from speedrunning a mentor so it's ridiculous when they say how well they've come to know you when you just came to them 15 minutes ago... but at least it's convenient)

If you're talking about keeping your moves that's how they did it in the first one. If you unlocked final flash in the first game then ported your character to the second game you didn't have to go through and unlock the moves again. You already had it unlocked. I think you need to go back to first grade because your reading comprehension skills are clearly lacking because idk what you're even going about dlc and shit.

I think Xenoverse 2 is amazing. I've bought nearly every DLC, and probably will buy all at some point, but there's definitely some gameplay and presentations tweaks that need to be addressed in a new game.
Better not be implying another xenoverse game, because you're stupid as hell if you think that's even a possibility with $161.19 best case not counting sales and yes that number is accurate and about to get bigger, I've checked multiple times. you can't justify another game which only costs only just $50 or $60 and packs that much worth of paid dlc from a prior installment in it, point blank period. it's also tied to the breakers, which is still ongoing. speaking of ongoing, next year, dlc 17 in xenoverse 2, and more according to the road map. Calling it now, daima dlc, expect to see that in early to mid 2025. It feels so good to be right, idiots.
I'm planning on playing DBXV2 again, its been years since I played on my Xbox and I got it on PC awhile ago but never really played it. The nostalgia will hit me like a truck and I'm looking forward to it

One change I am NOT glad for is the fact that the Supreme Kai of Time will NOT shut up about this upcoming feature I forgot about already. It is WAY WORSE than Bulma's Hero Coliseum announcement ever was. The exact same message plays after E V E R Y S I N G L E B A T T L E as well as every time you returned to Conton City after doing something in another place. Even Bulma's announcement wasn't this bad.

For like 4-5 years ago a lightning struck near my house that destroyed my ps4. All my 160+ hours of progress lost, i only had a save file in the cloud from when i had psplus that was like 20% of what i have done. It was soul crushing that all that grinding for getting trying to mostly every technique and S rank on missions was all for nothing. Since then i haven´t even look at the game, but i recently found myself nostalgic over the fun times i had with the game and will again try to achieve again what i had and to go even further. I dont have as much time anymore to play games, but as long im having fun it will sure be worth it.

It will be interesting to see how a Xenoverse 3 would pair with Tenkaichi 4 coming out. There is definitely a market for both games and where both can borrow elements from one another.
Regarding your points @ 14:00 in reference to challenge based rewarding, there is a hint of it in game. Some loot is based of challenge, getting Z clear, killing a specific person in a specific order with specifically killing them with an ultimate attack. Example; I had a super soul I had trouble getting although I completed the quest 5+ times, low and behold upon googling the item I’m missing, I learned I simply needed to kill krillin with an ultimate, went and tried it and immediately got the loot as soon as I killed him. This isn’t the case with ALL loot but there are Some challenge based loot and some RNG based loot. Depends on the loot

I love playing this game but everything you say is straight facts. The RNG had me wanting to quit this game so many times, once you get everything it become less stressful and more fun
It's not a perfect fix, but you can select the music that plays when you're doing a PQ in the menu.
The upside is that the music will not cut out when you get too far from your opponent.
The downside is that the music will not change when it's supposed to when you're on the Default setting. It will be the same music from start to (ultimate) finish.
have you tried to change the music from default setting? cause if you dont then the distance between you and enemy will cause the music to vanish.....?????
Is it worth getting the special edition? Like it has every dlc and is at $30. I have played dbx2 up the Black Goku and Zamasu on the ps4 but after I got the ps5 I stopped playing. And since I have lost the disk version of the game I can’t access it unless I buy it again. So I’m wondering if the content that came after that is worth it? Or I should wait for the xenoverse (I will be getting the te Kai chi regardless) .

I straight up HATE the fact that they have the Supreme Kai of Time as a playable character, but she can ONLY be unlocked by participating in a specific tournament in the game that APPARENTLY still happens every once and a while, but I think that's stupid as hell and they should just give her to us as a free DLC character already cuz I hate going into the character select and seeing a locked slot just sitting there

I have 2 gripes , the dlc amount and prices without a full edition with all in it like borderlands do, and that the characters basic fighting move set cant be changed and that the combo gets real old when you look at the basic hit/kicks

The only thing that I have grinned are some super souls in some missions. The rest I get from crystal raids for clothes and double crystal raids for moves. The only three things that I have actually grinned are Super Mix capsule z, Demon realm crystals, and the dragon balls to unlock all the characters, the super attack, and the ultimate attacks. I do agree this game is fun with friends. I believe that you have not experience crystal raids yet.

I know im going to wait for way too long, and it might not even happen, but I'm hoping we eventually get a complete edition with all the DLC later down the line. I don't know how that would work if they shutdown the online aspect, but there's way too much dlc!

Last year i had some weeks where i was really into xenoverse and i got a lot of dlcs really cheap. The game i have to admit is pretty good and really fun they went all in.
Btw as far as i know, they were gonna drop the game and start a new one, but the people wanted more and more and moar
I’ve had xenoverse 2 ever since launch along with having every single DLC pack in the game tbh I think this game is really good. Compared to 1’s combat, color contrast, more Maps, essentially everything you’d expect from a sequel it’s a step up from its predecessor. Btw idk why but it bugged me a little that you don’t know how to side step it was that itch I couldn’t stop scratching lol.

I LOVE this game. I played through it on PS4. I played through it on Switch. I own it on PC and love using mods with it.
It is not perfect, but there's so much content, so much customization, the things they added in updates made the game truly an actually really good game.

I love Xenoverse 2. I do agree Xenoverse 1 brought it out with 2 just making it better. Mostly everyone does choose Sayian but like you are using Namekian, i love being the Frieza Race. The story mode had changed than just a repeat of the first one and along with many Free Updates, DLC's gave you more story missions with great cutscenes! The roster is gigantic and how you can have alternate options in Parallel Quests/Story missions was a good touch. Overall, a super fun game that so many people still play. With all the DLC's coming i don't think we will get Xenoverse 3 anytime soon but i love how much they keep giving.

So I just finished playing dragon ball Kakarot, and the combat is definitely more polished in some aspects but it’s not as in depth as Xeno verse two is. I’m still learning Zeno verse two, but as of right now for its price on steam and the dlcs, a lot of that stuff is definitely worth it
nice review, im playing kakartot right now and i love it (mostly) except the side quests or open world seems like an after thought seems like a very old kind of open wold like gta vice city.
i wanted to ask whats with the filter on the video , colour seems so greyed out. in the gameplay of xenoverse 2.
Aside from the RNG, I don't have a problem with most of those issues. But what holds XV2 back to me is the local multiplayer content. It lags a lot (at least on the vanilla PS4), and it is so limiting. Even the map selection is ridiculously small, probably less than a third of all maps available in the game. And there's no martial arts tournament mode, which should be a given in any DBZ game.

The first Xenoverse game was such a pleasure to play when it was released. I'm a sucker for time travel storylines, so getting that kind of experience in the Dragon Ball universe was a dream come true. Especially with your own custom character.
Even though mechanically XV2 is absolutely the superior game. They pretty much dropped the ball on everything else. Story mode just wasn't as good and felt like they took less chances (having you switch bodies with Ginyu instead of Goku? brilliant). Also Demigra is an incredible villain. I'm sorry but Mira and Towa are just bland and uninteresting. But the worst offense was the copy and paste of most of the PQs. Already played many of these missions dozens of times and I need to do it again? Needless to say I got burned out very quickly.
Glad to see all the support it's gotten over the years, but it's hard not to look back at in on it's original release and not think that this could have just been DLC for the first game.

I love this game and I think they plan on just updating xenoverse 2 and dropping more DLC. I just saw a few weeks ago that they are going to be adding more content soon.

Xenoverse 2 is almost a perfect game. Truly one of the best dbz games out there. The content, freedom, creativity, fun and gameplay is amazing. It also has a refreshing take on the tenkaichi series. Xeno 1 was great, but xeno 2 improved almost in every way.

Saying it’s almost perfect is so far from true. There are an insane amount of design errors creativity flaws and wasted potential. If wasted potential was the deciding factor for a game it would be the WORST dbz game of all time.

The first that to do in this game is to turn the in-game brightness to 100%, it makes the game not look washed out or grey.
just use save editor and unlock everything in 2 seconds.. I cant be bothered to grind for months just to have a messag appear next day saying 'savegame corrupt, would you like to start a new game?'
I hope xv3 adopts something like kakarot in term of graphics and maybe combos too.

Question! I just bought this game and Icant even see a single player in the map. Waas it a bug or the game is just........... dead?
Neither. It is locked behind a certain amount of story progression for whatever reason. Kinda sus since it is not mentioned anywhere and most player don't seem to play pve content with randoms unless they absolutely have to, such as in raids. Can't help but think it is some sort of anti-refund safeguard by the devs.

Audio/music is definitely not a nit-pick it plays a crucial part of any game and when it's not done right you notice so fair criticism
I used to love this game. Playing this game was so much fun and I played it all of the time. However, after awhile of my playing, it got old faster and faster. The more I played, the more I was wanted a new game that could also fix the problems the games had. But, then they continued to keep releasing more, and more, and more, and more DLC, and that's when i realized, they're not gonna let this game die. It's a game that looks pretty modern, but feels like a game that's 7 years old. Because it is.
The netcode was my main problem, without PvP there really is only Spam Ult PvE content
I pre ordered this game and have been playing since it dropped, so here's my thoughts
At first some skills didnt even work(Lookin at you Dragon fist and KKx20Kamehameha) but now? most skills do work and infact can be combod into each other, Ive made multiple builds where I can use all 3 of my supers into each other and even an ult if the enemies stam isnt back in time at least for offline, online it depends on the connection, but if you're against a 4 bar or a good 3 bar(some can be trash) the game plays fine for the most part, anything under 3 tho and you're asking for a bad time lol
At first there was more reason to pick between the races as Saiyans only had SSJ3, SV2 or PU for transformations, while frieza's race got the Golden form which put them at the highest ki blast dmg even over female saiyans with SV2 and stam recov on basic plus death beam for charged basic ki blasts, Female majins have the stam recov when broken and male majins were beefy, so were namekians, but their main stick was the HP Regen when low which at that time was a bit more useful because we didnt have as many ult + Super Soul combos that could 1 shot, heck we even have super attacks that can 1 shot now when fully charged, but once SSB became a thing Female saiyans took the lead in dmg and we had more ults plus super souls, so at that point it just became a game of whoever gets stam broken first is dead usually, and once Golden form got that big nerf, people who preferred ki blast builds went to female saiyans or female earthlings over Frieza's race and now with all the dmg we have male majins and namekians probs dont see much use and the fact that saiyans just got SSB and SSBE massively buffed to where they can be maintained indefinitely with minimal setup just gave people even less reason to use other races.
all races did recieve a new transformation and it's really good in terms of looks/dmg however it has 2 huge drawbacks, one the time it takes to finish the transformation and two the reduced defense so it's a double edged sword, they did give us a way to reduced the extra dmg taken, but didnt reduce the animation time, so to even use the new form you have to land a stam break plus have a setup or be playing offline and time it with cutscenes, if they just reduced the animation time by a second or changed it so once you're hair/eyes change the enemy cant super burst dash to break your guard and instead it would just knock you(the one who transformed) away like it would normally, that would fix it easily and it'd be super viable.
They also need to give us more reason to use the other forms,
for saiyans give SSJ3 15% dmg reduction to both defenses instead of just physical,
give SV2 20% ki blast dmg instead of 17.5%, but reduced speed by like 10% and 10% dmg reduction to both defenses,
Future SSJ should be 10% increase to all dmg and 5% to both defenses, no decrease to ki recovery and 10% increase to stam recovery, same speed.
for PU 20% increased dmg, 10% increased defense, same increase to ki recovery, but 5% decrease to stam recovery.
for Golden form 30% increase to all dmg instead of just blasts, 33% decrease to ki recovery, 5% decrease to stam recovery, no decrease/increase to defenses, same speed.
for Purification same dmg increase, increase both defenses by 20%, increase speed by 10%, increase stam recovery by 10%
drains 5 ki bars to activate like Beast does
for Giant Form same dmg increase, decrease speed by 15% and stam recovery by 10%, but increase both defenses by 25%, make form drain Ki and allow for enemy super/ult attack dmg to go thru, untransform when at 0 KI, recover 1% of max hp every 5 seconds while in the form and increase to 5 ki bars to activate.
Oh and ya know saiyans with animated tails as a customization option xD.

I like xenoverse 2 but it could be better like have more giant bosses, the dragon ball timeline (the kid goku one with king piccolo) hair spiking up for custom saiyan characters, have super saiyan 4 as well, and choose a fighting style like the standard hand to hand, swordsman or staff user and have the weapons be sold at shops and more importantly have the hero from the last game help you fight final form Mira instead of goku cause goku has literally no reason being there unless the fight is taking too long like in xenoverse 1 other than that it should have been the character you played as and transferred from the previous xenoverse game to help you beat the final boss
I personally found the controls better in XenoVerse 2 like being able to turn around and hit instead of just hitting x to disappear behind each other until one of you run out of stamina
In most aspects, It's a million times better than XenoVerse 1. Better graphics, better fighting mechanics (if that's even the right term) got an extremely wide and honestly impressive roster and a lot of content just overall. Yeah, there's flaws, but the ones saying it's bad are honestly just either haters, salty kids or bots. It's really not that bad and the fact it stands strong even with 2023 should say something, especially when (apparently) Gen Z just controls everything, sadly

This game has a lot of dlc sure, but it's also been supported for 7+ years now. So on one hand for a new player it's a lot to buy in one go, but on the other hand this is the only DB game that we've ever gotten with this much dlc support. Granted there are core mechanics that will never get updated or fixed and the game is a bit dated by now but it is what it is. Plus, there are other games that have nearly double the dlc that Xenoverse has like Shinobi Strikers for example 💀💀
I have tried this game but for some reason the combat system just feels off for me.
I got Xenoverse 2 like two years after launch and I ended up liking it a lot. I still prefer the traditional Raging blast or Tenkiachi game though
Id be fine with rather than a full on xenoverse 3, id be alright with them doing just an engine overhaul with updated graphics, better load times and small qol things, just me tho.

Dropping combos and not extending them with supers, blocking Ultimates when your stamina is low instead of heavy smashing AI while they begin their ultimates, no just guarding, no snap vanishing, no dashing, no transformation. Hes not even at max level. I feel like theres a fundamental misunderstanding of the combat on his side. If he were to learn he would have a much better time with the game. Its way more fun than he made it out to be gameplay wise imo.

I have almost 500 hours into xenoverse 2 on my switch and I have all but the Supreme kai of time playable characters
I've been on a Dragon Ball kick for the last few months, just finished Kakarot and the DLC and was gonna go back to BT3, but I'm considering checking this game out. Never played either of them, but my friend I steam share with has Xenoverse 2. I hear very mixed things, as a die hard Dragon Ball fan who loves BT series and Kakarot, should I play this game?
If you are a completionist good luck. This game is god awful to 100% I’m still doing it as of writing this.
@nowlan2 i started the story mode but I've only played the first mission against Raditz. It looks like there's waaaay too much content to even think about 100% beating it
I played the open beta and off and on came back over and over after the years, I don't even buy the new dlc most of the time, I just hear new content and pick up the game again. Super close to getting all achievements too! Love this game so much and can't wait for Xenoverse 3
there is no help for you if you think that they'd make another sequel which costs 60 bucks and cram in nearly $200 of paid content from a prior installment onto it for you for FREE. Wake up.
@@rein3417 That's wrong. They know that the people who are still buying these new dlcs would buy xenoverse 3 too. So let's say they are making the third game. While the game is being made, hardcore fan are buying the dlcs of xenoverse 2. And then, they will also buy the new game with the same content. It's basically extra money for them. And most casual players are not buying dlcs of a game that old anyways, so a new game would be making money of of them too.

More than half of xenoverse 2's purchasers have moved on to other games and didn't bother getting every single dlc like a 10th of the community at most. There is no point in making another game when they would spend far less and make far more in the long run by constantly adding dlc to xenoverse 2. Look at where we are now. 7 years almost and the game is still receiving support, giving less and less of anything new that could have potentially been added to another installment. If they were going to do another installment, they should have stopped the dlc after dlc 4 dropped. Well over a 3rd of 2's content is paid dlc. Once more, wake up. 8 new contest winners are about to get their loading screens in xenoverse 2, they skipped out on hero colosseum for the latest dlc, there are yet to be more load screens such as snapshots of the cgi cutscenes from the dlc 16 story, there is a bunch of leftover content that did not make it into the game from the vote pack such as bergamo, tracksuit 18, 4 other mascots, and several other partner keys. Most of what you and other people are asking for to be implemented into another game can very easily be implemented into 2 now, but they don't, because they don't care about you, me, or anyone, only what's in our wallets. Until there is official confirmation that the dlc for xv2 is over, expect that there will be plenty more on the way for months and even at this point years to come. God you people are so stupid. 🤦♂
@@rein3417 At risk of looking stupid as you say, can you clarify what you meant? Because i'm not sure I correctly understood you. You started of by saying that most people who bought Xenoverse 2 did not bother to buy the dlcs. Escpecially the ones that came from, like, a year after it's release right? So how can you say that they make more money with dlcs, instead of a new game.
Because it goes back to what i said. Nobody is gonna buy xenoverse 2 now with all it's dlcs, and a fraction of the fan base are buying the new ones. So by making a third game, you bring all the fans back (and get new ones too). They get full game price from that bright new game that people will be so much interested in, and then they can start new dlcs there too. Like a first year season pass, to start it off.
And again, the people who continued to buy all dlcs of xenoverse 2 will still buy the new xenoverse, because they are such hardcore fan of this serie. What am i missing here?

I loved XV1 but never tried XV2 but always had an eye on it.
Does the story continue? Does it retell the XV1 one in any way? Just kinda curious on those. I do have the game, just never actually played it due to that doubt
XV2’s base game story is basically a copy and paste of XV1 but the final missions add on the Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods and Resurrection F fights that XV1 didn’t have. If you get all the DLC, there is an ENORMOUS amount of content well worth over 100 hundred hours of gameplay. Any Dragon Ball fan will enjoy XV2. I highly recommend
Only get this game on PC, it'll get dull really fast if you don't have mods.

Xenoverse 2 is the only "live service" game I've ever really enjoyed, and they've supported the game for way longer than most. Don't mind having them take a lot of time on the 3rd, seeing as how I think they'd need to create a lot of new stuff to make it worthwhile. The new BT should hold people over in the meantime.
The game is super fun but it doesn't feel as lasting to me anymore. I have everything from the main game and all of the DLCs.
Pretty much wish they would add new games modes like full fledge offline tournaments, an offline crystal raid, etc. Bc getting 5 or so dlc PQs and a few new story missions just doesn't hold up for me. Plus, i don't play PvP, lol.
XV1 had janky controls for me so playing those missions in XV2 as DLC bettered my enjoyment for it. Seriously, protecting Gohan and Krillin on Frieza's ship on the original made me rage quit like 5 times before I got passed it. On XV2, nailed it first try without losing either one
Actually, giant namek is probably the besy race in the game right now due to the "Gaagh!" Or "i like you better when you are mad!" Super souls along with giant namek💀
