Oberyn won the fight in every meaning, he only failed to live long enough to appreciate his multifaceted victory. Literal defeat of the Mountain? Check. Got the confession? Check. Tywin was implicated as having order the atrocities? *Oh yeah, that’s a check* My head theory is that Howland was actually a savant of combat, he just doesn’t like to show off. Hence why those squires are Harrenhal beat him up-he didn’t feel like thrashing three dumb teenagers that day and so took mercy. Lyanna understandably misunderstood the situation and thus hijinks ensued.
bro , red viper almost win the battle it was plot armor of mountain who saved him it doesnt matter if you are 8 ft or 10 ft tall if a spear penetrate your chest and pulled out by the style oberyn did you are dead instantly , battle between them is purely unscientific and fictional
I don't think that Arthur even died and the only way I can see Howland winning a fight is with poison darts. I think Dayne is alive and is masquerading as Mance Rayder. (I go with the theory that Jon is actually Ned and Ashara Dayne's kid.) Jon is a very good fighter, so good that he fights three vs one as a training exercise. But when he fights Mance (who is masquerading as the Lord of Bones) Mance absolutely beats him six ways to Sunday with almost 0 effort. And what weapon was he using when he fought Jon? A Greatsword.
Honestly what would realistically make the mountain terrifying is that the most reliable way to beat plate is to grapple, and who in their right mind would wrestle the mountain.
Bobby, Sandor and Greatjon are the only guys who could do it i think, and they are definitely the underdog in that tussle! And you are right! This is why people like even Dayne and Jaime have to be careful, the go to way to beat Gregors armor is off the table! Thanks for watching My lord of Spud! Liam
@coryb8432 A sword can't cut through armor, one of the most common methods was to enter a grapple and use a dagger to find a gap in the armor, watch actual armored sparring and you'll realize most of the time it turns into a wrestling match, just with knives.
This is why in the past I have said that realistically nobody beats Gregor. In the setting of ASOIAF, sure. But not if this took place in our world. You basically can't beat plate armor without use of a dagger in between the weak spots (See Netflix's The King for a good example of this in fiction) or something like an ice pick or billhook rammed between the vitals. I've also done HEMA, and my past experience in Judo and BJJ made me absolutely dominate people that were far better at the actual fencing bit than I was just because all I had to do was deflect one attack to get into grappling range where I could treat them like babies. That grappling threat is real, and grappling always favors the bigger man. Now it is firmly established that Gregor isn't unskilled or stupid. He's heinous beyond words, but not ignorant. He knows the weakness of armor. He knows the weakness of his weapon. His fight IQ isn't even trash. His skill isn't nothing, it's just quite basic. But a man with basic skill who has downright superhuman strength and stands 8ft tall at 400+lbs? Unbeatable in plate armor. You'd have to get within his range, and he'd rip you limb from limb if you do. The only ones who could win or at least hold their own are, as Liam suggested above, possibly Sandor and the Greatjon. Even Bobby B wouldn't considering he was ''only'' 6'6 himself and therefore just not enough of a physical match. People really underestimate how much size matters. 20lbs of a physical disparity is already massive in a fight. Most boxing weightclasses go by 4-8lbs. Most MMA ones go by 10lbs. Imagine a disparity of what, 200lbs? And that's assuming guys like Jaime or Dayne are 200lbs, which we don't actually know. 200lbs is already a big man. But for reference, the difference in size between someone of 200lbs against The Mountain is the equivalent of putting Jake Paul up against Brian Shaw. Even though Shaw is less skilled, he'd rip him apart effortlessly just based on size. Realistically if you had to grapple The Mountain, you're dead. And realistically, you do. That's why this is basically impossible. The sole exception would be some giant with a polearm (like Greatjon Umber maybe), or someone of almost equal size but superior skill, stamina and speed. There's only one guy like that, and that's The Hound.
@TheStraightestWhitest Honestly I think the best comparison would be Mike Tyson in our world. The strategy for beating both is the same, wear them down and play for time, but for both that is a task much easier said than done, because one small mistake and it is over. The only way I could see someone who isn't some legendary warrior beating him is though asymmetrical tactics, and that isn't really an option in an official duel, aside from grabbing a bow and praying for a lucky shot.
His emotions is what helped him beat the mountain tho. In the book and show he wants a confession and after how many shots the mountain has taken. Oberyn is not acting on emotion when it comes to the mountain. He's logically thinking well I've stabbed him numerous times I should be fine.
Hard disagree on show Ned. People want him to be more of a leader than a fighter because it compliments his character (and he may well be in the books) but based on its own content, show Ned is not an above average fighter - he is a freaking excellent fighter. Barristan (and I think Jaime too?) says he saw Ned at the Trident and Siege of Pike slay “a dozen great knights” and fight like a hero. Then an aged and out of his prime Ned holds his own against a young and in his prime Jaime. Then a young and prime Ned easily defeats one kings guard at the Tower of Joy and holds his own for a long time against the single greatest swordsman of all time in the show - Dayne. The men who went with Ned to the Tower were not average fighters - they were elite, experienced, trained nobles. The Kings Guard who Ned easily killed was not an average fighter, he was an elite, top 20 fighter in the kingdom. These are not feats of an above average fighter, this is categorically a top 10-15 fighter in the kingdom arguably top 3-7. Again, I get that we don’t want Ned to be this awesome but it’s time to look at facts and admit the show isn’t the books. John is an above average fighter. Jorah is an above average fighter. Tormond is an above average fighter. Show Ned is elite to the level of standing his ground against the GOAT and easily defeating the hand picked top 5 knight in the kingdom (kings guard).
I think Ned had a couple reasons he could do it Everyone is familiar with Ned being an Honor-tryhard and his counterfeit victory over Dayne would have put him on a course to becoming a master swordsman if so only he wouldn't be living the lie of 'besting the GOAT' Ned would definitely become the thing he was awarded in error. second; Ned has Ice - the 2Handed Valyrian greatsword One of the few weapons in creation that can dismantle The Mountain's full plate. It can parry without breaking, it's a weapon he's known his whole life. unfortunately Ned being Ned would never seek 'trial by combat' (for himself) this is a purely hypothetical situation
In the show, yes I totally agree : why everyone say show Jaime is the best before losing hand (would beat Hero Jon era) but we don't see him fight exepect against Ned, but they say Ned is not that good ? Same arguments, same level of fighting, show or tell ; Ned in the show is in the top of the heap easy.
@@TheFandomeClips hard to say since we never really get to watch him fight but it seems he had a knowledge of poisons not unlike Oberyn, being from Bravos I’d expect he’s familiar with Water Dancing, maybe even proficient in it, likely killed a water dancer or two in his day. Given the skill his pupil demonstrated, the blonde girl (I’d say she’s on par with or close to any of Oberyns daughters) it might be safe to say depending on his weapon of choice that he could have what it takes to get the W… that said he did end up in a cage that one time…
4:00 there’s also the possibility that jamie, thinking ned actually killed dayne in a fair fight, had high expectations for him and was disappointed by ned’s lack of skill compared do dayne and himself
Someone else pointed this out to me, its honestly a very interesting speculation! Ethier way, Ned was not getting the upper hand like many like to think! Thanks for watching! Liam
Its shocking to think why more warriors don't use maces or War-Hammers in Westeros considering Plate Armour is so common, no wonder King Bobby B. steamrolled everyone he's the only fighter with a functioning brain in Westeros. Just imagine The Mountain with a giant War-Hammer, honestly with his size & strength plus every idiot is wearing Plate Armour he'd crush them in a single hit & might actually be the deadliest fighter in Westeros.
Thats why Bobby got number 1 in our fighters video, he has common sense 😂 The Mountain with a warhammer or mace is a terrifying prospect, he becomes nigh on unbeatable, even to a fighter like Robert where his sole winning move is his weapon trumps Gregors. Thanks for watching my crazy hat wearing friend! Liam
Gendry the Blacksmith made a fine mace/ great club ..the best weapon against plate was called ' Bek du Corbin ' - curved like bird of prey's beak , piercing deep into plate.
well in history knights used swords for cutting down the common folks and would typically avoid each other, the cases of knights really trying to end each other in war are very rare considering the raw number of battles of the centuries very few noble knights ever died. Cowards really, and in dueling tournaments they also did not used weapons that were anti armor as they did not want to cause other knights to die or die themselves.
@@xomox5316 Exactly this. Knights usually slaughtered their way through peasants while on horseback. At my university in Marburg (Germany) we had a hilarious picture in the royal hall of the founder heroically slaughtering away at under-equipped commoners. And at least here in Germany in the dark ages you had to use a sword in "official" duels and plate armor and helmets were forbidden. In later centuries you could use other weapons, but they always had to be the same for both combatants.
One thing I would've loved to have seen: The Mountain on the battlefield rather than a duel. Just standing 1-3 feet over everyone else, sweeping through helpless footmen multiple at a time.
One advantage Sandor has: He's been preparing for this fight with his brother for most of his life, while Gregor is very likely to underestimate him because means older brothers ALWAYS do when it comes to their siblings. Sandor for certain has been taking mental notes and has been looking for weaknesses
Too bad the budget never allowed for that Randy, would have been pretty awesome to see why he's one of the most feared me in Westeros. The massacring of the unarmed prisoners just can't compare! Thanks for watchings matey! Liam
The Mountain and soldiers of the like are not used in the battlefield for the same reason that Bears and (lol) Elephants aren't. One exceptionally valid soldier/unit, in reality, whoever he is, is never more than 4 or 5 spear strikes (if surrounded, that's NOTHING, milliseconds on a battlefield) from death at any time. General rule being importance = value = keep them behind. The exceptions to the rule are those who're strategizing (Robb, Jon in BOTB at first) at the back, leading and commanding. If your commander/lead officer is fighting in the melee, you're either desperate or making a mistake. I have no doubts Tywin especially knew The Mountain was best used at tournaments and as a feared commander where his fear factor was more useful than his actual potential kill count on a battlefield. This is literally why Oniondad shits the bed when Jon REEEEEE charges after Rickon gets converted into 100 experience points by Ramsay.
What about Daario Naharis?! He’s a skilled, capable fighter, also willing to play dirty (like Bronn) I think he has a fair chance against the Mountain…
I think with The Red Wedding you can kind of see that Robbs mistakes lead to it. With Oberyn the guy did pretty much everything right, he fought the hardest fight of his life and took all the correct steps and then for the lack of a tiny bit of emotional control he lost, I agree with you, its way more of a gut punch 👊 :( thanks for watching Rozza! Liam
Agreed. Oberon was one of Dorne's best. The Red Vipers Spear with its reach and poisoned blade should have won him victory..but he got overconfident and too close to a monster of a man. Excellent performance from Pedro Pascal
Oberyn's death sucked even more because he was fighting for a completely justified cause and it caught me off guard too. Definitely drove home the point of nobody being safe (when the show was still epic).
Maybe I'm biased, but reading it before sewing the show was the right decision. Had to re-read this several times to make sure what I read was correct.
Another point against Beric is that he wasn't sent to hunt down the Mountain because Ned considered him a better fighter. Ser Loras was easily the better fighter, but Ned chose Beric believing that Loras was wanting revenge instead of justice, insulting the Knight of Flowers in the process. Beric was smart enough to seek the aid of Thoros and Anguy because they respectively won the melee and archery tourneys. If Ned had tasked Ser Loras with hunting down the Mountain, Loras would have been far more cunning in who he asked to help him hunt down the Mountain. Yes, Thoros and Anguy were tourney champions. However, Loras would have wanted the aid of someone who he knew already stood up to the Mountain, and that is the Hound. This would have also created a pretext for Loras to ride into the Kingswood and bring news of the Mountain's raiding to King Robert (possibly preventing his death). Loras would have retained command of the host to hunt down the Mountain, but would have been able to recruit Sandor Clegane and even Ser Barristan Selmy. Seven Hells, it would give Robert a chance to get off his butt and hunt the most dangerous game (man) rather than a white stag or regicidal boar.
thoros wasnt just a tourney night he was the first man through the breach at pyke alongside Jorah the explorer Ned saw beric as an actual soldier not a tourney night which Loras totally was if Ned hadnt have been injured he would have road against the mountain as well
Good old Thoros. Hes that kind old Uncle that doesn't want to tell you the bad news, but knows noone else will if he doesn't. Thanks for watching! Liam
Jaime losing his smile in the show was exactly how you explained it. He thought it was going to be easy, and Ned knew it was gonna be tough. Therefore Ned tries his hardest all the way through and at the end after he sees Jaime losing his smile he smiles, cause he is proud of how long he lasted and that he managed to, at least a little bit, humble that arrogant brat. But that didn't mean he was a threat to Jaime. Jaime knew he couldn't be holding back anymore and had to end it quick. A theory I also once had is that he didn't lose his smile because Ned proved to be better than Jaime thought, but worse. At this point Jaime thinks Ned defeated Arthur Dayne, but while duelling him he sees that Ned was too bad to acomplish that. He is starting to catch on that something was off about that story. I don't it is true, but It could be another way to look at this fight.
Hey Hubert! Nice to see us find some common ground!that's a very interesting way to veiw the fight actually, lost his smile because Ned wasn't worthy in the slightest. Ethier way one thing is for sure, Ned ain't beating Jaime, Dayne or Gregor on even ground! Thanks for watching mate! Liam
I'll be honest i don't think that's what that means in both shows and books nobody knows how Ned killed Dayne Jaime should have expected at least that much that being said i do think Jaime would have won with low risks of losing unless Howland was hiding somewhere in Kingslanding 😂 if Howland Reed was around the corner lurking then Jaime would have died with 2 hands like his idol did definitely a death he would accept
@@TheFandomeClipsNed is more like Tywin Lannister and Randyll Tarly in the Books, a competent enough warrior in his own but a good General, he realised Tywins plan of forcing the river lords to divide their forces to protect every keep and village something which even skilled commanders like Jason Mallister didn't get
It’s weird - I always took that loss of smile at the pressing of swords to be Jaime realizing that Ned was physically stronger, which he didn’t think he was, and recalculating how to win with pure skill since he seemed to notice Ned could overpower him if he let him…
I hope we get a chance to see Robert in his prime especially since he’s the only character we ever hear about using a war hammer instead of a sword as his main choice of weapon. Imagine if the Mountain had a war hammer everyone would be dead one hit and your chest is caved in. Never stop the love for old Bobby B he may not have been a good king but he was a damn good commander.
We love Bobby and I hope we get to see him in his prime also, but yeah a warhammer in Greg's hands is an extremely scary thought 😳 thanks for watching! Liam
This is a classic. Almost as classic as Oberyn's head popping like an egg while Indira Varma delivers the performance of a lifetime, one so good it literally made D&D write her into more of the show than they had planned. If only they had afforded Ian McElhinney's Barristan the same luxury...
Thanks man! Yeah killing Barristan in the manner they did was and still is one of the biggest crimes ever put to screen 😂😂 Thanks for tuning in as always man! Liam
hafthor has a reach advantage and his boxing training plus a very small strength advantage, eddie is a natural athlete and competitive swimmer in his youth, which he still can do, but eddie was cocky and didnt train hardly at all. thus hafthor outboxed him and won handily , even though he went down once.
I reckon the Half-Hand could beat him. He was toying with Jon Snow, and killed Wildlings for fun. Like Tormund said to Jon; _"He killed men, many times your size."_ He's top tier.
There's a theory that he's actually Dayne, though personally I think that might be bollocks 😂 but yeah the Half Hand shouldn't be written off that's for sure! Thanks for watching Lonestar! Liam

Okay, but what about Twenty of the House of Goodmen? He was all Ramsay needed to basically cripple Stannis army in the show, so he must be one beast of a fighter
@@TheStraightestWhitest idk if he would be knighted tbh, thats uncommon for northerners, after all. Perhaps his disgraced younger brother Ten was knighted at one point in time though, as he seems to have worked as a sellsword based on the fact Bronn mentioned him and seemed to praise his skill.

Belwas is definitely more skilled than the Mountain, but there is no way he beats him. One of the biggest factors being Belwas uses a weapon that wouldn't be able to do anything against Gregor's insane amount of armor.
Thats the issue, that and Belwas OCD rule about getting cut and his lack of armor. People really sleep on the Mountain, hes quite literally one of the deadliest people in Thrones, even for the greats like Jaime, Dayne and Bobby. Its same for Drogo, nothing against their skills, its their toolkits that hurt their chances :/ thanks for watching Eli! Liam

Drogo would have a good chance. Light on armor, yes, but he is fast for his size. There is a world where he could cut the mountain down, slash by slash. Cut to the knee, you get it 😉 Great video as always btw, I'll admit, you are right about Vic.
See we think Drogo is screwed, we addressed why in part 2. He is 1000000 percent the better fighter, but his tool kit is just completely countered by Gregors, not impossible for everyone's favourite Khal to win but not likely ethier in our opinion. Take away Gregors armor though and I could see Drogo going 10/10 all day 😂 it would be sport for him Thanks for watching Seldo! Liam
@@TheFandomeClips yeah slashing curved swords, light spears, and daggers aren't going to win that fight unless he gets very very lucky with a throwing attack. On horse? 10 to 1 for Drogo on foot? not so much
He gets absolutely destroyed. No armor and shit weapons to combat armor. This means he has to get in close with his daggers. Get in close against a guy 1,5ft taller and like 150lbs heavier and vastly stronger than him. He'd get Oberyn'd.
@@TheFandomeClips If you think Drogo couldn't then you would also conclude that the Viper couldn't, by the same logic. My money is on Theon though, fast and with armor-penetrating arrows, It doesn't matter who if you can incapacitate his legs, then the same fighter can stop the long arms and then finish the neck, head or chest.
Small thing about Dayne, I believe in the books Dawn is a two handed great sword which would probably be better than a long sword for fighting Gregor. Obviously you guys already have him winning so it doesn’t affect the outcome you came to but I think it’s notable. Love the content, keep it up!
I always see Dawn as on the smaller end of Greatswords due to Dayne using it in his everyday knighting duties which always has me referring to it as a longsword 😂 anything that puts more distance between you and Greg is never a bad thing though! Thanks for the kind words SteveBob! Liam
IIRC, the axe Victarion Greyjoy used was a boarding axe, which is similar to a modern firefighting axe - smaller than a battle axe and designed to function as both a weapon and a climbing tool for getting onto ships with higher sides than an Ironborn longship. One good point as a weapon against the Mountain is that the reverse side of the axe blade is a spike that might be able to punch through plate armor with a hard enough swing. However, you’d be much better off with a halberd, which has the same type of head but significantly heavier and at the end of a pole long enough to give you the reach advantage over Gregor’s greatsword.
Its interesting, there are quite a few that would have a good chance of beating him. Although, one thing that stood out was how unorthadox Oberyn needed to be to beat him. Would a traditional knight with a traditional game plan (regardless of skill) have had a chance? I'm genuinely not sure. Guys like Jaime and Barristan that are noted for their ability maybe, but I really struggle with Ned, and IMO the Hound would have struggled too, you make the point about the bigger brute with Victarian, so I think the same reasoning stands on why he'd struggle against his brother.
Would love to have seen the Mountain shit himself being face to face with Wun-Wun, or see him try to square up to a White Walker. He would get swept aside like Samwell Tarly did with their super-strength and his armor would shatter upon contact with them.
Mountain was very confident in his size. He thinks he can kill anyone with his bare hand. If he see Wunwun his whole confidence will gone and he may say that Now Iam looking on the real mountain.
Very much so, were it not for the hound needing the kill, I would have been eager to see the Mountain ended with the poetic justice of been crushed by someone bigger than him 😂 Thanks for watching! Liam
We're forgetting my boy Drogo here. Yes it is true that he does not wear armor, but with the untouchable speed that he demonstrated and the strength comparable to that of the Mountain, for me a sure winner
@11:56 There are multiple historical examples in the books (Fire and Blood, A World of Ice and Fire, etc.) of warriors wielding Valyrian Steel swords losing to warriors with regular swords, either due to the latter having a physical or skill advantage, the former being tired from battle and/or wounded, or both. And those examples we know actually happened due to the Valyrian Steel swords changing ownership as result of their former owner's death. These seem a lot less plausible if we are to believe that Valyrian Steel can just no-sell any normal sword or armor it hits, so it's very likely that Fandome is right about this.
Thanks Damien! Yeah it seems to be a myth perpetuated by Briennes feats with oath keeper, what I don't think people realise is Brienne didn't cut through that sword and armor because she had a magic sword, she did it because she's bonkers strong and a crazy talented warrior! Thanks for watching! Liam
The Duo of Berric & Thoros might not, but the TEAM of the Brotherhood without Banners would smoke him if they caught him on his own. The Huntsman could sick the dogs on him, You got Zombie, Sword Sponge Beric, along with Thoros swinging 2 flaming swords, 2 Big guys, in Greenbeard and Lem, that could strike blows that might have some effect, along with Tom who could harass him with throwing knives while Anguy sniped the gaps in his armor with his bow
I don’t know if the scene is the same in the book, but if that guy with the spear didn’t have a personal grudge against the Mountain, that fight would have just been a complete and methodical ass kicking that was over in mere seconds.
Oberyn trashes the Mountain in the books too Matt! He just goes about it a little differently. In the show he's dancing around Gregor like a jedi from star wars. In the books he's a lot more cautious, keeping his distance and biding his time. Its very tense in the books because the mountain isn't quite as clumsy, he's actually pretty skilled which makes for a much more nerve racking fight. Oberyn still kicks his ass though! Thanks for watching Matt! Liam
In regards to Ned stark, an often overlooked technique often used with very large swords is basically gripping the sword with the left hand further up, often on the blade, effectively turning a great sword into a spear which could have actually played to Ned's advantage as it did with oberyn
Man at this point there’s gotta be only a handful of characters who lives far before the main story who could take the big guy down. If you circled back around to some Star Wars or Harry Potter ones that would be pretty dope. Great video as always guys.

I still don't think he would be the Mountain but there's to say that Jorah in the books is huge as a bear, like most Mormonts. Not as monstrous as Gregor but still a huge, muscled armor-clad man, he's most definetely above average.
Oh for sure, I don't think Jorah is a slouch and he'll definitely be extremely strong for his size. I just remember Dany noting that he was noticeably shorter than Barristan, most people guesstimate that Barristan is 6 to 6.4ft tall. So Jorah could be 5.9ft to maybe 6ft tall, so not short but definitely heavily on the back foot of size and strength vs Gregor. But for the Dothraki to know and respect Jorah as a swordsman, that for me tells me he was probably an absolute force to be reckoned with when he was younger, just not enough to beat the Mountain. I think even the greats like Dayne and Jaime are going to struggle trying to take a sword vs that monster. Thanks for watching Gabriel! Liam

Fun bit of trivia: Bjornsson was the shortest of the three actors to play the Mountain at 6’9”. The others were both seven-footers, but he was by far the most massive. At his heaviest, when he was training to break the world deadlift record, Halfthor weighed about 440-450 pounds. So we was basically as massive as the book character despite being more than a foot shorter. Bjornsson slimmed down to 335 a couple years ago when he took up boxing. Seriously, though, Martin erred really low when he described the mountain. Assuming an eight-foot-tall man with The Mountain’s proportions existed he’d probably weigh something more like a quarter ton. There have been a handful of accurately measured eight-foot humans but all of them had growth disorders & they typically weren’t what you’d call healthy. A little over seven-foot is about the limit for humans before the body starts having major issues just functioning.

@@TheFandomeClipsThere’s a difference between a battlefield two-handed sword and a beheading sword like Ice. Beheading swords aren’t really intended for actual combat. They’re, well, beheading swords.
Talking about Ice people frequently over estimate how heavy swords are. Ice would weigh about 4-5 lbs at the very most and likely less than because of the materials. The primary reason swords of that size wernt used often is not because they’re unwieldy it was because they were always more effective reach weapons available, and swords were primarily carried as a side arm. If you’re already carrying a halberd you wouldn’t also need to carry a great sword etc.
Oh I've done HEMA I know what we call a greatsword or warsword isn't as heavy as people think. If you listen to that section you'll notice the audio has been cut and stitched together. Thats because Thom for some reason decided to cut out my HEMA rant about how greatswords are a touch more unwieldy than a longsword due to their size and how they build more momentum in the swing but they do move quick once you get them going and aren't as heavy as people think but it's a bit harder to change direction or stop mid swing than a longsword (thats my personal experience of them) , but I made a point about the size of Ice. Its a whooping big Greatsword...... even by greatsword standards (this bit was obviously cut) . Only one sword is described as bigger in the entire series and its Greatjons (A guy who is 7ft tall and from the description of how wide he is might be built even bigger than Gregor Clegaine). That section orginally had me basically saying Ice would be unwieldy to Ned because its not made for someone his size and is more suited to someone like Gregor, Greatjon, Sandor and maybe Bobby B to wield with finesse. I don't blame Thom though, I'm guessing that section messed with the flow and pace of the video, but yeah it leaves me with egg on my face a little 😂 Thanks for watching and sharing your insights Patric! Liam
Somehow I think Vic would have a hard time grabbing Gregor and throwing him overboard like he did with Serry, 8ft tall and 400 pounds is nothing to sniff at even for someone as big and strong as Vic 😂
Well informed choices, no complaints. I've always been enthralled while reading about Robert an his war hammer. It's basically a massive double ended spear, a massive hammer an a pointy hammer It's one of the main things I was rly excited to see what they did with in the show but they only ever spoke of it. I would think about it often, how fast could he swing it? Jus how devasting is the blow? How would the average foot soldier to the renowned knights attempt to fight an defend from him an how well could he defend from faster an more precision strikes? There was so much to mine there an color me disappointed. Thanks to you guys I get to take part in or watch debates on many things that were either covered in the books or show or not, an some things I truly never even thought of to debate. Thank you for existing, this channel an all the ppl like me who watch an appreciate the discussion around it
Always nice when I see you put out a new video, the more I thought on Ned the more I think he was great when he was young and the reason he survived the war but with the death of his brother needed to put down the sword and pick up the quill to become a decent lord and an honourable man (great as a knight but easy to push around in castle politics) I'm looking forward to the how they could win the Game of thrones detailed remakes, got to wonder if you will try hard mode and come up with a Greyjoy victory scenario?
Hey Kyle great to see you as always man! Thom has the Gregjoy challenge in the works 😂 on his head be it 😂 yeah people crap on Ned and I think its unfair, he may not be top tier but he was clearly very good! Thanks for watching as always! Liam
Another cool video idea may be this: if the Targaryens never showed up or didn’t have dragons, which house would’ve had the best chance to conquer Westeros?
I'd imagine... none, at least not without some plot advantage on par with dragons. At the time of the conquest, house Hoare was on a bit of an expansionist streak, having previously conquered most of the Riverlands and some of the Stormlands, and were working on a giant castle from which they could go up against the rest, but it's doubtful if that could have succeeded even if the Targaryens hadn't melted Harrenhall. But I think it would be likely that should Hoare had tried to move on the North, for example, Durrandon and/or Lannister would have taken advantage and tried to move on them.
Medieval historian here: it doesn't matter how well made a sword is. The best metal sword in the world would never cut through the worst metal sword in the world. WOuld it lave a dent or shatter? Sure, if both swing hard enough. But it won't cut. This is even more true for plate armour. No sword in the world will cut through or even meaningfully pierce reasonable plate armour. You win through force (for example the Mordhau, in which you use the crossguard and pommel als some kind of a hammer or special fencing technique that allows you to pin your opponent, draw your dagger and stab through the visor. You need force. That's the reason swords are becoming less and less important in the medieval ages and other weapons (as pollaxes, warhammers or polearms) are more popular. It doesn't even matter how hard the sword is, you couldn't cut or pierce a steel harness with a titanium or tungsten blade. As we all know: Force equals mass times acceleration: A lighter (meaning less mass) sword (such as in valyrian steel, titanium or mithril) doesn't really make sense, except for pure fencing weapons, that are not used against full armour. But most authors don't really get that.
Longswords were actually quite good Vs plate armor, which is why knights carried them. A knight wouldn't swing at another knight with a longsword, he would thrust at any weak spots in his opponents armor
It's a shame we don't know more of Maelys the Monstrous otherwise I would put him somewhere in the list, if the stories about him are true he did kill a horse with a punch and twisted his cousin's head off so he would be in the ballpark of Gregor if not stronger.
He certainly sounds like he was a match for Gregor on the strength front and it took God DAM Barristan the Badass to put him down, you know your a bad mofo when they have to send Selmy after you 😂
Honestly ethier has it. The best of one era is often comparable to the best of another (especially since i don't think PEDs are a thing in Westeros 😂) and both are held up as two of the greatest warriors of their day. Id give the slightest edge to Dayne since he's got the longer weapon but thats the only solid advantage etheir has. Both have magical swords and so far we only know Dawn is comparable to Vsteel so they've got equal arms until we see Dawn do something crazy. Thats my two cents!
My sugestions of Fighters who could: 1 Barristan Selmy at his prime. 2 Euron Greyjoy (books version) 3 Ser Duncan the Tall 4 sandoq the shadow 5 Areo Hotah
so i got a questions for you guys if you could build a kings guard with any characters who would your 7 be ? also if you want a more challenging question. who would be your kings guard per kingdom like for the north you can only pick northmen , or for the reach you can only pick reachmen.
Oh easy, Sandor, Oberyn, Bobby, Selmy, Dayne, Ned and Tyrion. (No Jaime because if I want to blow up Kings landing its my bloody right as king to do so!!!) I think with those 7 you've got a good mix of fighting skills, a poison expert and two who bring other skills like intelligence. They're all staunchly loyal too so you could trust them to have you back! The other question I'd have to get back to you that takes a lot more thought! Thanks for watching! Liam
id go with selmy as commander sandor, brienne, dayne for skill, kevin lannister( not as smart as tyrion not as good as jamie but a just and honest man that can play the game if needed) then give me stannis the mannis not only for his duty to the realm but he also bring navel knowledge to the table.(im not picking bobby b not cause he a good fighter but his lust and love of drink does not make a good king guard, and my last pick wan wan his leadership + giant make a deadlly combo and being part of the free folk he would know how the lowest of the low think@@TheFandomeClips
Ser Arthur, Ser Jamie, Ned stark, Jon Snow, Stannis, Ser Loras, the hound, Ser barristen From a kingdon the north - Ned stark StormsLand - Stannis Dorne - Oberyin Ironborn - Euron Greyjoy:) the Vale - ????????? the reach - Loras Tyrell Westland - Ser Jamie RiverLands - BlackFish
Just an idea for a video, maybe the best warriors past and present from each kingdom. I think that would cover some history and different ideas people might like. Thanks enjoying your content
Hey my saintly friend! Thanks for the kind words 🙏 we've done best warriors in westeros so far, but we've got best warriors across the seas and outside westeros in the works and we'll be doing the HOTD era when we've got more footage and we'll eventually cap it off with a greatest of all time! So stay tuned! Thanks for watching! Liam
The narrator to easily dismisses the skills that only age can build. The most skilled swordsman I ever met was Rodney Omoto Sensei, 9th Dan Kendo instructor. He was 74 when I sparred with him, and watched him walk through 20 young men during a aikiken seminar. When asked what he was currently working on he replied, " I'm learning to become invisible." His swordwork was sublime. 30 years later I Am still learning from those three days with him.
Be wary of old people in lines of work where people either die young or get out in middle age. That said, I think any highly-skilled fighter has a *chance* against the Mountain. The problem would be the same as Oberyn's: you need to do everything right. The Mountain, with his size and armor, can take a lot of hits. And if you give him one opening, he will fuck you the fuck up. It's like rolling dice: you need to roll ten dice without rolling a one once.
Fully agree with these picks, especially with Vic in the can’t grouping. I don’t feel confident in saying the guy can top any high tier fighter when his only showing is getting his hand maimed and very nearly dying to a young never before mentioned knight. Like I’m sure Serry was pretty good, but had that been someone like Garlan Tyrell been in his place there, I don’t think we would’ve had another Vic chapter.
Could Isildur's father Elendil or Aragorn son of Arathorn the second from Lord of the rings beat the mountain (Elendil due to his height He was known as the greatest warrior of all the Dúnedain and the sword Narsil) and Aragorn did show great feats during the war of the ring in single combat and pitched battles
I'd say so. Anduril cuts through even plated armor from what we've seen. Aragorns also far more experience and is touted as one of the best fighters on humanities side during the Lord of The Rings. Gregor mainly would be like fight another strong Urukai but with more Armor.
Aragorn has canonical super human strength, speed, stamina and absurd experience. His battle IQ is also something else. Aragorn would win, if he sees someone like the mountain he would be cautious and develop a plan very fast. Plus he sparred with elfes which we know have insane speed. Legolas literally dodged arrows. Aragorn is no joke
i’ve never read the books (i’m going to though) but show only character i see arya beating the mountain as he was on her list and i’m sure she would prepare something similar to oberyns technique and pull it off
Maybe a video on GOT characters who had the potential to become great warriors if they more time and experience to mature their skills, like Gendry or Jon snow
A lot of this is why I'm not a big fan of small fighters taking out much larger opponents in movies, especially those of comparable experience. The big guy only really needs one good hit to put the smaller fighter on their heels. The smaller guy needs to be near perfect. Give me something like the plane fight in Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indy only "won" because the other guy didn't pay attention to the propellor.
Yeah a lot of people seem to have thos delusion that big equals slow and there for a smaller guy can dance around them. I always point to that friendly spar between the actor who plays the Mountain and Connor Mcgregor. One is a barely trained fighter whose just got a big size advantage and the other is Connor mcgregor. And whats funny about that fight is the Mountain actor is going out of his way not to hurt Connor and he's still pressuring a life long martial artist. Thanks for watching again Carl! Liam
A fight to the death is different, especially with weapons, a smaller guy can most definitely win. Smaller doesn't mean much weaker either. Mike Tyson was small for a heavy weight, the guy was only 5'10 which is short for heavy weight, and was muscular but not massive. Yet he had a stronger punch than anyone else.
Not enough footage of the guy, Thom would never allow it Blaze 😂 but from what I've heard Yohn Royce is a beast and I certainly wouldn't write him off as having a shot! Thanks for watching! Liam
I know, for the OG ASOIAF fans, Robert Baratheon has a special place in ours hearts. If we ever get a TV series adaptation of Robert's rebellion, who do you think should play Robert Baratheon? I go with Chris hemsworth.
Its got to be someone likable and charismatic (that was as big a reason he won the war as much as his fighting skills were) Hemsworth is a great shout if he can do the accent! I'm a stickler of accents 😂 I do hope if we do get a prequel that we get to see the darker side of Robert too though, you can't win every battle and war as a whole by playing nice and honorable all the time. Thanks for watching! Liam
If you really want to punish the Mountain or have a joking crossover match against prime Jaime you could always match them up with Jedi, Darth Vader or Warcraft characters.
King Robert is the most overhyped fighter in GOT. People act like he's this monster of a man with superhuman strength, but in reality he wasn't even as big as the Hound. Rhaegar Targaryen was a good fighter but he was just an average sized man and he injured Robert so bad that he couldn't continue to travel after they fought. When it comes to experience he only began his fighting career in his own rebellion where he fought in a handful of battles (and people consider this his prime) Robert was a brute standing at 6ft6 and he was very strong, but like you said he was just a smaller brute than the Mountain, standing at 8ft tall with super physiological strength. The Mountains sword is bigger than Robert's war hammer. Robert was always paired up with Ned in a duo, which could indicate that they were on a similar level when it comes to fighting. Bar killing Rhaegar Robert has no feats. Its the classic 'because he is king' he gets hyped up, but he's actually not even that good.
You are talking bullshit, Robert wasn't born a king , he won more encounters than Gregor had seen în his life , and when you say Robert you are not thinking of him ,you are thinking at Mark Addy The hammer is a much more effective weapon in a 1v1 than a sword , no matter what Hollywood would make you think Gregor is overhyped because there are many fighters în the book who prove far much stronger than him who are never mentioned : Godry Farrel and Greatjon Umber
A question that is only half in jest, could drogon defeat the mountain in a trial by combat? We’ve already seen that the man won’t spare animals…. Like his poor horse
Disagree on Belwas. You are assuming, oddly, that he lets any opponent get a full chop or stab at him, rather than a nick. Why do you assume this? Surely he hasn't taken a full shot from every opponent, but just a cut, which is I think the term he uses. He is undefeated from literally countless single combat challenges, obviously he controls the range at which his opponents slash or stab at him, and that's why he can afford to let them "cut" him. The Mountains slashes can be easily dodged, we know, and even though Belwas doesn't look agile, he must be agile enough to control range for more nimble opponents than Gregor.
You can't get nicked by Gregor, he famously cuts people in half with one swing. Without Armor thats a death sentence. Swinging a frigging greatsword requires a lot of momentum, less of a slash and more of a cleave. Belwas is awesome, but Greg can one hit KO him and Belwas will let him do it thats the issue. Thanks for watching! Liam
@@TheFandomeClips Sorry guys, but if you can get missed entirely, you can also get nicked. You're actually being really disingenuous about this, but go off. Thanks for liking tho.
The only thing that I will give to Ned Stark (not being in his prime necessary but being younger helps) is that with ICE, is that Valyrian swords can (not always) cut thru "regular" swords. So ICE with NO shield and light armor (if the mountain hits you with or without armor, you are going down), trying to wear down the mountain then going going for an Achilles... I give him a punchers chance. He's "battle" experienced and knows that the point is to survive, not look pretty. I believe he told Jaime as much. Other than that set-up/mentality Ned is going down, I agree. Robert Baratheon in his prime? THAT would be a good solid fight. Again, not every shot has to be a headshot. A blow to the knee, to hobble someone gives you a GREAT advantage. Harder for the Mountain, since he is so tall (but not slow) to get a "low" blow in. If in his prime talk... Ser Barristan Selmy? Another guy with a GOOD punchers chance. Bronn has a small chance, but still a chance.
@@berzerkbankie1342 I think you are thinking about Areo Hotah with the glaive/axe thing. Sandoq is a legendary pit fighter of over 100 wins and has likely killed various of different opponents in the fighting pits including mercenaries, slave soldiers, knights, potentially even fierce animals like boars, big cats, bears and even wyverns since in fire and blood, they are mentioned to be transported from Sothoryos to the pits since they are super aggressive.
Sandor should have switched to his backup gear; the shield and long mace he uses to kill a tourney knight on Joffrey's nameday. The mace, like Bobby B.'s hammer, or even Gendry's hammer, is the Anti-Mountain weapon. You have to bludgeon a knight in full plate; they cannot be cut, save a few weak points in the articulation of the armour, like where Oberyn cuts Gregor behind the knee, where it has to be laced on. A mace, hammer, crow's beak polearm, Morningstar, etc. is the kind of weapon Sandor should have taken him out with; his swordsmanship skills are for all practical purposes, irrelevant against his elder brother. But, Sandor's advantage in speed and battle-intelligence, plus a bludgeoning weapon, would really even the odds toward Sandor's side. Gregor is too stupid to exploit Sandor's fear of fire, if he's even cognizant of that fact. Brute force is the only weapon he has, just as Robb pointed out to the Tully idiot. If there was more emphasis on the "planning", "viscera", and "strategy" involved, Clegane Bowl could have been so much more than a fan-service spectacle, ending with double-ambigous fire deaths. Sandor should have been maimed or crippled, certainly, but making it a "draw", was the most dissapointing thing about it. Even if Sandor lost, but wounded him enough that Arya could ninja-leap and take his head off, that would have at least been definitive. So much potential in the Brothers' story, and it ends in the blandess, most disinteresting way possible. (PS. I think with the right gear, Tormund also has a fair shot at clapping Zombie Mountain)
Why dont we craft a HUGE sword and a HUGE armor and give it to one of the giants, then let him 1v1 Gregor. We would get regular mountain vs mount everest.
If it wasn't for Sandor needing the poetic justice I would have been very happy at Gregors fate been killed by an actual giant, would have been very poetic! Thanks for watching! Liam
Fantastic video, and I agree with almost all of your points. The only thing is we know in the books Dawn is a greatsword, not a longsword. I know the show has him wielding a one handed sword. But that was just one of many stupid things they did in that show.. Also since Martin said that Robert's warhammer replica is accurate. The dude is superhumanly strong. So ya he pastes the mountains guts with a single hit. Warriors from other franchises who can beat the Mountain you say? I've got two. Conan the Cimmerian (The story version. In certain stories he wears full plate and wields a greatsword in one hand.) And Wulfgar from the Drizzt series. The man has a massive warhammer and is nearly seven feet tall.
Aye we've got a video planned on Dawn, I really need to stop referring to it as a longsword 😂 though if I wanted to be "that guy" I'm always lambasting, I could point out Greatsword isn't a historical term, its just used to describe a LONGSWORD that comes up to between the elbows and armpits of its user, so ner ner 😂 of course I'm kidding mate! Those picks sound great 👍 I think we'll probably try LOTR vs the mountain before we attack more obscure warriors! Thanks for watching! Liam
@@TheFandomeClips If we are talking Lotr, I'd say Helm Hammerhand probably can. And Elendil as Elindel is also like 7ft tall and wielding a legendary sword. Elindil probably can win with superior skill, and closer stats of reach and strength.
@@crazyscotsman9327 Elindil took down Sauron alongside Gil Galad. I think after the magical beings like wizards, OP elfs and Balrogs he would be the safest bet you can make!
Without his armor he would be far too slow on any battlefield, not to mention a massive target. He's the type of bloke that if he hit you, he's going to kill you in that one hit.. But someone quicker and smaller with the right weapon would make easy work of him.
Big doesn't equal slow my friend, quite the opposite in fact. Its a bit of a myth perpetuated by Hollinwood and its likely due to some writer mistaking speed and agility for Stamnia (which bigger built people don't have as much of in comparison to a smaller person) What makes Gregor slow is in fact his armor, its supposedly twice as thick as regular plate armour, which makes it nigh on impregnable to even armor piercing weapons, but that comes with the trade off of weighing you down. You take that armor armor away and he would likely be explosively quick. The target point is valid though, I know where I'd be pointing my archers 😂 Thanks for watching! Liam
@@TheFandomeClipsIf you’re ludicrously huge you definitely want some serious armor on a battlefield that includes archers. Not one of those situations where it’s a good thing to stand out…

Literal defeat of the Mountain? Check.
Got the confession? Check.
Tywin was implicated as having order the atrocities? *Oh yeah, that’s a check*
My head theory is that Howland was actually a savant of combat, he just doesn’t like to show off. Hence why those squires are Harrenhal beat him up-he didn’t feel like thrashing three dumb teenagers that day and so took mercy. Lyanna understandably misunderstood the situation and thus hijinks ensued.
bro , red viper almost win the battle it was plot armor of mountain who saved him
it doesnt matter if you are 8 ft or 10 ft tall if a spear penetrate your chest and pulled out by the style oberyn did you are dead instantly , battle between them is purely unscientific and fictional

Liam
I don't think grappling is the standard way to defeat anybody with a sword in their hand
Oberyn with no emotion is literally top 3 fighters of GOT. In a trial by combat setting.
Absolutely. Give him prep and he's the westeros answer to Batman! Thanks for watching as always Diaz! Liam
@@TheFandomeClipsLOL!!!
I think Ned had a couple reasons he could do it
Everyone is familiar with Ned being an Honor-tryhard
and his counterfeit victory over Dayne would have put him on a course to becoming a master swordsman if so only he wouldn't be living the lie of 'besting the GOAT' Ned would definitely become the thing he was awarded in error.
second; Ned has Ice - the 2Handed Valyrian greatsword
One of the few weapons in creation that can dismantle The Mountain's full plate.
It can parry without breaking, it's a weapon he's known his whole life.
unfortunately Ned being Ned would never seek 'trial by combat' (for himself)
this is a purely hypothetical situation
In the show, yes I totally agree : why everyone say show Jaime is the best before losing hand (would beat Hero Jon era) but we don't see him fight exepect against Ned, but they say Ned is not that good ? Same arguments, same level of fighting, show or tell ; Ned in the show is in the top of the heap easy.
Ned was a very good fighter, but he wasn't elite. Ned had a lot of heart so he was no coward but I'm not putting him in the top 5.
@@lukeedison1632 book Jon wasn’t a good fighter.

Lots of people use hammers and maces or axes.
Oh, and show us a damn manticore
One advantage Sandor has: He's been preparing for this fight with his brother for most of his life, while Gregor is very likely to underestimate him because means older brothers ALWAYS do when it comes to their siblings.
Sandor for certain has been taking mental notes and has been looking for weaknesses
Imo Barric was sent instead of Loris because he's way more expendable. Losing the Tyrell boy would've been awful for the capital

I know the red wedding was the big shock episode for most, but I’ll never forget how surprised and gutted I was when oberyn died.
Imagine! Would've been awesome...I still believe that Cersi would try to kill king Robert somehow.
thoros wasnt just a tourney night he was the first man through the breach at pyke alongside Jorah the explorer Ned saw beric as an actual soldier not a tourney night which Loras totally was if Ned hadnt have been injured he would have road against the mountain as well

I think Qyburn can, in the books...
Liam
I'll be honest i don't think that's what that means
in both shows and books nobody knows how Ned killed Dayne
Jaime should have expected at least that much
that being said i do think Jaime would have won with low risks of losing
unless Howland was hiding somewhere in Kingslanding 😂
if Howland Reed was around the corner lurking then Jaime would have died with 2 hands like his idol did definitely a death he would accept

Here's a fight that should be be talked about Dario vs Oberyn or Bronn.

He gets absolutely destroyed. No armor and shit weapons to combat armor. This means he has to get in close with his daggers. Get in close against a guy 1,5ft taller and like 150lbs heavier and vastly stronger than him. He'd get Oberyn'd.

Liam
A longsword is a two-handed sword. Not a greatsword, but a two-hander for sure.
If Oberyn didn't have the spear he would have had much more trouble
He’s actually in part 2… - Thom
Aero Hotah? That’s a very nice axe he has. And he is too the human specimen. 😊

One thing you do have to remember is that Dawn is a Greatsword in the books, I don’t know if this would be a good or a bad thing in this fight.

I don't blame Thom though, I'm guessing that section messed with the flow and pace of the video, but yeah it leaves me with egg on my face a little 😂

Great idea 💡 👍 and I've added it to our list of potential ideas! Thanks for watching! Liam
@@BalooSJ if any army had gone north it would have been broke at moat cailin just like every host prior
There are only two types of good fighters: the 'cheese' one and the 'git gud' one.
Basically a hollow one from Darksouls
You forgot about ned stark's wolven rage
Longswords were actually quite good Vs plate armor, which is why knights carried them. A knight wouldn't swing at another knight with a longsword, he would thrust at any weak spots in his opponents armor
Also of note is that if Sandor or Selmy get a swing on Gregor with their massive brass balls he is done for, out of envy if nothing else 😂
Man I wish we had more fighters to fill another vid, this would so win our Joke suggestion 😂 and its true, thanks for watching Omega! Liam
It's a shame we don't know more of Maelys the Monstrous otherwise I would put him somewhere in the list, if the stories about him are true he did kill a horse with a punch and twisted his cousin's head off so he would be in the ballpark of Gregor if not stronger.
He certainly sounds like he was a match for Gregor on the strength front and it took God DAM Barristan the Badass to put him down, you know your a bad mofo when they have to send Selmy after you 😂
God can move mountains, allegedly
you forgot john snow. "the way the northmen talk, you were the greatest swordsmen to ever live"
Authur Dayne (Greatsword dawn and fully armored) vs Deamon Targaryen (Dark Sister and fully armored) who yall got
Thats my two cents!

so i got a questions for you guys if you could build a kings guard with any characters who would your 7 be ? also if you want a more challenging question. who would be your kings guard per kingdom like for the north you can only pick northmen , or for the reach you can only pick reachmen.
Oh easy, Sandor, Oberyn, Bobby, Selmy, Dayne, Ned and Tyrion. (No Jaime because if I want to blow up Kings landing its my bloody right as king to do so!!!)
I think with those 7 you've got a good mix of fighting skills, a poison expert and two who bring other skills like intelligence.

We'll have a go at LOTR vs the Mountain one day matey! Liam
@@andylaw3222 aragorn Legolas the sons of elrond and Prince Imrahil of dol amroth literally survived the battle of pelanor fields unscathed
i’ve never read the books (i’m going to though) but show only character i see arya beating the mountain as he was on her list and i’m sure she would prepare something similar to oberyns technique and pull it off
Maybe a video on GOT characters who had the potential to become great warriors if they more time and experience to mature their skills, like Gendry or Jon snow
Love the idea! Ill pass it on to Thom! Thanks for watching August! Liam
What about prime yohn royce? He is as tall as the hound, nearly as strong as him and is quite a skilled warrior
Not enough footage of the guy, Thom would never allow it Blaze 😂 but from what I've heard Yohn Royce is a beast and I certainly wouldn't write him off as having a shot! Thanks for watching! Liam
Five people who could beat the mountain, and the rest of the population that can’t.
I know, for the OG ASOIAF fans, Robert Baratheon has a special place in ours hearts. If we ever get a TV series adaptation of Robert's rebellion, who do you think should play Robert Baratheon? I go with Chris hemsworth.
Its got to be someone likable and charismatic (that was as big a reason he won the war as much as his fighting skills were)
Hemsworth is a great shout if he can do the accent! I'm a stickler of accents 😂
I do hope if we do get a prequel that we get to see the darker side of Robert too though, you can't win every battle and war as a whole by playing nice and honorable all the time.
Thanks for watching! Liam
Hemsworth is way to old to play Robert during the rebellion. Hemsworth is 2 years shy of being the age of Robert when Robert died.
Chris is arguably too old by quite a way bobby and ned were not much older than robb during the rebellion
You should do a crossover battle between Aragorn son of Arathorn King of Gondor and Andor vs Gregor Clegane!
I'm sure we'll get to rings vs thrones at some point 😂 thanks for watching!
You are talking bullshit, Robert wasn't born a king , he won more encounters than Gregor had seen în his life , and when you say Robert you are not thinking of him ,you are thinking at Mark Addy
The hammer is a much more effective weapon in a 1v1 than a sword , no matter what Hollywood would make you think
Gregor is overhyped because there are many fighters în the book who prove far much stronger than him who are never mentioned : Godry Farrel and Greatjon Umber
A question that is only half in jest, could drogon defeat the mountain in a trial by combat?
We’ve already seen that the man won’t spare animals…. Like his poor horse
Pretty sure Drogon will eat Greg for dinner and still have room for desert 😂
A “nick” from the Mountain hits harder than a brush with another pit-fighter
@@warlordofbritannia Is that really a thing? Isn't depth the main factor by far?
@@BDnevernind
You can’t get only slightly slashed by an eight foot monstrosity’s greatsword. Just the force of the impact would send you reeling.
What about theon's uncle? Do you think he could win against the mountain?
We addressed him in the video 😂
Daemon I Blackfyre The King Who Bore The Sword would make mincemeat of Gregor.
Nope not at all
The only thing that I will give to Ned Stark (not being in his prime necessary but being younger helps) is that with ICE, is that Valyrian swords can (not always) cut thru "regular" swords.
Bronn has a small chance, but still a chance.
i hate that TV filter
Sandoq, Bobby B, and Oberyn prob the best choices in going against the mountain ngl
If only we had some footage of Sandorq :/ dude sounds like an absolute legend 🙌 Thanks for watching Matt! Liam
Me: Sandoq? The body guard guy from Dorne?
@@berzerkbankie1342 I think you are thinking about Areo Hotah with the glaive/axe thing. Sandoq is a legendary pit fighter of over 100 wins and has likely killed various of different opponents in the fighting pits including mercenaries, slave soldiers, knights, potentially even fierce animals like boars, big cats, bears and even wyverns since in fire and blood, they are mentioned to be transported from Sothoryos to the pits since they are super aggressive.
Stannis the Mannis would get him, with a little fire magic
The Mannis wouldn't even waste the effort on a scrub like Gregor 😂 thanks for watching!Liam
Liam
