  • Hun’s character was specifically created for the 2003 series as the leader of the street gang Purple Dragons. The franchise has witnessed several villains across the decades, and Hun always makes it to the list of some of the best villains, and why wouldn’t he? His character arc is as conflicted as he is personally. Hun is like a ping pong ball, going from one side to another after gaining new momentum and information. He might be a villain, and committed some really bad stuff, but as described in the IDW comics, he isn’t an inherently bad person. Speaking of the comics, the writers from different publishers handled his story arc in extremely different ways, and Hun has been portrayed in both negative and positive lights.
    Furthermore, the various TV shows also played with his story arc in any way they felt like. In this video, we will talk about his first appearance on television and Hun’s origin story from the comics. So, sit back and relax as we take you on the journey of one of the best yet underrated villains of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise:

    Hun was not as inconsistent in the 2003 series as you make it sound. As the turtles improved, so did he and their other adversaries. As a result there were moments he could take on one or all four of them with Casey and Splinter. Just like how sometimes the turtles struggled against nameless foot while also take down an army of them with minimum effort.
    He was very much evil and enjoyed it. He only every “changed” because he found out that his master, a man he respected and idolized, was just an alien in a robotic suit. He despises everything that’s not human, which is why he calls the turtles, aliens and etc. freaks. The best example of this was how after finding out the truth and Shredder was defeated, Hun just left the Foot completely and instead opted to elevate the Purple Dragons to the top of the food chain in New York instead of joining or otherwise aiding Karai when she tried to avenge him.
    Lastly the reason he joined up with Shredder (again) in Turtles Forever was due to getting mutated into a turtle by the mutagen/ooze the 80’s turtles were carrying, which he flat out said he was planning on using against the Shredder after they said he was back, and only helped the turtles (after attacking them again) due to Shredder literally causing their universe to slowly wipe from existence.

    • @firewarrior8298
      @firewarrior8298 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bradford and xever were both similar to 2003 hun as humans
      Bradford filled the role of shredder’s burly second in command while Xever was the foot’s connection with street gangs
      I think the reason 2012 Hun was so different was the fact that most of his roles were already filled by different characters.

    Hun’s portrayal has always been quite vexing. He’s always been portrayed as Shredder’s right hand man, but it always seemed that he should have been given his own arc as a major antagonist. Casey fighting Hun to avenge his father definitely felt like it should have been a saga in the 2003 series, but I feel like the writers just glossed over it due to time constraints. I would have loved to see Casey finally get his revenge on Hun for what he did to his dad.
