    Another fine job there mick,farmer will be showing off when it's painted, can you not get a fan nozzle for blasting cover more area faster for paint and a bit of rust ?

    • @Mobileblaster
      @Mobileblaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they don't add much to my tool box for the price to be fair yeah the fan out but you have to spend longer on that area to clean the wider pattern. Only real way of makeing it faster is more air but my license is maxed out with what I have 😳 to be fair I'm running 2 and 3x what some blasting firms are using near me 👌 I've been on a 600cfm unit today and do I know about it I've feel like I've done a 24 hour shift haha

      As a guy who did it for a couple years iñ a body shop, its very satisfying, its quìte therapeutic, however you will at times be out in the bitter cold doing it for 8-10 hours a day, rolling around in god knows what, and when you have to mask off components in that weather its a nightmare because tape barely sticks in the cold, there is also commercial blasting and white blasting, commercial blasting is removing the scale and contaminates to allow paint to stick, quicker but not as satisfying, white blasting is removing everything to bare substrate, like what this guy does, looks alot better and satisfying as hell, but takes alot longer, when you live in canada and have to do it in -30 Celsius its a nightmare, so its love hate for me

    Mick, do you find a slight angle of the nozzle(instead of straight on) helps deliver a faster speed of cut, or no?

    • @Mobileblaster
      @Mobileblaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes and no. Yes on some jobs. Some times it's just as fast dead on
      Ideally hitting at an angle is faster its hard to explain what I mean haha 😂

    • @weldersandblaster
      @weldersandblaster 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally hitting it straight on is the fasted stripping action as ricochets waste much of the energy.

    Really enjoying your vids Mick. I have a Clemco 1440 pot that i use just for my hobby restoring WW2 military vehicles. I use JBlast supafine and i have a 130cfm compressor. The pot has the small water trap it comes with but i find i sometimes get problems with grit getting wet and plugging the pot up. Its really frustrating, because i waste some much grit clearing the blockages. Would outside temperature make a difference? I find i am constantly having to adjust the grit valve trying to get the optimum flow without wastage. Thanks. Richard

    • @Mobileblaster
      @Mobileblaster  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Warm compressor up do abit of blasting disconnect the air and turn it on a tad (so the claw and air line is still on the compressor) dose it have a blue tint? Blow abit on the back of your hand is it oily? Could be that the compressor is due a service nothing to do with the pot 1440 is nearly identical to the pot I'm running at the moment 2040 but the will do the same job jist that 1 will hold an extra bag or 2. What water trap is on it the 1 from clemco as factory?

    • @Mobileblaster
      @Mobileblaster  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      May not even be an air issue drop the media fully open grit valve drop the choke live it down and shake pot whale it's running till its fully empty then most important bit sive the media even brand new fresh out of the bag a sive is ya best time saver most important key to blasting 👌

    Back in the 80's at the garage I worked a squaddie brought his German registered car to get reg plates swapped for uk plates says to him did he want the plates back he said keep them so I did , was telling wor kid , he says can I borrow them , his mate had bought a ex US army water bowser on a GMC chassis and had to collect it from down south somewhere , sod used them more than once without telling me took them off him in the end , would have got lynched off that squaddie if he had got caught never mind loosing my job .

      silica is absolutely carcinogenic, idk where you heard that.

    • @Mobileblaster
      @Mobileblaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Getithowyoulive863 yes your right silica(found in kiln dry sand) is very harmful to health glass media is silica free makeing it a better alternative. Sand blasting with kiln dry sand has been banned in the UK from the late 60s for this reason. Crushed glass has been approved and listed as having no free silica init the only toxins that could be in the dust is lead based paint I test for this beforehand. On this job it was water based paint. I wouldn't advise breathing the dust in but it's not carcinogenic 👍

      Shooting a flat surface like that, the media ricochets off to the side and not back at you. However, when blasting into a small corner or cavity, the air turns around and comes right back at you, and then it can sting a bit.

      I cannot really say it would be down to you are you going as 1 man? What workload you plan on doing? What compressor/dryer? Do you want to use soda etc lots of factors at play just to say 1 blast pot suits all you can even pic high or low pressure pots I've built my own and use this as I couldn't find a pot that met my needs. I'm hoping to get it protected so I can offer it to market 1 day :)
