Angron is a great model, the only problem is that he is not different enough from a greater demon of Khorne. I mean, Morarion is the coolest, and he doesn´t look like a great unclean one.
yeah , it s hard to come with a unique look for angrons when in the lore he is not that much different from other Greater Khorn Demon

@@ysbrann3059 There is an old artwork of Angron that have an expression of both anger and pain. The new model just looks like a generic angry expression and looks cartoonish.
Exactly. He should have been modeled with alot more of his orginal self and armor shining through.

As a World Eaters player I'm perfectly happy with the Angron model. The model is based off old artwork and him looking like a Bloodthirster is in keeping with the way Khorne operates.
It also demonstrates just how far he's fallen into chaos.
Yeah, I keep hearing the statement " he just looks like a Bloodthirster", and all I can think is "Yeah...that's basically what Daemon Angron is, a roided out Bloodthirster in WE gear, really didn't expect any different".
Personally I also think he looks good, he looks like a monstrous beast that will rip and tear into his enemies, and that's all I ask of a Daemon Angron model.
Also WE player, also happy with the model. The pose is good too. All the lore before his ascension described his walk as almost an apex predator stalking prey, I think the pose definitely nails it. Less hunched, more stalking. That's how it reads to me though.
I also love seeing people compare him to the other daemon primarchs and think he's not mutated enough. Where those who claim skulls for the skull throne are fully aware that Khorne is simple, he doesn't need a lot of variety, he basically just has blood thirsters in different sizes and shapes for all his daemons. Lol he figured out a daemon design that was real good at letting blood flow and just copy and pasted 'cause that's all Khorne needs.

I sorta agree about Angron, I think the hunched pose isn't doing him any favors. He needs a more dynamic pose and a flashier base, look at Belakor or Mortarion's bases and poses, they fill out the model. Aangron is conceptually cool but the hunched pose hurts it I think.
What’s funny is that Jay wanted a more animalistic model, but that’s why Angron is hunched rather than standing up straight. He said that the wings should be tattered, yet they are decimated. I think the model is cool, but all in all Jay should just paint him bloodier and more destroyed.
I see the pose as less of him being hunched and more like he just landed into battle. Hence the more crouched stance. I think it's really cool. Makes me want to start a world eaters army
That squat vehicle looks like something out of the Futurama theme park ride on the Moon, where people in the far future imagine how things were back in the 1960s.
I think Angron's pose looks like a crouching beast, preparing to pounce on it's prey and rip it to shreds
Haven't been liking the Votann as much as I thought I would. Was expecting "space Kharadron Overlords", but so far they don't feel "dwarfy" to me. More like a clean, high tech human faction, like the Interex from 30k.
Vehicle-wise at least, they feel a bit like the Tau, a little too clean and fresh off the showroom floor for the 40K universe. It needs that little something in the aesthetic that emphasizes a galaxy mired in decay, stagnation and strife. Maybe a touch of Mad Max, although not as far as Orks; a bit cobbled together, but by expert hands instead of scrapyard hooligans. And having typed that out, I think I just described the GSC.
@@robsilvester6213 while I love the mad max grin dark feeling a lot of the factions in 40K have (especially the skitarii) it can be nice to have a variety so that literally everything isn’t grim dark for the sake of grim dark
Without knowing anything about demon angron in the lore, I always imagined him as completely feral and beastial. On all fours, giant claws and twisted into a giant khorne hound demon dragon thing.
That's exactly how he is when the nails are kicking in. Hunched back, can barely speak a complete sentence, drooling, and feral.
I gotta say I absolutely love Angron's model. Probably one of my favorites of all time really. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!!
That squat joint is so mass effect, I love it
For angron I think 1. More cables have them going all the way down his back. 2. Bigger axe if his thing is close combat make that apparent with an actually intimidating weapon 3. A better pose. Axe above his head ready to fall down on whoever hes attacking,

The hunched pose with pulled in wings makes him look scared. Would have looked better if he was running or jumping down with open wings while swinging his weapons at an invisible enemy.
He is not a hunter, he is a blood crazy slaughterer.
Oh well, who cares, i prefer Morty and his Death Guard anyways :)

Love the Sagitaur, can't believe they brought this out for 40K and not for the Ash Wastes Squats, makes so much more sense than the Ridgehauler (open cockpit and gun emplacements on a poisonous Ash waste!!)
i disagree that angron looks like another blood thirster when comparing him to any other blood thirster gw has created i just don't see the similarities other than hes big and red, he has more human features, his face for example every other blood thirster looks more like some animal a bull or having a spiky looking generic demon monster face while angrons has a more human looking face ( which is long because hes doing his war cry which i think prob sounds likea t rex).
his armor is way different than anything a bloodthirster has because its basically his 30k amour that they added spikes to to make more chaosy because chaos. it much more ornate and shows signs of his past like the now demonic, his shoulder pad from his time a slave in nuceria i think its called, , the chains around his weapons also a custom from back then, and i think it covers most of his body ( cant see all of it) unlike most blood thisters who dont really wear much armor at all and love showing off their legs. and i think the armor is fine unsure why angron would have broken armor he isnt taking hits , hes dishing them out. and lore reason? prob part of his body now so they also prob regenerate with him idk, magic. It might just be the paint job, someone adding in some dust and wear and tear might make it more appealing for people.
His skin is also super different less sinewy? smoother like a humans, also his tail i think thats prob the biggest thing that makes him different really from other blood thirsters, all the other blood thirsters have teeny tiny little itty bitty tails, angron has the biggest fucking tail, and you know what they say about big tails? large radius to swipe enemies behind you with. and his wings are like other blood thirsters except.... thiccccer with 4 c's. and he has a sword AND axe all the other guys have axes ora whip and axe.
and lastly i think hes more demonic than his other brothers because while he didn't really give himself to khorne (his brother did that) he just fully accepted khorne, embracing khorne full and his beastly nature of anger and blood thirst because when angron turned he had already lost himself to the bloodlust prob no longer capable of rational thought due to the butcher's nails made him unable to retain much if any of his former self while his brothers could.
Bro that model of Angron Is dope best demon in awhile beside Belakor.

So far i have to say that the new Angron is the best new model released, i love the squats, but they dont have much of a unique design to their stuff, so far, whereas tau weren't very grimdark but were unique, Squats so far aint that unique in comparison.
yeah, but that make sense ,they got the tech from the era where Warhammer universe was not that muchdifferent from other Science fi universe like MAss Effect
@@ysbrann3059 oh i know, dont get me wrong, i love them, its just that really, their tech, unlike in tau case where yes some of their suits look like gundam but have some twist to them to look unique and original, squats stuff looks like it has been pulled from those universes, and i can even name them:
The buggy from mass effect andromeda;
The exos from doom eternal and doom 2016;
The bots are very generic, they could even fit in star wars;
The infantry looks like it came out from star wars legends (the one and only true canon).
Its not a bad thing, of course, but when you look at something like the forge fathers from another continuity (non gw) , they are much more unique and dwarf-ish, thats it really, then again its a matter of personal preference.
I think they should've opened Angron up. Like his wings could be spread out, or like he's attacking with them. The axe could've been bigger and lifted up at an attacking angle with a giant claw hand tearing at the air.

Love the design of this atv. It sort of gives a better sense of what the larger vehicles may look like. I'm looking forward to the tanks now
Angron is a great sculpt. I just think the design of him in Lore is just meh. Mortarion, Belakor and Magnus are just so much more imposing and striking. For me it's his face that looks abit generic to me. I'm putting my bets SQUATS (40k yes) are getting a HOVER TANK or a giant mech yes.

I agree with you about Angron.
I think it should be more human, just not to be another bloodthirster. Like having normal human legs and maybe a little bit more human face.
The other option is going in your direction, and try to be not like a bloodthirster at all
I imagined votann flyers looks like a combination of unsc pelican and terran dominion's medivac dropship
I went into sorta similar direction with it. Fantasy dwarves had copters and I immediatly thought of Starcraft Banshee. In Wings of Liberty campaign there was also this big transport flyer "Hercules" and, as I started thinking about older Lego Rock Raiders/Power Miners series after seeing the ATV, there were similar big vtol flyer models with glowy engines or propellers on sides in these collections.
I'm really digging the Squat ATV. But the frame on the bubble canopy is going to be a bit of a pain to paint. Break out the brush on primer!
The Warhammer dwarves already had a dwarf-train before, but it was a Fantasy Chaos dwarf Forge World thing.

You’re right about Angron. He has a closed pose and Morty and Magnus have an open pose. Angron needs to have a I’m issuing a challenge pose. Like come at me Bro! But I’m 40K. I love the squat buggy! And motorizing it would be dope! I feel like there is a lot of pressure on how to come up with how to say “how” now. Haha!! Great video!! Jay your painting is amazing! I think if you paint a death guard with an air brush, you could really utilize the over spray. Thanks gents!!!
Those Eldar you painted up towards the end of the video look really impressive- vivid, sharp and well based.
I agree that Votann ATV is a really, really cool model. I'm tempted to get it just to throw it on a Stargrave table or something like that.
Gotta be more carefull! Siri firing the shuriken catapults on your glider could have caused havok! So glad that Apples voicerecognition sucks.
Angron definitely looks like a kit bashed Bloodthirster/demon prince/Belakor. His wings, feet, body shape are very bloodthrister. The only thing that makes him Angron to me verse any other Bloodthirster or generic world eater demon prince is are his Butchers Nails and the armor around his head. Everything else is pretty much just a bloodthrister with kitbashed armor. I could definitely see myself having to double check that I'm doing something with Angron on the table top if any non-leaping posed Bloodthrister is put down. "Angron is gonna attack." "Dude, that's my Bloodthrister, Angron's over here."
Couldn't agree more about Angron. I get that he's (in lore) supposed to look like a Bloodthirster, but not capitalising on it and making a truly unique version for Angron that stands out from the Greater Daemon crowd, is just lazy modelling.
A more humanoid face, slender body and no tail (no Bloodthirster gets a tail!) would almost be enough to turn him from an additional Skarbrand kit and move him into a true Primarch. I love your idea of the beaten and haggard look too! Really sell that he's done nothing for the last 10,000 years except war.
I have to disagree , if angron was sat beside all the greater demons and was asked which is angron assuming ive never seen him before, id pick angrons model 10 times out of 10, he looks 75%( made up %) different than any other greater demon, more human while looking like a demoninc beast. His face is more human than any of the GDs, also your asking for him to be different than a blood thirster but want to remove his tail becuase blood thirsters don't t have tails? ( they do have tails) also idk how banishment works but hes probably only been fighting in the warp since armageddon so i do t think youd notice any dmg
@@GuthanSlayer other than the World Eaters iconography, there's not much to go off. The face is in no way more human, apart from some minor hair tendrils. I don't know how you came up with your made up percentage :P. He's a big red monster with some additional iconography. The old FW Bloodthirster screams Angron much more to me than this attempt.
With a slightly more 'Angron' face, some roman/Greco reintroduced features (such as the leather tendrils that adorned his armor) and a more stretched out and imposing sculpt, then I could almost get behind the majority of this design. But right now, it just doesn't cut my biscuits.
The bubble gunner canopy is reminiscent of the vehicle from Spacehunter... the whole 'ATV' looks like what would have been in Spacehunter if they'd have had a ridiculously high budget on that movie. The design is too toyetic for me, but potential Squat players are going to have a bunch of nice stuff!
Oh Jay, just to give you the real-world word for the dual-hulled boat thingy, it's a 'catamaran'!

I really like the angron model because when you realize his wings are his old arms he has the little plugs that space mari use to connect to the armour on his wings and he grew new arms

Have to agree on Angron, I’ve always pictured him as almost a gorilla pose, arms back, head up, chest out , weapons dripping with blood and him roaring challenge to the universe.
With the gravitas armour model, see if you can find a domed piece of clear plastic, such as what you'd find in a gachapon machine. It might look cool as a kind of space suit. You may have to replace his helmeted head with a bare head to make it make sense, though.
I always imagine Angron bounding into battle on all fours a bit like a Silver Back Gorilla/Kong with foes flying in all directions. Missed opportunity I think.
Well angron fell VERY hard to khorne, a slave to him even. What I would have liked to see though would be a more upright pose/charging pose though. I think he looks fine, just hope he has some different posing options!
All of the demon primarchs are slaves to their god, that's what happens when you reach demonhood

Angron should have a big "Come at me bro!" Pose. I do like that he has his weapons chained to his wrists, which is another thing that identifies him as Angron.

You like what you like I guess. I think Angron is the best model they have ever made to this point full stop.
Yeah, Angron is just a bit bland. A different pose would have helped. Like having him with his chest wide open, showing his strenght, maybe with chains coming out his arms and falling on the ground as if they were for restraining him. Kinda as nod to the fact that WE attached chains to their weapons but also to show that he is still a slave to his own anger. I mean he's got the chains but they're just...there, dangling harmlessy.

Like the angron model, dont play chaos but hes pretty slick. Not a big fan of the squat bubble buggy
I think what kills angron's model is the wings. If you remove the wings it's more interesting, like grouping before a sprint. Also, if the forward hand (next to the ground) had no weapon in it, it could look like he is just readying for a violent charge, one hand flat on the ground, almost like a leg (thus almost a four legged charging creature). After all, who need s wings if you can just run and jump and bump things out of the way?
Angron is my favourite model every day of the week plus he so strong he is almost never scratched so he has everything fine(my opinion not accurate)
One thing I noticed about Angron is that your eye is drawn most to the wing bicep. Like its much brighter than the rest of his body and is located right in the middle of the picture. Youre not looking at his face or anything, youre looking at this side thing

For me there's a lot about the Angron model that I love. I do wish his pose was a bit more aggressive and dynamic, but I love the armor, I love the daemon sword as a nice call-back to the Black Blade, and I love the massive chainaxe.
My only real issue with the model is kind of the most important part in many ways; The face. The old official art of daemon Angron showed his face as being rather slender, skeletal/skull-like and predatory. Meanwhile the model has a wide-framed face, this broad lower jaw and a sort of weird little pig nose. The only parts of his face really reminiscent of the old art are the eyes and the roaring, fang-filled maw.
Actually, Angron climbing over terrain on all fours like a demon monkey works great. Currently he's a spicy bloodthirster.

Yeah I have the same thoughts about Angron... I dont really know if I like it that much, but on the other hand it has some nice parts.

For your gravis guy, you could do a bare head and then in that extra chest space put some display screens so it looks like he gets battlefield updates without a helmet HUD
to me it is mostly Angrons wings that i don't like.

Yeah same. I was watching thinking I'd probably not give him the wings and then head-canon any in-game ability to fly as him just hulk-jumping massive distances
from what you're saying about angron, i imagine him more like the berserker armor from berserk but dragon instead of wolf
If i had to guess i bet squats will get some sort of helicopter fliers, we dont really have a ton of them and the round dome windows on other vehicles look like a good fit for that kind of vehicle
I got Mortarion as a gift and just like with Ghaz I modeled him in the different stance that it is allowed to be modeled that is not shown on the box so my belief is that Angron will have a 2nd way that they can be modeled.
Starting to think the Squats are like if Tau was released today, very divisive design wise. Some things look cool but it feels like there is a clash between like Norse iconography and a more retro sci-fi vibe the ATB and the hover bike has
I wish they did two things for Angron: 1) his armor was under his skin, like bone plates with the spike spoking through; 2) his whole body is covered with scars or open wounds. It would add a lot of interesting textures, distinguish him from the other blood thirsters, and it wod make sense with the lore, "blood for the blood god!"
Yeah Angron should have had like a more upright, arms out come at me bro stance with his face bellowing out a roar of pure rage instead of the evil kind of sneer he looks to have. Outstretched wings could have looked good too. But yeah more wear and tear and scars and stuff would have given off all the battle he would have seen (and number of times he's jobbed and been beaten by everyone they need to make a supreme badass by beating a Daemon Primarch). Also more blood. He isn't nearly bloody enough.
I think just posing might help a bit with Angron. I love the model, but I am thinking, when I get the model, I might actually re-pose him to be charging like his Heresy model.
Imagine a squat ufo, I don’t think they’d do it but a cool modernised flying saucer with unique rules would be cool
I'm looking at One Page Rules (became a Patron for then recently) and if I ever collect an army of Human Inquisition I'd love to get a couple of those to convert them as troop transports. That'd be so cool.

In my opinion something that would make Angron more unique would be to change the wings for another pair of arms with weapons, like if two arms was not enough for the amount of carnage he wanted
They should have posed Angron in a power stance, feet apart, arms out, the jaw wider open with more visible spikey teeth, wings open, like he's roaring out. Maybe an alternate hand where he is holding half a contemptor dreadnought that he ripped apart. I agree, as he stands, he looks like Bloodthirster Model #3. Also I wish there was a Daemon Primarch for Chaos Undivided. One that doesn't sit a certain army too closely, Angron is Khorne through and through, Morty is Nurgle, Magnus could work for a Slannesh or Tzeeztztzch one. But there isn't a "generic" one unfortunately. Which would be nice.

I think if they made angron more lurching or rushing into a fight instead of the staring you down pose it could work better even without changing much of the look of the model.
The difference is that the magnus and mortar ion models still show who they used to be. There are traces of their original character designs despite their now demonic forms. The problem for Angron is that he didn’t have much that was memorable or unique about his primarch model, and the new model does little to change that.
If there were no blood thirster models, Angron would be perfect. Now he is just one among many Khorne demons. He looks nice tho. The Dwarf truck however looks like Playmobil.
Also that atv looks like it needs to be picking up resources on LV-426.
Someone on Reddit noted that his wings are his warped human arms. You can spot the coils in the wing arms signifying those were his arms. The arms holding the weapons are his new daemon arms. I thought that was creative and pretty cool. That being said, the sculpt isn't angry enough. Votann isn't doing it for me. So far, they're just short space marines. Pretty boring. I do like the lore they created.
I like that Squat model only because it shows the possibilities of what their "mechas" would look like (I am full of hopium)
But ye that Angron model is just epic. What comes to the suggestions you said, if his face would more like what Archaeon model has in its dragon mount, it would look better face for him.

The problem isn't the Angron model isn't the problem. The problem was the lore for Angron, in his lore it straight describes him as just a beefer Blood Thrister
Squat fliers should look like the Zion hovercraft (like Morpheus' ship the Nebuchadnezzar) in the Matrix movies. Basically the same profile as the ATV, but instead of wheels it has these big, chonky, adjustable discs crackling static electricity.
Is the visarch on 28mm base like the rest of the corsairs ?

its not an issue, I have no problem using speed paint and then using normal acrylics right on top
@@EonsOfBattle Okaaay. So you don't varnish the miniature over the layer of speedpaint? That's interesting. Why is almost anybody else reporting the problem of reactivation? I mights try out one or two Speedpaints myself.
Every time angels dies Khorne says nope and drags him back. That’s possibly why his armor is clean.
But for irl it’s just the paint job. I like the model but I wanted him to be standing up. he would look more impressive and imposing.
The Angron model would look way more imposing with two simple changes: spread the wings to make him more imposing, and the axe arm should be posed out and up like his sword arm to open his pose and make it look like he is charging with abandon
The ATV kinda looks like the Armadillo from the movie Armageddon. I dig it.

I’m not loving the Angron model but Khorne was never my thing anyway. I think the ATV wins for me, but I’m not sure I’m sold on a new army of dwarves yet either - I love they’re coming back but I already have my two armies
it the squats keep making models that feel like the atv im sold. the infantry has been fine... but this looks really fun.
The most awkward part of Angron are his wing biceps and what looks like wing armpit hair (though that could just be weird shoulder hair and it's just a trick of the camera).
I feel that the release of angron and the argument “it looks like a blood thirster” has lead to the realisation that about 90% of warhammer players seem to not know anything about world eaters
I think the Angron pose is the biggest issue, the new Ka Bhanda model has an excellent pose - they should’ve swapped them
ATV reminds me of the big buggy in prometheus movie.
I think Bloodhound knight Darriwill is a really good example of how to make an armoured character seem insane and animalistic
Personally, I like the Angron figure and I'm just not into the whole LoV thing so while the ATV looks ok I couldn't give two hoots about it. I'm expecting LoV to be a major flop! Lets hope they aren't one of the sides included in the 10th edition boxset when it comes out or I'll have to avoid it!

I think a lot of Angron's issues come from his hunched over and fairly passive pose.
