I really need to get back into roasting.
I purchased thrift store books on medicine and first aide, gardening, survival, cookbooks, etc. In case the internet is not available. Also tore up flannel sheets into 6-8" squares for reusable toilet wipes. Place clean in a small basket and used in a covered diaper pail or pot with a lid

When the news about covid-19 started showing up on tv in December, I was pro active and started stopping at the stores almost daily after working 3rd shift, the dollar tree had cheap toilet paper, disinfecting spray, etc all the stuff people were unable to find . when everyone was waiting in lines at the store my family and I were comfortable at home....no need to get it everything in one trip, but getting a few items over time adds up. We were able to help some elderly neighbors and family because we were pro active. Stay safe and keep preparing.
Great video, I just found your channel. I've stockpiled matches, salt & cotton socks for bartering. Matches & salt are cheap. Cotton socks....a lot of people will have sewing kits & can repair an item of clothing for a long time. But socks can't be continuously darned in my experience. White cotton socks will be wanted 👍

If you haven't stockpiled considering family and friends you will be short. Most of family isn't worried about prepping. How can you send them away to starve? This will be impossible for most so plan for them too! Besides the extra help with getting everyday task and guarding your family and stockpiles will be beneficial.
Here are my top 10 supplies for prolonged grid-down that preppers often do not consider stock-piling in a large enough amount: iodized salt, granulated white cane sugar, ascorbic acid powder, oral rehydration powder packets, naproxen sodium tablets, Everclear liquor, raw honey, Dutch process cocoa powder, dental floss and toothbrushes. Bartering ammo, outside a tight circle of good friends, is a fools game. Stockpile ammo ? Yes. The best survival item is a sound mind and body. Best barter item, is useful hands on skills. I'm beginning to lean towards rechargeable batteries for personal use. Want to know what shelves empty first ? Simply hit different stores the day before a hurricane is supposed to make landfall. That's how I learned that frozen corn goes faster than batteries and water. Go figure... Oh, and park in the back of the lot when doing a pre-hurricane survey. The percentage of dumbasses multiplies greatly during crisis events. When I go out during such events, it's to observe and take notes.

White gas is the exact same petroleum distillate as zippo fluid but it's 8 dollars a gallon instead of 3 dollars for a lil can... Good for lanterns cooking stoves and Zippos.
Instead of buying a big bottle of liquor and small bottles to pour it in, why not just get mini bottles. That way you have a variety - tequila, vodka, whiskey, etc. Plus they would be more valuable because they are sealed. Personally I would not trade for something that had been opened.

Buy $10 worth every now and then, and you are set. Plus you can guarantee their purity as they have not been opened. I agree with you that it is a valuable item, and have a shoebox full of them. You can neatly fit 50-60 in a shoebox.
@Sharon Bice sounds good. I sometimes do Turkish style and just pour boiling water into a cup with a big scoop of coffee grounds - and stir it up. Most eventually settles to bottom. Makes a strong cup. Instant coffee is longer lasting though and easier more efficient. Compared to No coffee instant is a Godsend.
Good advice but what good is canning if you can’t get lids like right now and the grid isn’t even down yet. I refuse to buy the made in China lids as they are not of good quality. I’ve used them and had way to many failures with them. Love the idea of a freeze dryer but they are expensive.
I would stock barricading supplies in the event that you would need to bug in. You could always turn your office desk up against the front door but that doesn’t prevent anyone from smashing a window.
I stocked up on batteries on Amazon, it was cheaper than Wal-Mart. I got extra cr123 batteries and cr2032 batteries. They're used for high powered flashlights, lasers, and reddots. Gota be gun ready always, with plenty of spares for friends

I would add to the list, lighters, yeast and sugar, buy a distiller as that can remove radioactivity, dirt and impurities whilst also making alcohol for barter or cleaning. Buy solar lights and cameras incase of electric shortage, a solar charger of some description, ham radio, walkie talkies, a machette, crossbow, a supressor for your rifle, NBC suit and mask etc with fullers earth cat litter and a geiger counter should anything go that way. (China is pushing for war). Night vision, easy to make with an old night mode camera and an infra red torch on your gun, im a gamekeeper in the UK and that is how i shoot vermin. Buy a 22lr, you can carry more rounds and with subsonic ammunition wont have a loud report (hang up your dead vermin on a gibbet line when you need to feed your chickens and let the maggots drop out for your chickens to eat.. Screws and nails, old hand tools, veg seeds, mashed potato, pasta, beans, tins, surgical spirit, vinegar, alcohol to trade, grow weed to trade and for certain health issues such as glucoma, the list is endless, but these are some of the things i have been doing. Hope something there helps someone.

There are no peripheral purchases needed which makes it sustainable which is a true prep item in my opinion. I live near the beach and i know i can desalinate that water if desperate. Try making the applejack moonshine, i lost a few hours after i sampled it. It isn't very legal in the UK and the distiller came from China marked as a chinese cooking pot LOL.
To your very good list I would certainly add Vitamins & Minerals. Supplements will come in handy when we're all living on a slow-starvation diet. . Also... a copy of THE HOLY BIBLE. It will provide hope and the greatest Wisdom in the world, until He returns to save His own.
But a few medium size bottles of dishwashing detergent. Last year there were times that I could only buy the brand and bottle size of what the store had on the shelf. Buy a few bottles of what you like the most.
If you stock items with intent to barter, you're not really properly stocked up. Do you really want to barter and reveal you have surplus stash to barter? Just makes you a target.
Went to Biltmore in NC last week on vacation. My son went to pay for souvenirs. with cash and they would not take it. If it would have been me, I would not have purchased the stuff.
Pro tip. Never barter ammo to a person who has none. Why u might ask. Bcuz the odds are if they wanted to kill u and take ur shit they would have already done. But a person with no ammo might be waiting for a force multiplier. Aka ammo.

My suggestion would be to stock all items equally so that none are expended before others and to follow the rule of 3s and then Maslow's hierarchy of needs to determine stock amounts.
Be careful stockpiling too many batteries as they do have a shelf life. Might pay to keep minimum stock & have it on yr last minute shopping list to grab as everything is going to shit.
Yes, but if everyone practiced Intermittent fasting, that would not be true. Try eating less. ... and less meals per day. People panic over missing a meal. Try missing a day full of meals and see how much healthier you are. We, the people, eat too much!
@@caroletta451 I agree with this as well. My longest fast so far has been 4 days. After the first 36hrs it get surprisingly easy, and I felt so much better. Inflamation and gut issues completely disappear.

I buy green beans online, they last forever, I think. Coffee goes stale after being roasted. I roast them with a popcorn popper. Frying pan works too.

Don't forget your Jiffy Pop Pop Corn. I like Jiffy pop because even if the power is out you can make it on your gas stove or even your camping stove.

@@EverydayReady it would not save money if they wouldn’t trade for it for fear of it being contaminated or poisoned. Just sayin. A .99 mini bottle is a cheap barter item if SHTF. Buy $10 worth every now and then, and you are set. Plus you can guarantee their purity as they have not been opened. I agree with you that it is a valuable item, and have a shoebox full of them. You can neatly fit 50-60 in a shoebox.

@Sharon Bice sounds good. I sometimes do Turkish style and just pour boiling water into a cup with a big scoop of coffee grounds - and stir it up. Most eventually settles to bottom. Makes a strong cup. Instant coffee is longer lasting though and easier more efficient. Compared to No coffee instant is a Godsend.

Good advice but what good is canning if you can’t get lids like right now and the grid isn’t even down yet. I refuse to buy the made in China lids as they are not of good quality. I’ve used them and had way to many failures with them. Love the idea of a freeze dryer but they are expensive.

I stocked up on batteries on Amazon, it was cheaper than Wal-Mart. I got extra cr123 batteries and cr2032 batteries. They're used for high powered flashlights, lasers, and reddots. Gota be gun ready always, with plenty of spares for friends

I would add to the list, lighters, yeast and sugar, buy a distiller as that can remove radioactivity, dirt and impurities whilst also making alcohol for barter or cleaning. Buy solar lights and cameras incase of electric shortage, a solar charger of some description, ham radio, walkie talkies, a machette, crossbow, a supressor for your rifle, NBC suit and mask etc with fullers earth cat litter and a geiger counter should anything go that way. (China is pushing for war). Night vision, easy to make with an old night mode camera and an infra red torch on your gun, im a gamekeeper in the UK and that is how i shoot vermin. Buy a 22lr, you can carry more rounds and with subsonic ammunition wont have a loud report (hang up your dead vermin on a gibbet line when you need to feed your chickens and let the maggots drop out for your chickens to eat.. Screws and nails, old hand tools, veg seeds, mashed potato, pasta, beans, tins, surgical spirit, vinegar, alcohol to trade, grow weed to trade and for certain health issues such as glucoma, the list is endless, but these are some of the things i have been doing. Hope something there helps someone.

There are no peripheral purchases needed which makes it sustainable which is a true prep item in my opinion. I live near the beach and i know i can desalinate that water if desperate. Try making the applejack moonshine, i lost a few hours after i sampled it. It isn't very legal in the UK and the distiller came from China marked as a chinese cooking pot LOL.

Pro tip. Never barter ammo to a person who has none. Why u might ask. Bcuz the odds are if they wanted to kill u and take ur shit they would have already done. But a person with no ammo might be waiting for a force multiplier. Aka ammo.

My suggestion would be to stock all items equally so that none are expended before others and to follow the rule of 3s and then Maslow's hierarchy of needs to determine stock amounts.

@@caroletta451 I agree with this as well. My longest fast so far has been 4 days. After the first 36hrs it get surprisingly easy, and I felt so much better. Inflamation and gut issues completely disappear.
