WINTER WRASSE FISHING | TEXAS RIGGING | LURE FISHING FOR WRASSE

- It had been quite a while since I'd been out to target some wrasse on lures, so one afternoon after work I headed to a mark to see if I could find a few. I'd be using simple tactics which involved an easy to tie Texas Rig and a light spinning rod.
The first spot didn’t produce so I made the short drive down the road to the next mark where I had a little more luck. I'd continue the session into the next day before it came to an abrupt end by an inquisitive seal!

Ur a lucky man cal. You have great fishing ground all around. The bass fishing is just amazing and there's good wrasse about too. I was wondering what the beach fishing at night was like ? I was in Guernsey when i was just 17 yrs old. " I'am now almost in my mid 50s now with a lot of health issues due to accidents. I would love to go back and fish all around Guernsey. " but that's just a pipe dream for me now. Any keep up with the great vids as its the closest I will ever get to visit Guernsey. I thoroughly enjoy watching them. Tight lines cal.
Hi mate. The beach fishing at night can be great yeah. At certain times of the year you can get some good bass and gilthead bream from the beaches. If you ever do get a chance to visit again then definitely bring a rod with you. Thanks for checking out the videos, I'm glad you’re enjoying them! 👍🏼

Nice one Cal👍enjoyed that!..looking forward to targeting a few wrasse this season..would 3/0 hooks be a little big to use?..have some for bass but maybe need to go smaller?
Hi mate, 3/0 hooks will be a little big yeah. The bigger wrasse will still nail them but you'll find it hard to hook the smaller ones. I've had 5lb wrasse inhale a 5/0 hook before but it would be hard work hooking the smaller ones on hooks that size.

Hey Cal! How do those Wrasse stack up 'eating wise'?
Tbh I've only tried it once before and that was a long time ago. I can’t really remember how it tasted. A lot of the wrasse caught in the Uk is shipped to places like Asia where it's used for sushi. Be nice to try it that way some day.

I don’t keep them for eating no, you can do though. My opinion is there are nicer fish to catch and keep for eating over wrasse.
