Thank you some people don’t get this and make claims to run the other in the ground they excel in different areas and people jus need to watch the comparisons for a fun experience and let the beef rest
*I'm not sure these games are comparable.* Ghost of Tsushima is basically Assassins Creed Japan meets Infamous Second Son, whereas Rise of the Ronin is 'open-world Nioh2.' Both games made by two very different devs with very different histories and budgets. Just because two games are set in Japan doesn't mean its fair to compare them.
You can compare them. No ones saying there are no differences. But you can compare them I love both btw. They are really different to me, but it is possible to do a comparison
Didn't realize this was something that was even up for debate.... Ghost, 100% ghost. I'm not even talking about the graphic differences or how they did the open world although ghost is Superior in those cases as well. The combat in ghosts felt so smooth and fantastic. The Parry system was unique and beautiful. It felt like minimalism in a game at close to its finest. I am a huge team ninja fan as well but Ronin can't touch how great that game was. And then there was even added the free Legends mode with fhost, raids and all. Simply sublime. Hope they make a ghost 2 before long.
Rise had better combat Ghost's wasn't as deep in comparison, but everything else Ghost demolished it. I'm definitely going to jump back into Ghost of Tsushima again when it's released on pc finally so I could enjoy it again with some pc perks
@@hinglemccringleberry1255 I mean as the other person said, its minimalist. It uses its zen world to contrast it against samurai "honorable" combat, and assasins creed brutal gore tactics. Not gonna be for everyone ofc, but something isn't "boring" because its going for a specific muted tone, and nails it. Your waypoint marker is the freaking wind that you trigger by brushing your controller lol, like if that isnt a stylistic choice that represents this game idk what is
I loved Ghost but one thing I can say about Rise of the Ronin is that it's just a pure video game. Looks take a back seat (though they're certainly not "bad" like some people are saying) for the arcadey, batshit action. I've had the game for a week and I've already put in about 50 hours, I can't put the game down. I love Ghost's romanticized setting and flowy combat, and I love Rise's nonstop, balls to the wall action.
Ghosts has insane animations, graphics, voice actors, and story. I couldn’t disagree with people more on the combat debate though. Ronin is in a category by itself. Only Nioh 2 is in this category. Most people won’t learn how to play Ronin, getting good at violent Gale and flash attack cancels is no easy feat, but it’s so fucking satisfying to be good at Ronin. Ghosts is more like Sophisticated Batman Arkham combat. Ronin is balls to the wall Nioh fused with Sekiro. Some crazy ass ninja Gaiden combos. Nothing on earth like Ronin with its combat.
i cant stand ghosts story, It feels so condescending. "what about honor"? An entire country engulfed with war and famine.....This warrior class is getting chopped down as if they've never understood anything about war tactics.
@@locdogg86 They were different and stubborn, they literally live and die by the code. Jin was the "anomaly" that truly made a difference and chose Tsushima over the code
@@locdogg86ok but the mongols also weren’t single handedly defeated by a rouge samurai that is essentially the physical manifestation of nature either……why is that plot point fine for you but suckerpunch taking some creative liberty with the actual attitudes of samurai crosses a line as far as your concerned?? Sounds like cherry picking hypocritical nonsense my friend ngl……..
@@mookiestewart3776 stop....not the same topic. Now you're saying if it's fantasy then i have to be fine with anything thats presented.(Nice try) but as it turns out, it's much easier to do some research on feudal japan, maybe hire more japanese writers etc. Then to turn the game into a 4x game.
I feel as if people are expecting too much out of graphics and not enough out of the story. Not that ghost has a terrible story but just overall in the gaming industry.
Your argument boils down to some very basic aspects >Muh graphics >Muh story You sound like a child by putting graphics before gameplay RotR gameplay is 100x more in depth and varied than GoT's I think both are good games and both are not comparable as they dont try to do the same thing, g.o.t literally has 1 weapon, and you want to compare this to a real rpg with 9 weapons? use your head
2:06 I wouldn't agree that graphics is everything, as all FromSoftware games have proven the opposite. Good or bad graphics are important only in cases where the content is already average.
Ultimately, graphics shouldn’t matter. But I’d be ignorant to let it go completely. It ALL revolves around the games you’ve grown up with/grown out of, games that are around you, etc.. You cant blame someone who was born in 2012 playing video games in 2024 being upset that a game doesn’t look like Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s a completely valid complaint, given their circumstances. I think a healthy way to approach this topic is with a game’s Art Direction. Graphics being “bad” should ONLY be a result of mediocre Art Direction. You bring up one of the best examples of recent memory: Fromsoftware. They do not have the best graphics, but you can be DAMN SURE the Art Direction makes up for its lack of fidelity. From the Dark medieval character designs and world design of Dark Souls; very edgy and unsettling vibe to Bloodborne; or how Sekiro seems to be one of the only Japanese Sengoku games that actually utilise the country’s mythical stories to provide a visually pleasing experience; to the unique approach to high fantasy they took with Elden Ring, with its visual aesthetics being an amalgamation of many real life cultural myths and cultures, creating some very engrossing visuals from an art design perspective… they never miss with visuals. No matter the graphical fidelity. If a game isn’t visually interesting (art direction OR graphics), it can destroy an experience. Many developers lack focus. ROTR has unprovocative visuals. Sure, it does lack a fantasy setting so it should make sense why visuals are uninteresting, right? Well Ghost of Tsushima specifically is set within real world law of fiction, while still offering up some pretty remarkable art direction inspired directly from real life Japanese locations. That’s focus, right there. Focus is what some designers need, I feel. I also use Fromsoft as an example because Miyazaki, in plenty interviews, talks about this focus. He reinforces that his designs MUST be fucked up and terrible, while maintaining a level of elegance or beauty in some way shape or form. For every game he does, this is the main sentiment with the design team. It’s a focus. One instruction, 7 games. But I speak as a consumer. Ultimately, I have no idea what goes into development. Just that my ignorant ass is never satisfied😂
@@HeevaEgo Yes, on some degree, graphics will matter but I wouldn't take a 12 yo kid as an example since that person is not eligible to play FromSoft games yet (due to age). I mean, we already have Sekiro and Elden Ring as game of the year winners, and they are considered mediocre in the graphics department. Sekiro is even a more extreme example, as besides mediocre graphics I'd assume it also has a smaller target group due to its extreme difficulty that is definitely not for everyone. And yet, they are on top. On the other side, Red Dead Redemption 2 was surely praised for its excellent graphics but nowadays its graphics do not look that unreal anymore. However, it is still discussed on the gaming community because of its content (e.g. people still discover new things in its world). It's still an iconic game and not anymore for its graphics. I'd argue that the bottom-line here is that people care more about graphics when the content / gameplay is not top notch to begin with. Or I might be wrong. In any case, though, I don't think that the example with the chef's food given in the video is applicable when it comes to gaming. The mechanisms at work are totally different.
@@perperikis5501Wait up elden ring and sekiro have mediocre graphics? Wtf are you smoking? They have amazing graphics with amazing art design, stop the bs cap about "graphics don't matter" just to look like an OG pro gamer, graphics have always mattered, art design has always mattered, not making it a main focus is completely bullshit, and gladly serious studios don't listen to your opinion, this is 2025, bad graphics are inexcusable
@@khaleddriouch4758 Calm down kiddo. Great art design is not great graphics. And no, elden ring does not have "great" graphics, or go have your eyes checked. You want to see great graphics ? Check red dead redemption 2 or ghost of tsushima if you're not sure what "great graphics" mean.
Rise of the ronin is fun af. People honestly need to stop caring about graphics. Graphics should always come last. And the graphics in this game are nowhere near bad at all.
People give too much credit to graphics. Most people comparing them haven't even played Ronin, its so bizzare. Ghost is a beautiful game but as soon as you realize you can spam the block parry, the combat becomes repetitive and not challenging. You can literally walk into the center of a camp with zero worries. Rise uas better combat, slightly more interesting open world and harder challenges. Go read the reviews, they ass just complain about the graphics.
I get what you're saying and might even give RotR a chance because of it. But, you know you could always NOT parry spam and make Ghost more challenging. 😉
What a ridiculous video, you cant compare these two games. They arent the same genre, they dont aim to achieve the same thing, the differences in systems is vast. RotR is for people who like RPGs with tons of stuff to do tons of weapons to play with, tons of gear to use, etc. GoT is for people who want a good story, where you use only 1 weapon the whole game. Its ridiculous that you started by saying the games arent really comparable but then ended the video saying GoT is the better game, like contradictory much? gtfo.
"If your graphics are subpar..." This is why graphics are the focus of the "industry" rather than showing off gameplay features and innovative mechanics. In fact, features and mechanics suffer but it looks pretty so who cares, right... RIGHT?
@@YaBoiShiningwhen the game asks me to choose between fidelity or performance I always say “why can’t I have both?” I’m still waiting for my PS5 to surpass the PS4 in the way that the SNES was to the NES.
I could care less about gameplay as long as the story is good and the graphics are beautiful then thats all that matters, I'm not playing an ugly game.
I love both. I really loved rise of the ronin But ghost is supreme. Combat has less variety but it’s smoother, heavier, you can feel it And I like the open world of Ghost more, not gonna lie. Especially with the addition of Iki island
Ghost is lazy repetitive 5 weapon types EASY combat that takes little skill with 1 weapon. Ronin has a plethora of not only weapons but enemies. Stop the disingenuous nonsense at the mindless trashing of ronin lol
@@spiritualsoul2711 I’m not trashing at ronin. You’re the one trashing at ghost lol Despite having less weapons, it did what it proposes perfectly, so that’s to be appraised. I like it more than I like ronin, and ronin is my second favorite game of this year
I had fun with Rise of the Ronin, I even got the platinum but the open world does let it down much like most newer games. I feel like open worlds are holding a lot of games back from focusing on and improving more important things. I don't think ALL games are held back by their open worlds, for example, Elden Ring and Red Dead Redemption 2 both managed to make fun open worlds while also making time to flesh out other things. My problem is that the majority of open worlds tend to be bland and repetitive, too many open world games fail to make good use of the concept and it's a shame. I think if Ronin was more linear and focused, it could've been a lot better. The combat is brilliant, a lot of the characters are interesting, fun and have a lot of heart poured into their personalities and dialogue but I believe if it wasn't for the open world, these things would've been even better. Overall, I had a better time with Ghost of Tsushima but I still really enjoyed Rise of the Ronin a lot, it just failed in more areas than Ghost of Tsushima did, in my opinion.
Rockstars been doing it for so long, i think they're the exception. I think elden ring would have been better if it was a little smaller. A lot of those dungeons were pointless, too many bosses were reused with different skins.
@@locdogg86 Yeah the reused bosses with different skins was really lame but overall I did have a good time exploring ER which isn't the case at all with most newer open world games.
@@KingSilverGhost yea its still a great game. I hope they don't feel obligated to make their next rpg open world, or if they do, i hope they don't have much filler.
@Red9Suplex I agree it's tough to make a great open world. Kingdom Come, RDR2, Fallout3, Skyrim, GTA San, BOTW, Morrowind, GTA5, New vegas and Witcher 3 are some of best open worlds i have played. Kingdom come 2 and GTA6 are only open worlds I care about.
RDR2 was ungodly boring. A whole world filled with nothing and on rails quests, terrible. I gave it an honest go but it's gameplay is just so outdated and everything goes just so sloooow. Like no I don't care about your 20min monologue whilst I ride a horse only to fail the mission because I got distracted on the way and tried to kill a bear, then a timer clocked me out (during a goddamn horseback ride) only to then have to start back to the beginning and go through the entire 20min monologue again. Tedious af. I uninstalled it after a week or so trying to like it. Overrated game.
Rise of the Ronin is also very accessible for a Team Ninja game. You don't really have to "get gud" on normal difficulty and there is also an easy difficulty. There are also some fun weapons that are pretty OP, including a flamethrower. Not to mention, it has coop! If you were always turned off by the high difficulty of Ninja Gaiden or Nioh, but wanted to fully experience a Team Ninja game, this is it.
Rise of ronin is the more fun game to be honest. I 100% ghost and it was a drag at some points. It’s good but rise of ronin combat was so much more fun and the fashion etc
@@SuperBloodborneMaker2 Outside of the combat, looking for loot, taking photos, and looking for cats to pet definitely pales in comparison to the things you can do in GoT.
I thought Ghost was pretty but shallow. It became incredibly boring after the first 10 camps. Sound and graphics/atmosphere was fantastic, but ROR's combat just keeps the entire game afloat.
Easy one. Rise of the ronin. Create your own character Samurai fantasy. Was epic. So many weapon and stance combos its insane. Fashion in ronin helped too.
Rise of the Ronin is actually a Japanese game made by Japanese though whereas Ghost of Tsushima is kind of orientalism, playing it it's throwing me off with all kinds of cultural and language inaccuracies (eg names that basically dont exist in Japanese) that are so obviously concocted by western writers, using Japanese sounding phonetics but having no actual meaning lol it's kind of off-putting at times tbh
@@cacaulaymulkin7724that doesn't make it bad. Who said it had to be accurate to be good. Your opinions are crazy. Both nioh and rotr are also inaccurate. So what is your point of mentioning accuracy??
@@Never_GamePlayZ You didn't play it or you are just judging the graphics. It's in no way horrendous. Even if it's not your type of game the weapon and fighting style variety and challenging fights would warrant at least a decent if not good
@@nunchuksteev9811 yes I have and I'm only judging the graphics. The game itself is pretty good. the character customization is nice, and the combat is good too. But the graphics is horrendous I swear. It's enjoyable but not worth 70 dollars.
i played both but i found got to be kinda basic and more barebones in comparison to rise of the ronin, theres just alot more to sink your teeth into in rise, got is good for 1 playthrough, but it gets repetitive fast, rise stays so good the whole game
rise of the ronin has sdome fair criticism against it. but all in all is a fantastic experience. combat is fun and there are plenty of weapons. although i do wish "builds" were more present like in nioh. ghost is a masterpiece and cannot be compared to in the samurai open world game sphere. with that said i really hope rise of the ronin comes to PC soon as well. and here's to hoping we get a more fleshed out sequel in the coming years with a nicer open world
Rise of the Ronin is my game of the last years. I haven't had such a good time for soooo long. I seriously don't care for the graphics, which tbh at some points I really enjoy. The gameplay is F A N T A S T I C, and I can't seem to get enough of it. The depth, the combat, the exploration, the loot, the story and the overall love in this game make it miles better than GoT (which I loved at the time, but it ended up being boring). As someone said. GoT is a game about Japan made by westerners, Ronin is a game about Japan by Japanese.
Honestly I’ve really been enjoying ronin, only about 10 hours in though. It’s really not hard to look past the graphics (which aren’t as bad as people say imo). Combat is very addictive too what’s you get good at it
idk if the graphics are even that bad in rise alot of the fabric and hair physics are amazing and it just feels like an open world samurai showdown i played rise and its fine but i thing rise has alot more to offer in player expression
GoT is very easy game! I played on hard mode amd I didn't defeat on bosses! RotR combat are awesome and bosses are very challenging so I choose RotR. Combat > Graphics!
@@BeastMode-r7x is not just about graphics lol the story imo is better in GOT. I enjoyed the combat more too, more fluid. I also like the character development better in GOT. To each their own though.
I think what you got totally wrong is the fact that most people compared it to Nioh 2! Not ghost! Bcs it’s huge downgrade from nioh 2 combat and this is where the disappointment come from… cs people talked about ghost only bcs of the graphic of the game.
I'm playing rise of the ronin at the moment and I'm loving it. I'm 27 hours in and just did my 1st faction quest. It's a great game. Still I admit I'm keeping ghost for best, playing that after I finish rise.
I wouldn’t compare them really… That being said, Rise is my game of the year thus far… Team Ninja created something unique here (even compared to their own) if you invest enough time and attention to it…
I suppose Ghost is overall a better game (w much better graphics), BUT I gotta be honest: I'm having way more fun with Rise of the Ronin, and I like the story and characters a bit more as well (especially the political intrigue, factions, bond/ronin missions, historical events/characters). I also find the Bakumatsu period more interesting as a setting.
I must be crazy, because I tried playing Ghost of Tsushima and ended up deleting it after like 15ish hours or so. It just didn't click with me and I thought the open world was very boring and ubisoft like. The story didn't grab my attention either. I dunno.
It happens. Not all players fall for a certain game. I uninstalled Evil West, Death Stranding, Witcher, Returnal, and a few just after a few minutes of playing.
TBF, the ubisoft side questing / levelling up does feel outdated and not enjoyable for me. Annoying cause they did put alot of effort in the cinematography and story.
@@Gurenn83 More difficult combat, doesn't mean better combat. If you want additional difficulty, try playing the game with your feet. It will be hard af 😂😂
Ofc brainwashed will vote for Tsushima, most of them not even play RotR. Ronin is objectively superior game in most key aspects and can provide more smooth, fun and challenging experience for 100+ hours of playtime. Something unreachable for Tsushima. Addictive combat, tons of stances to unlock and you already have a lot at the beginning, never tedious because smooth fast traversal and combat which just drives you to destroy everything around.
I bought both. I started 'Ghosts.' About 40 minutes of actual gameplay. The comments are leading me to Ronin. This kinda what I was thinking. I finish 'Wo Long.' I at DS3 'hand boss,' in 'Nioh 2,' first play through. I gonna go with Team Ninja. Thx for advice. Great clip.
Definitely rise of the ronin, i dont even like ghost of tsushima, actually ive never liked any of the games from sucker punch, but i didnt even like team ninja till they released nioh 1 in 2017, but now we have 5 incredible team ninja games with nioh 1&2, stranger of paradise, wo long and now rise of the ronin, but the biggest problem i had with GoT was the progression just felt shallow and unfulfilling, the amount of build variety in RotR puts anything from GoT to shame, i dont wanna play a movie game like GoT, i wanna play an actual video game like RotR, these sony movie games always suffer from a lack of gameplay focus because they are chasing this trend of high end graphics with unsustainable budgets, delays and day one patches, another issue with GoT was the lack of combat variety with one melee weapon and one ranged weapon for the entire game, it just got repetitive fast, while you could play through RotR 10 times with 10 completely different builds that each feel completely unique from the last, each with their own unique weapons, abilities, skills and armor set, GoT is the perfect example of a game thats as wide as an ocean but has the depth of a puddle, the combat just felt so much better in RotR, GoT was kinda clunky and janky by comparison
Ghost is not a realistic game, but I love that the combat and overall gameplay feels more grounded. It looks like a Samurai Movie. Its not about graphics, its about design. Voice acting, characters and story are peak. Ghost just 100% fits my style. I want to like Rise, but its just too much AC in it.
Surprisingly when the twenty twenties started we saw a massive uptick in samurai games and rise of the ronin I completely forgot about i just started playing the demo and now I’m in love with it I gotta make it my next game now
I think Ghost is overall the better game due to the story, graphics, and combat. But Ronin is still a great game! Maybe the devs will really take their game up a notch after this one
Ghost story is so mediocre though. It reminds me of things like mortal kombat and 90s american movies about ninjas and stuff where they say things like "chinese karate" and "kung fu ninjas". The writers seemed to have no idea about feudal japan. It was so patronizing to watch the samurai Absolutely flabergasted that the mongols would use such "dishonorable" tactics during THE INVASION OF A COUNTRY.
So to put it short: Ghost of Tsushima went for the more realistic approach while Rise of the Ronnin went for the imagination approach (how we imagine weapon fights)
I think the reason they’re compared is because people just wanted a ghost of Tsushima 2 after finishing the first one. Well they won’t have to wait much longer now
Stepping outside of the Ghosts main story is an embarrassment in open world game design, whereas Ronin stepping outside the main story is phenomenal with endless activities and reason to explore. But the story Ghosts made a masterpiece story while Ronin's story was so mid, and not that interesting.
Simply put…. Ghost = beautiful graphics fun and easy. Ronin = passable graphics fun and hard. If it comes down to just gameplay, ronin is much more tuned to an advanced level of competency. I prefer its gameplay.
No matter how good the gameplay of Rise of the Ronin is, I just don't want to look at such an ugly game. It's a complete immersion killer for me. Of course good gameplay is always a hard requirement, but I want to have good presentation at the same time. So sadly, Rise of the Ronin was a skip for me, and I don't see that changing. Gonna play Tsushima on PC today. :D I already finished it on PS5, but I love that game and the PC version will be even better.
Ghost of tsushima has ugly gameplay with 5 enemy types and 1 weapon 😬 With 5-6 years of dev time That's like an enemy a year. One and done game unlike rise of the ronin
@@spiritualsoul2711 There are at least 4 weapons; Katana, Dagger, Long Range Bow and Mid Range Bow. Also there are 4 stances with different move sets, which you have to match to the enemies. There are also enemy types that can mix between 2 or more types/stances themselves, requiring you to switch gear also. You also have different types of assassinations, attacks from the air, attack from horse, etc. I think it provides a decent challenge and variety, but I do recommend playing on Lethal difficulty, if you can get through the start of the game like that while you unlock gear, stances and skills.
Really enjoyed Ronin. If Team Ninja can just learn to focus their efforts on what they're good at instead of layering extraneous gameplay systems, they'll take a big step in quality to truly must-play titles.
Rise of the ronin is in my opinion, is so much better than ghost of Tsushima. The combat is slick and really addictive. So although g.o.t. Looks better, something about it just bores me. Obviously most people are going to choose ghost over rise of the ronin but for me, how much fun it is moment to moment is much more important than aesthetics. And I don’t think ror looks bad at all either. It’s a shame they released it the same day as dragons dogma 2 because it flew under the radar big time. I can’t wait for dlc to start dropping and hoping for pvp like the first nioh game. ( as well the dozens of unique move sets, weapons, secret move sets, dodges and enemy variety are staggering)
My main gripe with Ghost of Tsushima is that after you progress the story to the last island you suffer a number of setbacks, one of which is a spoiler, so I'll just say the last island is "ugly" in comparison with the stunning environment of the previous area. This dreary zone, while fitting with the story, is made even worse by the increased number of storms and rainy overcast weather that becomes another combatant as you play the flute all the time to bring out the sunshine. If I replay the game, I would probably just load up a backup, do NG+ and then just stop once I got to a certain part in the story and put the game away.
Not even a comparison. Ghost was a masterpiece, it’s more immersive, it’s better written, it performs better, it looks better, better combat. It has better more realistic NPC’s, in rise in like every town the npcs say like one or lines repeatedly where as in ghost they actually have conversations. I’m not saying Rise is not amazing, it’s a fire game but there is no comparison as to which is the better product.
Why do people even waste their time comparing these two games. There is no similarity between these two other than Japanese from the same era. Toxic gamers just like to gaslight people into believing they’re buying something they have already seen and played, or worst. smh 🤦🏻♂️
I played ronin all the way through first after immediately giving up on Tsushima years before when the game made me follow the wind like Pocahontas😂 but after revisiting it it’s better bruh. I like how ppl cheer and be like “ITS LORD SAKAI” “ OH SHIT THATS THE GHOST” shit is legendary 😂😂
I went to GameStop to pick up GoT Directors Cut, and ended up getting Rise of the Ronin on a whim. I knew basically nothing about the game. Long story short, I returned Ghost of Tsushima to keep Rise of the Ronin. Ghost of Tsushima's presentation is some of the best in its genre, but it feels empty beyond that. Rise of the Ronin does lack in the graphical fidelity, but the game is by no means ugly, and other things like art style bridge that gap somewhat. Rise of the Ronin's gameplay is what got me hooked, and is what kept me interested. Gameplay that an interactable movie like GoT doesn't have. I got bored after about 3 hours in GoT, and I'm not going to say GoT is a bad game, but it definitely wasn't for me at the time. Maybe when i'm in the mood for a more cinematic experience ill go pick it back up, but RotR is the better game imo. There's actually way more to do in that game.
how common is the opinion that GoT is a masterpiece? it did some cool things with art direction and HUD/UI, but the plot, characters, and gameplay were all pretty forgettable. Its like a 7-8/10 for most people isnt it? Never heard this masterpiece talk. Like, it was fine.
GoT a masterpiece? Have to disagree there. It falls into the same boat as the other high budget third person Sony exclusives (GoW, Uncharted, TLOU, Spiderman). Pretty graphics and 'story', but in terms of gameplay, art style, world design they provide zero inspiration. Very much like what Marvel is to the movie scene.
Your tripping I won’t argue wether it is or isn’t a master piece as that’s subjective and there is a future full of games to come but I will say it’s def inspired they legit have a Kurosawa mode your absolutely bugging watch lone wolf and the cub I run the ronin fit bc of that movie alone
This isn't even close. I just bought Rise of the Ronan because it's on sale. This shouldn't even be a debate. Ghost of Tsushima is miles better in every aspect
Ghost of Tsushima took just 2 nights to complete first play. Rise of the Ronin 8 days. Both are great games, but I am not bored because Rise of the Ronin gives many story line endings.
I haven’t even played rise of the ronin yet, but looking at gameplay clips, I’m going to say that it’s better, gameplay in ghosts is so fucking boring, they went for the more cinematic approach instead of being a fun fucking game
The only reason why graphics sell is because gaming is full of casusls who care more about things that dont actually matter like graphics and fidelity, i think games like vampire survivors proved that graphics dont matter and that art style is far more important, elden ring had mid graphics but the art style was so incredible that it fooled most gamers into thinking that the graphics were high end because these casuals dont really know the difference, graphics have more to do with fidelity and textures and 90% of what you actually see on screen is the art style
GOT game was much more immersive as the feel of playing a Samurai. ROR your playing a create a character type RPG. So in essence depending on you love of style of gameplay. I
Ghost of Tsushima's combat was like based in real life physics of how to be a real life better Samurai warrior. like how Samurai warrior supposed to fight in real life, they study every moves and every steps of how a samurai sword affects human body in contact in lethal situations, people find the combat was slow compared to other similar genre, but it really didn't, that's how accurately a trained peak human can move, not like been animated with flashy and fast faced moves but unrealistic like they are super humans. people just been used on a fast faced action game or movies with flashy and animated moves. I hope GoT will keep the realistic way in case there's GoT 2 sequel was coming, that's why the game was especial and what separate it to it's kind of genre, hoped it won't change. Unlike Rise of the Ronin, combat was fast faced like they move unrealistically and feels like they not ordinary human, movement was so fast and super human like and feels animated, but the combat was exciting, just being almost the same like the kind of other games of it's genre, the game was overall good, just not the type of game that would separate itself to others and make a trademark in gaming history to be a different one. Both games was fantastic, they have different specialty that one have and the other don't, depends on the gamers which their prefer and like the most in terms of what type of games they really like, why not liking both.
Yeah, no. That’s what people say who have forgotten how ps3 games looked 16 years ago. Koei Tecmo and many japanese developers never have been up to date when it comes to 3D geaphics. They lack the budget and the know how. This game is comparable to ps4 era with a few differences here and there. Saying a game looks like ps3 or ps2 even is nothing more than trolling or stupidity.
@Lock2002ful Thanks for the reply... yeah I didn't believe it looked like PS3😂 and PS4 graphics were amazing on some games. Red Dead redemption 2 Top notch
To all that consider tsushima the "all ronin wanted to be, but failed" remeber this: they are completely different title, where one focus on cinematic and visual sile, and in that regard tsushima is leagues over many games, and the other focuson combat. I played both, and gotta say, the combat in tsushima bored me like hell, wile thrived in ronin, things like parry over parry to respond with a technique etcetera, it keeps you high on octanes, instead of tsushima duels where you just push a button on timing. Also, before butchering ronin, consider who did it: team ninja never did a game this big before, specializing in games organized in main hub and little maps fore every stage. As first open world, altough it reminds sometimes an assas creed, all in all is a good result
On the Importance of Grahics in Gaming: This is the brainrot of modern gaming. It's one of the reasons we always get bad games from mainstream publishers, because good graphics don't make the game good or fun to play. Gameplay should always come first and then we can talk about graphics... And if you want something pretty to look at go watch a movie or look at a painting.
I geinuinly do not see Ronin's graphics as bad. It just feels like the art style is not there. They just tried to go for full realistic view, which is bland... Also a lot of the animations feel kinda choppy. However I can't say anything about the gameplay, because the damn thing is not available on PC... Ghost of Tsushima feels like Red dead redemption 2 in Japan. It has simple combat, but the game feels amazing to play, if you enjoy the setting
I think we're not giving Ghosts it's just do. It moved the bar in terms of open world game design with the wind system for navigation, foxes leading you to POI, etc... Underneath all the polished graphics and animation was a game worthy of being included in the game of the generation conversation.
Lets be real, people want to see these comparisons. The games have the same setting and essentially the same genre. You play as a samurai in both. These games are absolutely comparable no matter if its different in its core. Its natural for gamers to wanna compare rise of ronin to ghost tsushima
I don’t think their graphics are disappointing at all. It’s not pushing the limits obviously but I don’t think everyone needs to do lifelike graphics. Just weird to pretend they need to be. The graphics aren’t bad at all, they just aren’t stellar. The rest of the game looks fun and that’s all that ultimately matters.
I think there is more in play here than just 'graphics' that led to the supremacy of Ghost of Tsushima. Just looking at the two games, in one I am seeing the usual over-the-top anime style. In the other, I am seeing a very grounded and serious real-world style. And that seems to follow through all aspects of the game. I mean really, flying a kite through 'rings'? What is this World of Warcraft? Rise of the Ronin is a hard pass from me, and not because of the graphics; it is because of the game design itself.
sushima definately more polished and surprises players, people says ronin has better gameplay forgotten that we've played already 3 nioh style combat game from TN and it's been at least 200h in total yet this is even a mediocre one, how much would you rate dark souls2 if it came out in 2024 and calls itself DS4?

Incomparable. The similarities are superficial, and everything under the hood is geared towards different experiences. Play both. Both are great.
Exactly
W comment
Incomparable my ass lmao
Thank you some people don’t get this and make claims to run the other in the ground they excel in different areas and people jus need to watch the comparisons for a fun experience and let the beef rest
Shut up
*I'm not sure these games are comparable.* Ghost of Tsushima is basically Assassins Creed Japan meets Infamous Second Son, whereas Rise of the Ronin is 'open-world Nioh2.' Both games made by two very different devs with very different histories and budgets.
Just because two games are set in Japan doesn't mean its fair to compare them.
yes yes this.
exactly
You can compare them. No ones saying there are no differences. But you can compare them
I love both btw. They are really different to me, but it is possible to do a comparison
@@Norightnowrong1 You can also technically 'compare' a brick to a puppy but thats not really the point, now is it?
Ghost also has a fantastic multiplayer component, though I don't know if it still has much of an active community.
The parry system was unique? How?
Ghost is not as boring than other open world games but boring nonetheless
@@hinglemccringleberry1255 I mean as the other person said, its minimalist. It uses its zen world to contrast it against samurai "honorable" combat, and assasins creed brutal gore tactics. Not gonna be for everyone ofc, but something isn't "boring" because its going for a specific muted tone, and nails it. Your waypoint marker is the freaking wind that you trigger by brushing your controller lol, like if that isnt a stylistic choice that represents this game idk what is
@@PantsaBear it's just a Ubisoft open world who does a little bit more than the bare minimum. It's sad that people consider this a masterpiece.
Worst graphics ive seen on a ps5 game since launch
A better art direction would've helped. Good game, but I don't like the washed out art style.

I feel as if people are expecting too much out of graphics and not enough out of the story. Not that ghost has a terrible story but just overall in the gaming industry.
Your argument boils down to some very basic aspects
>Muh graphics
>Muh story
You sound like a child by putting graphics before gameplay
RotR gameplay is 100x more in depth and varied than GoT's
I think both are good games and both are not comparable as they dont try to do the same thing, g.o.t literally has 1 weapon, and you want to compare this to a real rpg with 9 weapons? use your head
From the Dark medieval character designs and world design of Dark Souls; very edgy and unsettling vibe to Bloodborne; or how Sekiro seems to be one of the only Japanese Sengoku games that actually utilise the country’s mythical stories to provide a visually pleasing experience; to the unique approach to high fantasy they took with Elden Ring, with its visual aesthetics being an amalgamation of many real life cultural myths and cultures, creating some very engrossing visuals from an art design perspective…
they never miss with visuals.
Isn't minecraft one of the most sold titles from the last years. I like ghost better but I'm really enjoying rotr right now.
@@perperikis5501Wait up elden ring and sekiro have mediocre graphics? Wtf are you smoking? A better art direction would've helped. Good game, but I don't like the washed out art style.
Its ridiculous that you started by saying the games arent really comparable but then ended the video saying GoT is the better game, like contradictory much? gtfo.

I love both. I really loved rise of the ronin
But ghost is supreme. Combat has less variety but it’s smoother, heavier, you can feel it
And I like the open world of Ghost more, not gonna lie. Especially with the addition of Iki island

Despite having less weapons, it did what it proposes perfectly, so that’s to be appraised.
Ghost of Tsushima is boring after you beat it. Ronin is better inways that go beyond graphics
Rise of ronin is the more fun game to be honest. I 100% ghost and it was a drag at some points. It’s good but rise of ronin combat was so much more fun and the fashion etc
Huge facts, Ghost of Tsushimas story and graphics is an 11/10 but the open world design is a 5/10 at best imo.
Agree! GoT actually even hardmode you can beat bosses only on first try!

Ronin combat is crazy I love it
It doesn't take anything away from Ronin when saying GoT is easily the better game. I don't think this comparison is needed. Ronin is a very good game

More fun = better game.
I must be crazy, because I tried playing Ghost of Tsushima and ended up deleting it after like 15ish hours or so. It just didn't click with me and I thought the open world was very boring and ubisoft like. The story didn't grab my attention either. I dunno.
I stopped reading after "I must be crazy"...

The story isn’t that good. It’s just historical (minus Jin). The gameplay was a lot of fun and I’m a sucker for stealth games.
I know everyone is saying ghost but for me Rise is much better. Combat is the most important thing to me in a game and rise blows ghost out the water.

What? The combat in Ronin is much better
@@deadeye_john he probably likes it because it looks more realistic.
So to put it short:
Ghost of Tsushima went for the more realistic approach while Rise of the Ronnin went for the imagination approach (how we imagine weapon fights)
You also have different types of assassinations, attacks from the air, attack from horse, etc. I think it provides a decent challenge and variety, but I do recommend playing on Lethal difficulty, if you can get through the start of the game like that while you unlock gear, stances and skills.

I love the Ninja Gaiden nods Rise of the Ronin have. You can actually izuna drop enemies?!
Why do people even waste their time comparing these two games. There is no similarity between these two other than Japanese from the same era. Toxic gamers just like to gaslight people into believing they’re buying something they have already seen and played, or worst. smh 🤦🏻♂️
Ronin is way better. Gameplay reigns supreme, and Team Ninja does it better than anyone.
Nasty graphics
@ that and it’s even hard to go back to for me after playing ghost
Ghost of Tsushima was and still is the superior samurai game.
Rise of the Ronin is actually Japanese. Ghost of Tsushima is just RDR2 in cosplay
@@cacaulaymulkin7724that's a compliment to GoT lol 😂
@Eric-7373 What part of this entire video or my comment said anything about Sekiro?
how common is the opinion that GoT is a masterpiece? it did some cool things with art direction and HUD/UI, but the plot, characters, and gameplay were all pretty forgettable. Its like a 7-8/10 for most people isnt it? Never heard this masterpiece talk. Like, it was fine.
I would give it an 8 great game for sure.
They "feel" similar, but they're pretty much two widely different games in completely different genres
Or sword of the immortal one of the Kinsei fits has the same color pallet could be coincidental but 🤓
This isn't even close.
Ghost of tsuhima combat feels better the slashes actually feels impactful and has the oomph nlike rise of the ronin and any other team ninja game tbh
@@milboxr9772 idk why you just lied 😭😭😭
The only reason why graphics sell is because gaming is full of casusls who care more about things that dont actually matter like graphics and fidelity, i think games like vampire survivors proved that graphics dont matter and that art style is far more important, elden ring had mid graphics but the art style was so incredible that it fooled most gamers into thinking that the graphics were high end because these casuals dont really know the difference, graphics have more to do with fidelity and textures and 90% of what you actually see on screen is the art style
GOT from graphics and narrative
ROR for gameplay and content
Does the graphics really look like PS3? I'm on the fence about this
@Lock2002ful
Thanks for the reply... yeah I didn't believe it looked like PS3😂 and PS4 graphics were amazing on some games.
Red Dead redemption 2
Top notch
Art style is most important. Ronin should have sliced the visuals up a bit with personality. The technical aspect is not as important.
6:25 The heck was that?! 😂
And I just bought ghost of Tsushima last month and I’ve been kicking myself in the head because why I didn’t buy it sooner
Thanks for the info
Ghost of Tsushima is a legendary game, but tbh Rise of the Ronin has WAYYY better combat.
I wholeheartedly believe they shouldn't be compared
Gameplay>>>>>>>graphics
Lets be real, people want to see these comparisons. The games have the same setting and essentially the same genre. You play as a samurai in both. These games are absolutely comparable no matter if its different in its core. Its natural for gamers to wanna compare rise of ronin to ghost tsushima
The only thing similar about both games is it’s set in Japan. Both games is good and I don’t think comparing them is necessary.
Rise of the Ronin is a hard pass from me, and not because of the graphics; it is because of the game design itself.
a big point for a lot of people, ghost is on pc now (2 days from posting this) and ronin is not :)
sushima definately more polished and surprises players, people says ronin has better gameplay forgotten that we've played already 3 nioh style combat game from TN and it's been at least 200h in total yet this is even a mediocre one, how much would you rate dark souls2 if it came out in 2024 and calls itself DS4?
