    Great video. It’s cool I get to toe the line with Harvey Lewis in 3 weeks at Long Haul.

    One question;
    How do you shower?

      You don't. Your water is for drinking and cooking. I rinsed out my kit after the long day and dried it on the tent ropes. We used a wet wipe/towel tablet which you dropped into a few ml. of water and wiped yourself down - face, arm-pits and groin. You are concentrated on keeping your feet as neat as possible, eating and sleeping. Best experience.

    As a former Infantryman who has been deployed in desert regions, I'm thinking I would want to have my body covered up with either a white sheet as the Arabs do or some desert camo uniforms. It keeps your skin from burning and keeps you cooler and you can use the wind to cool you through it as well. What do you think?

      Thank you for your service! I hike/run year round out in the deserts here in Southern California and during the summer I'm completely covered up. I wear a wide brimmed hat, sunglasses, gloves, cotton cargo pants, a cotton shirt and over the cotton shirt a long sleeved shirt that's UPF rated 50 plus. I wear the cotton shirt to absorb my sweat and to stay sweaty to keep me cool and the long sleeved UPF shirt blocks the suns rays from burning me. The long sleeved UPF shirt is great and all but its also a "performance" type of shirt thats made of polyester which is basically plastic and is meant to wick sweat away and keep you dry, but thats not a good thing cause our sweat is what keeps us cool when our bodies get hot. It sounds gross but the cotton shirt I wear will get drenched in sweat and that really keeps me sweaty, which is what I need to cool down. So you are right being covered up does keep you from burning and the wind will help cool you. I've been out when its been about 110 Fahrenheit and have actually felt quite comfortable and a few minor chills with some wind gusts lol. I will also take a small umbrella with me cause the shade it gives me will be about 15 degrees cooler than being in the direct sun. Oh yeah and lots of water with electrolytes too.
