    The meaning of "Satyagraha" is so delicately synthesized in this tune...it comes back at you again, and again, just as Satyagraha does! Thank you!

    Philip Glass ..such an incredible evocative composer to me. I first heard him when I was a young man. I never forgot the feeling of floating infinitely from it. Wondrous music.

    Glass takes me to some alternate universe.
    An exquisite performance from the best interpreter of Glass I have heard.

    This is imho the best rendition of the piece so far. I'd love to hear the beautiful, painfully tender ending though too.

    That is an extraordinary rendition, and the piece is both hypnotic and commanding to perform. I am horrified that the clip ends a handful of bars before the end though. It literally hurt my brain that it didn’t close...

      Oh, sorry about that, not sure why it cut out there. I did make it to the end unscathed! Thanks for listening.

      @@LisaMoore If the full clip can be had.... this is such a beautiful performance and the slower-than-usual tempo really brings out the nuances (that can get lost in Glass' style of writing) and the meditative ambience. ♥

    She did an amazing job and I’m really happy to see she stayed true to the original piece (many people have such a big head they want to put their own touch on it...not her)!

    This is possibly my single favorite piece of music in the world. Your meditative performance of it here is probably the most beautiful rendition I've ever heard. What a joy it must be to inhabit that space and to play it so very well. Thank you.

    [Sanskrit translated] The Lord said: I have passed through many a birth and many have you. I know them all, but you do not. Yet by my creative energy, I consort with nature and come to be in time. Whenever the law of righteousness withers away and lawlessness arises, then do I generate myself on Earth. I come into being age after age and take a visible shape and move a man with men for the protection of good, thrusting the evil back and setting virtue on her seat again.

    This video is beautiful and also very helpful. As a beginner, I find the fingering of this piece to be in places quite tricky, but watching you play offered useful hints.

    Hey Lisa, you probably won’t read this but i’ll try anyway. On the last page of the sheets my left hand is supposed to play C-E. I can reach CD but CE is a bit much. Do you just play the E as that is in the melody or E-E? Excellent performance btw, probably my favourite interpretation of it..

    • @MaestroBordeu
      @MaestroBordeu 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mmm is very important to reach de CE, because the C is part of the bass melody FBCE, and the C is part of that melody going in the scale from E to E. Its also used in the "middle section" when it starts with the FBCE. Try to reach the 10th, with some time you will do it uncomforably and with more time it becomes comfortable.

    I really enjoyed your laid-back playing of this. I'm curious about how you used your tablet in the performance. Were you using a timed scrolling setting - which would be ideal for music of this sort, which has no pauses or opportunities to lift the hands to flip the pages - or were you using a Bluetooth pedal?

    • @LisaMoore
      @LisaMoore  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +PSearPianist I use the forscore app on the ipad 2 air and a bluetooth foot pedal called "pageflip firefly'. thanks for your comments. glad you like the laid back feel:)

      +Lisa Moore Thanks for that, Lisa. It is fascinating how tablets are being used more and more by pianists, particularly in the USA. It is a shame that - as far as I can see - no-one has ever started a discussion forum anywhere for techniques for doing this. It is actually a complex subject. I use MobileSheets which is the (only) Android alternative, and I also have an AirTurn Bluetooth pedal which I use at home with a large monitor for practising and playing through scores that I do not want to print!

    This piano arrangement, with the double arpeggios in the right hand, are reminiscent of the "benedicion de dieu" (I forgot the whole title) piece by Liszt...
