- Rwanda is famous for the "Kigali Car-Free Day", an event that takes place twice a month in the capital, Kigali, on the first and third Sunday of each month. So that people can walk, run or cycle in complete freedom.
The history of this day dates back to 2016, when it began as part of Rwanda's efforts to preserve the environment, as motorists are encouraged to abandon their vehicles on this day in order to use other environmentally friendly means such as cycling and walking.
In the beginning, this event was implemented only one day per month in 2016, and after only one year, that is, in 2017, it was converted to an event every two weeks, so it was held on the first and third Sundays of every month, due to its great popularity, as it was attended by many officials. Among the country's senior officials, including the head of state himself, Paul Kagame, who is the current president.
As we mentioned earlier, the purpose of this event was to preserve the environment, but it has evolved into an invitation to a healthier life through exercise and regular medical examinations, as many mobile clinics are provided that provide free medical examinations along the specified route.

How infrastructure (roads , electricity,...) ; technology ( digital systems in place ); health insurance , cleanest capital even all the country , in villages.
Security , development in all most sectors of the country. Sport you get what I mean. I don't want to make comments in big European football clubs like Bayern Munich , Arsenal , PSG with Visit Rwanda; tour du Rwanda for cyclism , different and big concerts in Rwanda where kenyans or other people from different countries pay a lot of money to participate and enjoy their days , travels. Please you can't even let Kagame to stop leading.
If really you know the history of Rwanda. Not only about genocide but even how poor was this Rwanda.
We understand what the outsiders impose Africa with democracy course or what you can define about it BUT BUT BUT let us enjoy the leadership of who you call a dictator. We are pleased to have such dictator who can bring peace , reconciliation , development , security , health insurance , ... If nowadays in Africa 5 countries where international meetings take place , Rwanda is among , if three Rwanda is among , even if two my country is among. I don't write to you with arrogance no no just thanking The Almighty for caring for rwandans through the the good leadership and good governance of H.E Paul Kagame. Old , youth , teenagers , women , all generation , we still need him to be our servant for our best future.

First visited Kigali in 1994. Drove all the way from South Africa in an old Peugeot 404. Arrived at night. Drove round and round looking for the city!!. The place was like a scene from a horror movie. Very dusty, dirty with mostly mud covered buildings.People walked around like zombies with no smiles on their faces.No other African country should ever go through what the beautiful people of Rwanda went through. Critics of Rwanda have no idea of the energy and determination that drives them to even greater heights.

Kigali is safe everywhere. So just depends on proximity to the city, to the airport etc for the prices. For that better check airbnb or hotels. Com but the entire city is very very safe

It is not mandatory to attend car free day but there is other places in the city where people come together for work out like City center and Nyamirambo neighborhood
Normally car free days are organized on Sunday and most of people that day are attending churche services, others are in their homes just relaxing with families while another sizeable part also have left the capital city for the countryside to see their relatives.
I'm from the diaspora but am in and out of Rwanda several times a year and know this society in depth. There are no restrictions on where or what to do, but as in Singapore, there are obviously designated areas and activities as they build out the infrastructure. Security in a post-genocidal society, which is still undergoing a reconciliation process, is a complicated task.
The reason you don't see people running around shouting, dirty, and loud as most markets and city centers around Africa is because these areas are the administrative upscale zones for hotels, leisure, public gatherings, training, and family activities. As wel Rwandan in general are culturally obessive about being organised
