  • Raking-up a rare second cutting hay with our Massey Ferguson 50 diesel and John Deere 350 rake. It is rare to have second cutting hay in May in the mountains of Virginia - Video shows it all.

Good to see the Massey Ferguson 50 out there doing the raking. I like hearing the old 50 running and I like the side delivery rakes, haven't ever used the 350 before, but it looks like it's doing great. Thanks, good luck and have a nice weekend!

Really like seeing that MF50 out there! Couldn’t agree more on the Perkins diesel. Does yours have ground speed PTO to run that rake?

It has ground speed PTO, however the manual for this rake requires 540 PTO. Don’t run it that fast though. I had a Ferguson rake that required ground PTO.

@@HumbleHaymakers That makes sense! My 135 has ground speed, my other two Masseys don't. I used to have a Massey 20 rake, which was clearly designed for ground speed (I never had a manual). When I got the 165 without that option, I would run it as slow as I could manage - but I think that ultimately did in the bearings on it. I was looking for an excuse to trade up, anyhow 😅. But that JD looks like it runs well! How is it to take on/off? (That was my biggest complaint with the 20. Back in my days of only having the 135... exhausting on a baling day)

@@windrowfarm it’s not bad to get on/off on the Model 50 with a true cat 1 3pt hitch.

Hope you get it baled before the party starts.
