    I ordered bareroot strawberries and put them in my hydroponic setup this week. When they produce runners, I will definately use your method. Thank you for sharing this video.

    Great video. I have a couple storage tubs with aeration stones that are full of strawberries in 2" net pots. I started mine from seed. I put them outside in freezing temps for a week and had a 70 % germination rate in soil. The seed pack had 800 or so seeds. I have been selling them from $1-$3 a plant and have covered all my growing costs for the season.

      That’s awesome! I read on my strawberry seed packet to freeze the seeds for 3 weeks. And they are growing indoors ❤

    Nice video. I have some amber mason jars that are 1/2 gallon that I think would work well for this. I just purchased some plants from the nursery yesterday, so I'll be looking for runners to start these indoors! Good job and thank you for the time that you took making this video. We appreciate you!

    Beautiful setup! I'm doing an NFT system with strawberries - just put them in via net cups because they were the kind from the grocery store with partially grown roots. We planted some in pots and will use those for runners and plan to do what you're doing with the propagation. Do you think this would work okay in an NFT setup? Thanks for the awesome video!

    • @erich1394
      @erich1394 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey - so I lost about half of the strawberry crowns, some of them just never really took off. The remaining 4 crowns are doing well though! Did you run into any issues with getting enough light on them? I have them in a sunny window with tint and some underpowered LEDs. Considering using a higher intensity light on them during fruiting?

  • @palmtree5544
    @palmtree5544 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why don't you just split the rockwool from top to bottom to the hole. open the rockwool and lay the runner in the middle so part of it hangs out the bottom to reach the solution. Place in your net pot. Done.

    After trying for 2 years, I gave up on strawberries. If grown indoors year-round, pests become a MAJOR problem, as they have no other food alternative and they all swarm the strawberries. A single aphid, spider mite, thrip, or fungus gnat getting to the berries and its game over for all the plants. If you grow them outside during the summer, the pests will go to their preferred plant and largely leave the strawberries alone, but that is also the time when strawberries are cheap to buy.
