I ordered bareroot strawberries and put them in my hydroponic setup this week. When they produce runners, I will definately use your method. Thank you for sharing this video.
Great video. I have a couple storage tubs with aeration stones that are full of strawberries in 2" net pots. I started mine from seed. I put them outside in freezing temps for a week and had a 70 % germination rate in soil. The seed pack had 800 or so seeds. I have been selling them from $1-$3 a plant and have covered all my growing costs for the season.
great tip. i saw a lot of people tying bags to the runners out if the dirt and it looked like a real struggle. i tried this method and am now seing success in root development, awesome stuff.
Wonderful video! I love that you utilized things from around your home in your hydroponics system (bread tie and a Coke can) . Very creative and innovated!!
Nice video. I have some amber mason jars that are 1/2 gallon that I think would work well for this. I just purchased some plants from the nursery yesterday, so I'll be looking for runners to start these indoors! Good job and thank you for the time that you took making this video. We appreciate you!
Hi josh, I went on your website to see what lights you use for the berries but it didn’t specify which lights are for what plants. Can you share the model you use for the strawberries please?
Would it work to just put it in water to get enough roots to replant? I don't have a hydroponics system. Im interested in one but I have a lot to learn first
Great video! I just got started watching your videos. Hope to find one where you tell how to make the solution for growing. I saw in one you had air bubblers also, is that something that is necessary? Plants are amazing.
My man! I bought some seeds, I'm going to give it a shot... (I didn't want to wait until Spring). I appreciate the info on rooting runners, hopefully I can get the seeds to take and maybe I can load a bed come Spring. I hope all is well, kind sir. Smashed.
Just make sure u monitor all plants that you bring inside for pests. Those strawberries had aphids and they took over once they didn’t have outdoor predators.
Yeah I learned that lesson the hard way with some sweet potato slips I brought inside. Even though I washed and sprayed them, there were still meal bugs and they attacked everything in my set up 😢. I pretty much had to start over. Lesson learned 😄
Hi Joshua, I love your channel. I am wondering if you think a hanging strawberry bag planted in a potting mix with grow lights on the top and sides would work? I would hang it in a strong wire shelf wrapped like a grow tent. Your thoughts?
Nice method; I don’t know why I did not think of rock wool! My hydroponic strawberry attempts have always died from root rot. The rock wool gives such a good air to water ratio. Thanks for the video; I’ve been eating to grow indoor strawberries for an extended period for ages.
I am making a video on the topic of nutrients but i use floranova grow and fora nova bloom from general hydroponics. I also use a calcium and magnesium booster called calimagic.
How did they turn out? I can’t seem to find a follow up video. What type of nutrients did you use ? What is best for hydroponic strawberries ? Thank you
I totally slaughtered those strawberries. They had bugs on them and it nearly took over my whole system. I then sprayed everything with too much hydrogen peroxide and killed the bugs and the plants lol. Lesson learned. I’m trying again now.
@Joshua Rudd I am sorry to hear that. Well. I will give it a try and see where it goes. Fingers crossed. I have them in earth right now as that is how I bought them. I tried to slip one in. Rockwool bit that is not going so well. It got all algae. Any tips would be appreciated.
I had no idea how easy they are clone! You don’t even need Rooting powder/gel and it comes with its own damn stick that serves a dual purpose?! All hail the Strawberry!
Still working on flowering plants. It’s a different beast. I don’t eat a lot of basil and if u don’t eat it then the plant will eventually become bitter.
I buy almost everything from amazon! here is the affiliate link you requested. amzn.to/3nVe11r I also have most of my setup parts here ruddshomefarming.com/my-indoor-grow-setup/
Luckily, I haven’t needed to adjust ph because my water is between 6.5 and 7. You need a ph tester and some ph up and down. I’ll make a video on it shortly.
Beautiful setup! I'm doing an NFT system with strawberries - just put them in via net cups because they were the kind from the grocery store with partially grown roots. We planted some in pots and will use those for runners and plan to do what you're doing with the propagation. Do you think this would work okay in an NFT setup? Thanks for the awesome video!
Hey - so I lost about half of the strawberry crowns, some of them just never really took off. The remaining 4 crowns are doing well though! Did you run into any issues with getting enough light on them? I have them in a sunny window with tint and some underpowered LEDs. Considering using a higher intensity light on them during fruiting?
Why don't you just split the rockwool from top to bottom to the hole. open the rockwool and lay the runner in the middle so part of it hangs out the bottom to reach the solution. Place in your net pot. Done.
After trying for 2 years, I gave up on strawberries. If grown indoors year-round, pests become a MAJOR problem, as they have no other food alternative and they all swarm the strawberries. A single aphid, spider mite, thrip, or fungus gnat getting to the berries and its game over for all the plants. If you grow them outside during the summer, the pests will go to their preferred plant and largely leave the strawberries alone, but that is also the time when strawberries are cheap to buy.
If you would get a razor and disinfect it with alcohol and scrape the stem before putting into The DWC set up you would increase your re-vegging speed💯
Want my equipment?
I have a list here of everything I use! ruddshomefarming.com/my-indoor-grow-setup/
Clear, concise, and to the point. Thanks, Joshua!
Your welcome! Glad I could help!

Did they grow?

That’s awesome! I read on my strawberry seed packet to freeze the seeds for 3 weeks. And they are growing indoors ❤
Looks great and will look for more ideas on your channel! I love your great “to the point” commentary! Thank you.

I love the use of the bread tie.. thank you. 😁
A study in simplicity... thank you.
what did you put into the water to make your hydroponic solution?
Hi... your video was really helpful.... cheers from Australia
Very informative, appreciated you posting this
Where do you get the containers and the baskets to grow the strawberries? What kind of soil do you need for the strawberry?
Thanks, your video was very useful. There is an earlier question not yet answered, but what nutrients do you use and how often do you feed them?
Hi josh, I went on your website to see what lights you use for the berries but it didn’t specify which lights are for what plants. Can you share the model you use for the strawberries please?
I make a lot of changes to my system often but currently im using the Vivosun VS1000
What grow media did you use?
Would it work to just put it in water to get enough roots to replant? I don't have a hydroponics system. Im interested in one but I have a lot to learn first
Probably want to add an air bubbler or you ,ay drown the plant
Great video! I just got started watching your videos. Hope to find one where you tell how to make the solution for growing. I saw in one you had air bubblers also, is that something that is necessary? Plants are amazing.
Thank you for these videos ! Can you make an update video on this strawberry plant?
So you can't just use a regular cutting, it has to be a "runner" if I'm correct? Any advise would be great, thanks for the video
Runners are your best bet.
Thanks man. Im really ready to start trying strawberries and this helped with some things! Thanks!
Glad I could help!

Thank you! So far I got lots of strawberry plants but I’m working on getting good strawberries. They look like mutants right now lol.
How long should this to see growth in hydroponics from bareroot plants
Clone gel works great as well
Thanks for the tip!
What solution do you use?
brilliant video!
Nice video, thank you. Some more step by step instructions, about your hydroponics set-up would be nice.
I’ll work on that!
Yes the idea is very good but there should be a follow up video showing the growth and adult stage of the plant
Very clever idea 👍🏾. I’m definitely going to give it a try. I think I may even try it with my maypop vine 🤔😊. TFS

What are you using for your hydroponic solution for the strawberries?
Looking forward to trying this method.
Im working on an updated method! Stay tuned
I love fresh strawberries 🍓 do you cook or make salads with them?
i pop them straight into my mouth!

Hi.
How does this dude not have 100k subscribers... let's get this dude out there. Subbed and liked.
Thanks for the support! It’s always good to get encouragement.
Thanks 🙏 bro
I've tried a lot of different ways people to get them to grow, without much luck. Your way looks promising. What do you use for nutrition?
I am making a video on the topic of nutrients but i use floranova grow and fora nova bloom from general hydroponics. I also use a calcium and magnesium booster called calimagic.
@@joshuarudd6297 Good video, thanks for the info :)
What fertilizer solution do u use

Strawberry update would be cool. Also, any reason you don’t grow more basil?

@@joshuarudd6297 Word. Looking forward to your next video!
Joshua Rudd I am unable to find any strawberries updates. Would love to see even any little progress. It is promising
I got strawberry roots in the mail. Will post updates soon

I think it’s EC

Try indoor bug zapper light for flying pests. The crawling ones can be killed using neem oil spray.

I’ll give it a shot!
strawberry seeds can be a pain in the azz...
as long as 21-30 days to germinate, during that time they need consistent moisture and heat.
🤔
Shit the subscribers are 666
What is the "solution" You're using to establish a root system? Just the grow and bloom?
BTW: I looooove Hyper Potions. amazing artist!
