    Currently binge watching your van build. Great content, well done. Atlas is such a scene stealer, isn't he.

    This is shaping up to be a good series and quality build as your attention to detail is looking great.

    I cut my foam with a bread knife when I laid my sub flooring - I didn’t get the logic for sub flooring when I laid mine 😂my vans like built but the floor needs vinyl flooring still and I need to think of a way of finishing my floor. Lol😂

      I think during my van building process, I learnt many many different ways to cut this PIR board!

    totally LOVE Atlas. what a star! the bit where his lead drags all the tape rolls out of the van was really funny. Its a great series and I am enjoying every video. BTW, what a beautiful area you live in.

    Just found your van build series and after watching pretty much every other van build on youtube this is my personal favourite. Great job and really well explained.

      Thank you very much! Glad you find it well explained, I try to do it in the way my brain works

    To anyone doing a van to camper build for the first time, familiarise yourself with what your spare wheel cradle release bolt looks like and ensure you don't cover it up with permanent fixed flooring over it

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Conveniently many people reuse the old floor ply if in good condition or at least use it as a template which normally will have the spare wheel bolt access hole already in .

    Nice work, I did chuckle when you took the blocks back in the van!! I'm also building a MK8 so I've subscribed and will follow with interest.

      Jon Williams yeah you are definitely not the first person to point out the fact that I overlooked something obvious like I have a van to move them!

      Thank you very much, lots more interesting stuff to come and a few things to don’t see too often in van builds.

    Can I ask why did you choose a transit to convert over other van makes ? as I need to do the same but confused what van to buy = transit,sprinter,crafter,etc

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I used to sell Christmas trees so we would have long-term rentals of a fair different models of vans. When I drove the transit, I instantly loved how it felt like a car opposed to a piece of industrial machinery

  • @jujingle
    @jujingle 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi great vids. I am also converting a MK8, did you cover over the “bolt” to release the spare tyre that’s under the back of the van?

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s covered at the moment but I’ll be uncovering it again , my ply wood flooring has hole in it for the bolt so I just need a hole saw the right size to cut a hole back into the insulation. Best of luck on your build!

    We too have just bought a LWB 2018 Ford Transit so are really enjoying your vids. We wanted to know about access to spare tyre too but you’ve explained that now 👍 Can we ask is there a reason you glued rather than used screws to secure your floor frame to the floor? Many Thanks 😊

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Welcome to my channel. The main reason I went for glueing over screwing was I could see the damage done to the inside of the van from the old screws used to fix the hold floor down. On the inside of the van the paint had started to pit and get Corrosion between the paint work and vans metal and that was on a 2 year old van. In my “fixing holes with pop rivets” video and can see how easy the paint was flaking off round the screw hole with a wire brush around the old screw holes. Hope that helps and enjoy your van!

    great video. How many tubes of ct 1 did you need for the floor?

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trying to think back. probably one and a bit. But I used CT1 multiple times throughout the rest of the build as well so getting a few extra isn’t bad

      Thanks for your reply Alex. I have just bought a van and have been watching your videos and am about to start the build. Waiting on pop rivets to arrive to start the floor.

    What did it cost to insulate the van? I’ve just bought a mk8 med wheel base and am converting. I’m at the stage where I’m like. Do I just throw a bed and a cooker in it and use it as a get away r do I insulate vapour seal etc. An idea on cost would be great 👍

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to says as I recycled a bunch of the insulation for my old van which saved me money and stuffed the wall cavities with, .then over the top of that I probably bought 5 sheets of 25mm insulation board @ £25 each and 2 of 50mm board at £32 , plus a few more rolls £16 each of recycled bottle insulation.
      Some is definitely better than none! Depends where you are in the world really. For me the highlands of Scotland would be rather chilly this winter without insulation or diesel heater

    • @ToniReviews
      @ToniReviews 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mispronounced Adventures I’m in London but I plan on using it to holiday in and that will include Scotland, Uk in winter months plus the continent so a wide variety. I was just worried that once I start insulation that unforeseen costs would arise and I’d be then tied in to continuing as I’d gone so far. Just purchased 2 side windows which I will be attempting to fit myself. Love your windows (I’m only up to episode 4.... don’t spoil it for me lol)

    Where did you build your van?

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      My old rented house new Lanark in scotland and later on my parents house down in southern England

  • @Brad87850

    Hi mate, I have the same truck, and I’m using the same wood. Off hand, do you know how many packs/lengths of wood you used. I’m getting the 25 x 38mm (pack of 7) from Wickes UK

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      xXxbradd3rsxXx yeah I was using the 3m long batons. I’m are from B&Q, they sell packs of 10 or as individual. I also used some of 25mm x 50mm x 3m batons for some of the wall battening in the van.

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      xXxbradd3rsxXx oh how many packs! Ill look that up on my spreadsheet. One moment

    • @Brad87850
      @Brad87850 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mispronounced Adventures thank you, I did take a walk down to b&q to get some pop rivets for the floor, however their wood selection is very limited due to covid in my area!

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      xXxbradd3rsxXx 25mm x 38mm x 3m I must of used at least 16 batons, and for the 25mm x 50mm x 3m 6 or 7 batons. That total for floor and walls. However I built a pretty complicated framework on the walls for my internal flares to add extra space. You could save on a couple batons if you didn’t bother with that.

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      xXxbradd3rsxXx yeah I agree. Pretty sure that’s the only reason I ended up with the blue ones as they were the only ones left. Most people didn’t understand why they were blues I didn’t want them because of the colour

    И что эта прлита 25 мм, промерзает в мороз -30 ???

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The floor is definitely cold when it’s -30 outside, but not the biggest issues on the air temperature of 21° inside. Even if you had 50mm, you would still have the same issue. insulation just delays hot loss. Not stop it

      @@MispronouncedAdventures How then to avoid this effect?

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @yb4628 it’s a difficult one, panel vans, having a steel floor is always going all cold, compared to a motorhome.
      Although some form of underfloor heating would help
