I totally agree. Can't put my finger on it exactly, but I feel that the production on the albums does them a disservice. There is a sterility where there should be so much more sonic warmth to embrace the vibe of the music.
This is not only musically entrancing, but I love how they incorporate both historical and mythological elements into their songs. "Fairy of the Bog" is a good example of them doing both.
What fascinates me personally most is that Zora sounds amazing on record, but does it perfectly live, too. It is insane how much talent she has. That + the epic instrumentals make for an amazing band, I truly do hope more people will know about them & support them, they are great people who deserve the world. ♥

I would love you to cover more music from Blackbriar!
She, really, is a singular voice. As someone who loves mythology and story telling, I, really, do appreciate that BB makes such topics a guiding motif; and, yes, her voice absolutely ensorcells. There are those times - in darkest hours past midnight's stroke - while imbibing a stronger drink, listening to their tunes, that I do find myself checking behind me, every so often, just to make sure... Usually, a sin eater was already a downtrodden person in society. Outcasted, destitute, living on the outskirts and this was their only way to scrape by. They didn't do it because they cared about the dead person's soul. They typically did it because it was pay and a bite to eat. They did it because this was all they could do to get by. I've been a fan of Blackbriar and Zora Cock since they started, they're quite well known to people in the Metal and Goth scene but not so much beyond, I'm so glad that you discovered them and Zora's amazing voice. At times she reminds me of another band from some years ago, 'All About Eve' and their lead singer 'Julianne Regan', not so much in overall sound but in certain moments.
Zora really is one of a kind. Everytime I listen to Blackbriar I appreciate Zora's vocal nuances and the uniqueness of her voice and style, and of course the music!
The music is amazing, I love Blackbriar, and Zora's vocals are so cool. but I'm finding more and more a bit difficult to get through your videos these days, and I've watched for years, since you first 'discovered' metal music. Please see this as meant as constructive criticism and not anything else, as I still recognise your popularity and success (and wish you loads more of it!) Sometimes, it's not necessary to stop the songs as much, or go back quite as much. Or why not change it up - listen all the way through, let us see your initial reactions as you listen, and THEN do an analysis on certain parts? I realise too this may require a bit more set-up on your behalf, but I feel it would reward us with a less choppy, less frustrating viewing experience. Your enjoyment and knowledge of the music is really infectious and I often find myself smiling along with you, and grateful that you pick up on things I was hoping you would notice, but sometimes you speak so softly and go into mumble-mode, I just can't hear what you're saying. Some of us are OLD, lol! And over-waffle slightly, saying the same thing is different way, and repeatedly. I also acknowledge a lot of folk will say, get a load of 'im, lol! I discovered Blackbriar by chance many years ago, and I think they are one of my favourite 'happy little accidents." I've always thought I'd love to hear a duet with Zora and Sharon from Within Temptation, I suspect their voices would be awesome together.

I am so excited for their new album! I'll have to wait for my physical stuff to get to Canada from The Netherlands, but I'm still so excited! I love how they make use of folklore, myth and the supernatural in their songs, and how carefully they appear to have crafted their haunting sound.
This is a beautiful and haunting song and video. It makes me want to learn more about Blackbriar as I don't think I've listened to them before. Definitely perfect for Halloween! Another I'd recommend to Elizabeth or anyone who isn't familiar with her is Loreena McKennitt, especially All Soul's Night, another great Halloween/Samhain song from a while back. I think her voice is in some ways comparable to Zora's, combining a kind of operatic quality with Celtic and folk traditions.
I have discovered this channel with the analysis of Jinjer's ' Pisces '. It's amazing how prolific this channel is. 😊 Eating illnesses and sins is what also inspired Stephen King 's ' The Green Mile '❤
I found your channel not long from finding Lorna shore recently. I literally am obsessed with all types of music and get chills all the time listening to certain things. The excitement that you show in your videos for music and sound is definitely how I feel.
I first listened to Blackbriar when they released Until Eternity back in 2017 and was immediately mesmerized by her voice. It's taken a bit but I'm glad this band is getting the recognition they deserve.
We saw Blackbriar supporting Kamelot recently. It was the first time I had heard them. Unfortunately the whole band was ill. Zora managed 3 songs before she couldn't go on and her voice gave in. I was astounded by how amazing she was, I didn't even realise she was unwell. She was so distraught that they couldn't carry on. Wolverhampton was very supportive and we loved what we heard. Blackbriar got 3 new fans from our group that night.
"Selkie' was the first song I heard by them and I immediately fell in love with it. Maybe a week later I was adopting my second female kitty from a shelter and she had the name Selkie bestowed upon her before her carrier even made to the car 😻
Speaking of bands that deserve WAY MORE ATTENTION, I'd love for you to return to Ne Obliviscaris some day. As I've mentioned before, I was introduced to the band through the one video you made on them and they've become my favourite band for life, not close. I'd love to show you all the magical sounds and emotions I've discovered with this band thanks to you. Another bands worth mentioning that you definitely shouldn't miss out on and that I haven't seen mentioned much: Imminence, The Birthday Massacre, Sylvaine, In Flames.
I love Black Briar, they definitely deserve more attention. I deeply regret missing their show when they came to Utah. Hopefully they'll come again. I low key wish the would revisit(just a little bit) their style from Ready to Kill

I just found Blackbriar like a couple weeks ago cause they are opening for Battle Beast in Baltimore that my friend and I are going too so we checked them out we were both blown away with how good they were cause neither of us heard of them. We actually both agree our favorite song is Bloody Footprints In The Snow. Though I love the whole album and can't wait to see them live in June
This is really beautiful, the build of the strings and the guitar together when it enters really deliver. Elizabeth, if you want more music with strings that’s perfect for the season you should check out Carach Angren. They play Symphonic Black Metal and their songs are about horror and ghost stories. Vocalist Seregor is an incredible storyteller and a master of expression. Their song Sewn for Solitude about Frankenstein’s “creature” is guaranteed to bring chills and tears to you eyes!

I discovered Blackbriar by chance many years ago, and I think they are one of my favourite 'happy little accidents." I've always thought I'd love to hear a duet with Zora and Sharon from Within Temptation, I suspect their voices would be awesome together.
I detest how much amazing music, voices & performances are out there i find myself loving which i have no other way of discovering.

I am so excited for their new album! I'll have to wait for my physical stuff to get to Canada from The Netherlands, but I'm still so excited! I love how they make use of folklore, myth and the supernatural in their songs, and how carefully they appear to have crafted their haunting sound.
This is a beautiful and haunting song and video. It makes me want to learn more about Blackbriar as I don't think I've listened to them before. Definitely perfect for Halloween! Another I'd recommend to Elizabeth or anyone who isn't familiar with her is Loreena McKennitt, especially All Soul's Night, another great Halloween/Samhain song from a while back. I think her voice is in some ways comparable to Zora's, combining a kind of operatic quality with Celtic and folk traditions.

I found your channel not long from finding Lorna shore recently. I literally am obsessed with all types of music and get chills all the time listening to certain things. The excitement that you show in your videos for music and sound is definitely how I feel.
I first listened to Blackbriar when they released Until Eternity back in 2017 and was immediately mesmerized by her voice. It's taken a bit but I'm glad this band is getting the recognition they deserve.

We saw Blackbriar supporting Kamelot recently. It was the first time I had heard them. Unfortunately the whole band was ill. Zora managed 3 songs before she couldn't go on and her voice gave in. I was astounded by how amazing she was, I didn't even realise she was unwell. She was so distraught that they couldn't carry on. Wolverhampton was very supportive and we loved what we heard. Blackbriar got 3 new fans from our group that night.

"Selkie' was the first song I heard by them and I immediately fell in love with it. Maybe a week later I was adopting my second female kitty from a shelter and she had the name Selkie bestowed upon her before her carrier even made to the car 😻
Speaking of bands that deserve WAY MORE ATTENTION, I'd love for you to return to Ne Obliviscaris some day. As I've mentioned before, I was introduced to the band through the one video you made on them and they've become my favourite band for life, not close. I'd love to show you all the magical sounds and emotions I've discovered with this band thanks to you.
Another bands worth mentioning that you definitely shouldn't miss out on and that I haven't seen mentioned much: Imminence, The Birthday Massacre, Sylvaine, In Flames.
I love Black Briar, they definitely deserve more attention. I deeply regret missing their show when they came to Utah. Hopefully they'll come again.

when i saw you go over their last video i was hoping Youd review this song this makes me so happy to hear your take and just be amazed at her vocals. I've always said she has an angelic calming voice. You should go over her cicada acapella video, gives me goosebumps every time i hear it
I just found Blackbriar like a couple weeks ago cause they are opening for Battle Beast in Baltimore that my friend and I are going too so we checked them out we were both blown away with how good they were cause neither of us heard of them. We actually both agree our favorite song is Bloody Footprints In The Snow. Though I love the whole album and can't wait to see them live in June
This is really beautiful, the build of the strings and the guitar together when it enters really deliver.
Elizabeth, if you want more music with strings that’s perfect for the season you should check out Carach Angren. They play Symphonic Black Metal and their songs are about horror and ghost stories. Vocalist Seregor is an incredible storyteller and a master of expression. Their song Sewn for Solitude about Frankenstein’s “creature” is guaranteed to bring chills and tears to you eyes!
