With govt working on 5 years cycles - the solution seems impossible. A visionary Govt is needed for the task which seems quite impossible. Sadly , Uttrakhand has rampant corruption- irrespective of whoever rules. Every elected representative and every govt employee has only one goal and that is to fill his pockets.
Farming and organic products could be of viable solutions.
The century old institutions of traditional religious studies should be revived. Uttrakhand should strive to revive its past glory.
National and state colleges should be opened up across states.
Tourism is a solid solution. Infrastructure of Uttrakhand is way behind Himachal and Nepal.
Another one is to decentralization of Govt institutions and spreading them across the states. With digitization and internet connectivity this is more possible now than ever.
New towns should be settled at picturesque locations.
All this will take lots of patience and public private partnership.

Drying of natural springs, one of the major source of drinking water is another major reasons for such ghost villages, we need to conserve the natural springs as well

Make these army villages where family members of army can stay and the soldiers can frequently come and visit them

    • @piyushaggarwal501

If there are facilities, jobs, - general people will too live there...why would army family too live there if they have to suffer bad infrastructure, and harsh life

    • @harshb747

@@piyushaggarwal501 Having facilities jobs in such remote places is difficult. Army families can live because their man is already employed there. Plus there are hardships but army families might still prefer it because of being able to meet their man frequently.

Well the army already has their own living quarters both for families in peace areas as well as when the Offr/JCO/NCO & ORs get posted out. If the family cannot be accommodated in these quarters, they are given a rent amount (In places like Delhi) to stay in Civilian quarters. Making a new township will be really really really expensive along with the facilities needed which would be a monumental waste of money, a better option would be just to give Income security to the migrants

Unfortunately the truth is, the newer generation will not like to live in these remote villages. It is no longer feasible to live in remote villages anymore. Govt should focus on developing small towns like Pauri, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Almora and neighbouring villages as a town cluster which should be self sufficient in education, healthcare and commerce and settle the migrating population there. That is the only solution.

Most of the regions in uttarakhand are affected from this problem.
In the political sphere their is a leadership vaccum in uttarakhand. Poltical leaders just are in a hurry to become chief minister. No proper roadmap or future policies are being provided by the government. And it is the case of any govt irrespective of the party. Most the representative live in cities like dehradun and haldwani. It clearly tells how much one can expect from them.
But during covid many of the abandoned villages found their family members.
With the youth embracing his culture, their could be some good in uttarakhand in the future.

Of course, the Government failed. They always do; never seeing the tourist potential of such beautiful place in India.
Indians spend a lot of money going to switzerland and other outside countries
Never realising the treasure is near our front door. Neighbors garden is always greener.
Anyway... That's why we are still a poor country.
