Food waste is really a big issue. Organizations such as Food Bank NT in Australia is trying to talk with big companies such as coles and woolworths to donate or sell food/items that have shorter life spans at a much lower price so that low income familes can afford them.

Daniel is really doing an excellent job by collecting thrown away food, sorting it and giving to needy. This really requires courage to dothis work without feeling ashamed. On the contrary people throwing away extra food should be shown such videos so they realize that throwing such good food is criminaĺ and they learn to order only sufficient food

There are reasons why people throw away furniture in govt housing estate: 1) Chinese especially believe that everything must be new when moving to new house 2) BTO flats are smaller so not enough space for big furniture, I hv donated my good conditioned armchair to salvation army when I downgraded, 3) when they sold their bigger flat & downgraded so they made a tidy sum of the proceeds & throw away stuff to declutter etc. I hv witnessed it all. I'hv a friend who threw away brand new electrical appliances (gifts from friends) still in their boxes when they moved out of their condo. As for food stuff, need to be careful.

I think we should do something to educate or mandate business (all businesses, from SMEs, MNCs, down to the hawkers and retailers) to be socially responsibile in the process of doing business - that includes honesty, proper disposal of waste or giving their rejected products that can still be used to charities.

He should come to Punggol and he will be shocked. The residents living at my hdb block throw away FURNITURE all the time esp during festive seasons. 90% of those thrown are in good if not as good as NEW condition. Ive seen a few cupboards and tables that has literally no marks or stains on it and i can tell its very expensive with good quality. Never understood why would they wanna throw them away when they spend so much to buy it. They also like to throw away other stuff in good condition too

Foreign companies who fail to have good recycling habits will get penalised in japan. And thus impacted on their waste management very positively. I think Singapore has a long way to go cos we are very poor with our recycling programme

This the result of Marie Condo-ing your house and “Minimalism”. All these unsustainable impulse throwing away of items is very upsetting. I wish people practise more conscious when purchasing stuff, and not be so wasteful. He’s definitely not picking up trash, he’s picking up your misused/underused stuff. Together with issues like fast fashion it’s really not helping at all. How I wish people have started earning lesser and cherish their things a little more. Just because we have the financial ability, doesn’t mean we should be wasteful.
Pls donate, share or give away your items. You can donate bookshelves to shelters, old unwanted furnitures to manufacturing company. As for perishable items like food, pls set up a giveaway. If you have food items lying around and have no more interest in eating them, pls give them away. There are Ppl who are struggling out there.
Little things like books, stickers stationeries, that clothing you’ve been letting it collecting dust, just give them away dont throw it away.
Lastly, reusing your stuff is also key, you can reuse clothing as rags to clean your house.
