    I met Anton last year for coffee. Good guy. I've been doing real esate and renovating houses in Japan for 13 years or so now and I own 17 homes. It's crazy how strong media is for some people who just start out vs someone who has been doing it for a long time.

    My job is buying, renovating & renting properties.
    It is not an easy thing to do. The project is less about the property and more about the people/tradesmen.
    Huge respect to Anton for accomplishing this in a foreign country with significant language, law and custom barriers.
    He makes it sound so easy. Seriously impressive.

      Most jobs can be easy. I also buy, renovate and rent properties here in Japan. As long as there isn't any major construction involved most jobs are pretty easy.
      Sometimes I do some things on my own and sometimes I hire someone.

    There is something very attractive in young men who buy, build or renovate their own houses. I myself am married to one.

    So your plan is to create a dysfunctional housing market in japan too?

    • @lycanlube7484

      Yup that is my concern they are trying to make Japan housing all investment which will screw the prices like the west

      Yeah. But its a losing investment. There will be more and more akiyas coming up, like they said. It will keep dragging the market down. People don't want to live in the country.

      It is like buckets of water in an ocean. Japan is the world's third to forth largest country by GDP. Japan is actually very large and most of the places are sparse with low and even too few population. Just drive half hour from Nagoya and it feels like rual US towns everywhere. Not everywhere in Japan looks like Tokyo or Osaka.

  • @zzzowie
    @zzzowie 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I get the impression that you need to speak Japanese in order to make buying an akiya a success. What do the people here with experience think?

      You can hire an interpreter/translator from an online translation service. It's not very expensive.

    • @zzzowie
      @zzzowie 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@larynOneka8080 As Anton indicates, it is important to establish a relationship with the local community. I don't think that could be done using a translation service.

      @zzzowie
      You don't need to establish vibes with the local community to purchase a house. You need money, a real estate agent and a seller that's willing to sell you their house. My Japanese real estate agent has never told me to go set up vibes with the community. Don't act like a spoiled brat and be nice to your neighbors. That's pretty much the rule in any country in the world.

      all these dying inka villages in the boonies of Japan will soon become enclaves of Western foreigners . They should encourage foreigners who come from hunting cultures as wild boar, pigs and bears are becoming a problem. Imagine if 30-50 Texans all bought akiya in the same area and turned a village in Japan into a mini-Texas.

    • @zzzowie
      @zzzowie 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChimpoLust I didn't know much about this, but read that indeed there are large and growing populations of boars and bears, also in the Kanto region close to Tokyo. Don't the Japanese hunt these animals? I read the meat is tasty.
