I loved listening to this! So glad this appeared on my TH-cam! Love his honest and realistic views on music education and the music industry. And he is on point when he said that doing music is like expanding the pie - bit by bit the pie grows bigger :)) One has to have perseverance, humility and a big dose of optimism 😁
I couldn’t help myself not writing a comment. I am so thankful that he gave this honest interview. He said it all what I feel as a japanese living in Europe. Kinda opposite, but I think there’s a point you won’t ever notice if you don’t know the world ouside of the island, Japan. I hope all the Japanese could speak English to undestand what Dr. Capital or observer of Japan would mention. Not translated Japanese sub, but hearing by themselves, by their ears. I even sence what he is trying to make aware is beyond music.
It's amazing how much the world opens when you take the time to learn another language and culture ♥️ We wish everyone could speak Japanese but having guests that find themselves immersed in niche areas of Japanese culture is hopefully a close second -editor
Love how respectfully you listen to and let the interviewee speak without interrupting or imposing. Such interesting topics and achieved people you bring into your spot. Congrats and thank you very much! Amazing getting to know Dr. Capital. I wish more Japanese people could speak English to get to understand and open to a wide, wide world of arts and culture worldwide. Life gets so much interesting when you can interact freely culture wise et al. Then we all grow together.
I just discovered Dr Capital recently. This is the first time I’ve heard him speak so much English. His Japanese is impeccable. I grew up in Japan and used to speak it fluently, but decades over here in the US has severely diminished my ability to speak it, especially after my mother passed away 15 years ago, although I can understand it just fine. He has inspired me to find a way to get my spoken fluency back to what it has been in the past. I also need to relearn my Kanji so that I can read his book. Just the few Dr Capital videos I’ve watched so far has already taught me so much more than I ever knew about applied music theory. I’m looking forward to watching more of his videos.
Loved this really insightful and thoughtful discussion. It's very helpful to understand how you navigated a new culture and what you worked hard on so that you could have a positive and successful experience

Right! It's amazing to hear him in English.
I really appreciate hearing Dr. Capital's take on music and being a musician, especially in Japan!
