- 👋 In todays video we take a look at the all new and redesigned 2023 BMW X7 xDrive40i! This is a massive and luxurious SUV from BMW and the largest SUV that they offer! This is not the highest trim level, but for the xDrive40i, it is very loaded!
** New for 2023 is a power increase for both horsepower and torque! I misspoke and mentioned the 2022 year model specs. This 2023 pumps out 375 HP and 398 LB FT of torque! ***
This 2023 BMW X7 xDrive40i finished off in gray has a great look to it! With all of the black accents and the all new 23'' wheels, it really gives it that ultra luxurious feel! The exterior design is proportional for the size, especially when you compare it to the smaller BMW X5, it's a bit stretched but looks great! The front end is completely new with the split style to the headlight design along with the rest of the bumper! The only other main exterior difference is the rear end with the tail light design which is slightly different!
The interior of this 2023 BMX X7 is really where you want to be! And the gauge cluster and infotainment system is now one large screen with tons of technology! The shifter is also a new design along with the new key fob! It's a full three row SUV totaling 6 seats for passengers and there are amenities for every seat in this vehicle! The third row passengers have AC controls, a sunroof, cup holders and plenty of space and windows for a lot of light to pass through! The second row captain chairs make it even more comfortable to cruise around and lounge out and the front seats even have massaging seats! Talk about luxury! It's also a very comfortable vehicle to drive, extremely quite on the road and offers a ton of technology!
The large infotainment screen and the digital gauge cluster provide everything that you could possibly want! And with this not being the M model with the larger engine, it still gets up and moves and handles its weight well! It does feature M sport options like the steering wheel, brakes, wheels and M sport exhaust! For the size it can take turns and feels solid doing that with the adaptive suspension! This is also a very capable vehicle as far as towing goes, so if you are in the market for a large SUV because you need the space, but you also need it for towing and you want luxury....the 2023 BMW X7 is a great option with a few different trim levels depending on what you want!!

I stated the 2022 year model horsepower and torque. This 2023 has 375 HP and 398 pound feet of torque! A big upgrade for this all new model!!
That is just adequate for a vehicle this size. They should add larger turbos and push it to where it should be at around 450hp and 500 lb ft tq.

Most of the new X7s here are the M50I models powered by a 4.4L turbo V8.

Love your videos. Fact check though. The xDrive40i’s turbocharged six-cylinder now makes 375 horsepower (up 40) and up to 398 pound-feet of torque (up 67). Just got one. It’s awesome.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed it's a mild hybrid setup to give you the extra boost of torque when you put it in Sprint mode it gives you the extra electrical boost

Can you shut off the auto stop/start?
Yes I was going to say the HP is 375. I have an X3M40i with 382 hp and always wondered why 335 in such a big vehicle, The third seat is mainly for kids and very little space behind the third row but overall I like it. Did yours have the dynamic handling package?
This was a dealer car! I think it had the handling package because it also had all the M sport goodies, like suspension, wheels and exhaust. I think that’s all tied together.

No one ever mentions the tire spec for the 23” wheels vs the 22” wheels. I particularly want to know the aspect ratio to see if they are too low of a profile and may give an uncomfortable ride.
I haven’t seen a new X7 with 22’s, so I’m not sure the tire spec for that wheel if they have that available. But usually the larger the wheel to bumpier the ride but this X7 was very smooth!

How is the ride with 23in wheels? Was it rough ? I’m about to order one but I’m concerned that it will be a rough ride with the 23in wheels. I live in NY so the roads are not the greatest lol .
Felt super smooth to me! We have decent roads here. But maybe 21is wheels would be a safer bet just in case in NY

So glad that you did this video, I was just configuring almost the same build last night on BMW’s website. The only difference was that I am considering the M60i version with a two toned interior. It is a hard decision being that I would give up my X5M competition. It’s hard to believe that I could get all of this for less than I paid for my X5M. It is a very nice vehicle and I need something that will help me be more disciplined in my speeding but when you mentioned twice how long the SUV is, I am having second thoughts. Lol! It still needs to feel sporty. Great video!
That's interesting that your X5M Competition cost more that this!! It should have cost less to be honest! It is longer than the X5 for sure, but it's very easy to get used to, don't let that change your thoughts, unless you have parking limitations, it's not a huge difference, just something to know!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Thanks, yes the X5M competition was around $120.000 but I paid about 119.00 out the door. I will still test drive the new X7 when one is available in my area. I like the new interior and wheel choices updates for sure.
The length is just fine. You won’t feel the size of the car because of the superior handling. I drive a GLS580 and it’s a boat and it drives just fine, this will be better than X5m no doubt, better in terms of comfort and daily use

“It’s a little cramped but there is plenty of room”. Which is it? Btw, don’t be shy to call it like it is, esp. if you are trying to make it as a automotive reviewer. The 3rd row is very cramped, even with the front seating rows adjusted. Adults 5’7 or taller would most likely not be comfortable.
Cramped where exactly? Honestly I would be fine in the third row which is what I said. Maybe not on a long trip, but around town for sure!

At almost half the price, even the 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy is equipped heated and ventilated first and second row seats as well as heated third row seats.
That is true! That is a nice Hyundai! Doesn’t have similar power though, nice materials, but not quite like the BMW!

The new front end works here, but not on the new 7-Series. You would think it would be the other way around since this is just a new nose on an existing vehicle vs a brand new car like the 7 is.
Yeah I think with the 7 series it’s just too big on a sedan, works much better on an suv!

IMO, that chime, and key are definitely the weak points of the lci X7. it would've been better for BMW to have kept them as is.
Why would a chime be a weak point? The key fab is actually different and new as well!
Fair point about the key. But, it should’ve at least had an M sport stripe on the side indicating that it’s got an M package I know the M60I has it for obvious reasons. When it comes to the chime it doesn’t seem to suit the car’s characteristics. I think it should’ve remained the same in like some of the current BMW’s or upgraded to something that’s considered to be a bit more premium.

Not a fan of the 49” gaming monitor in the dash but other than that and the plastic parts in the engine bay looks sweet

Absolutely HATE the instrument cluster and dashboard setup. Don't like the front bumper/headlights either, but can live with it (probably replace with aftermarket bumper). I wish they had left the headlights alone; really loved the 2019-2022 headlight style. Currently have an X5, and with another kid on the way, I was looking forward to the 2023 X7. But this new style, especially the big tablet slapped on the dashboard, just doesn't do it for me; just looking at the tablet font/graphics theme, gives me anxiety! I'll probably buy a used 2022 X7, or try another brand altogether. Other than that, good review, as always.

I didn't like it when I checked out the iX and i4, but for some reason, looks great in the X7! But I do wish there were more physical buttons like the A/C controls, like in pervious models, instead of being in the screen!

Same! Such a disappointment for bmw. I loved the previous version of x7 and I simply don't understand why would they do that? The whole point of bmw is to look aggressive and luxurious, now it's just mix of Nissan with mercedes with all the details I don't like about those like the massive surfing board with what looks like outdated system. Have you used the new infotainment yet? Cause i didnt like the look until ive lived with it. I actually havent tried the X7 adaption and built this opinion in my IX though..... I get the looks thing of course but i like the way it works overall.
Yes is this car is very luxurious and beautiful but my favorite is BMW X3 if I could have money I will definitely go for BMW X3.

Can this drive on sand? My wife wants the ability to get a beach driving permit. We're looking at the Defender 130 too but for me the X7 is just better all round, and we really don't need all the 130's off-road capability but she insists on being able to drive on the beach!
I’m sure it can! How well it would do I’m not sure, depends on how hard or soft the sand it! The defender definitely has more tech to go off-road, but if it’s hard sand and people drive a lot on it, the awd could be all you need. But even an off-road vehicle could get stuck, so again depends on what part you drive on.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I guess there's a big difference between soft and compacted sand. As a daily for our needs the X7 fits most of what we want. I wish they offered some all-terrain tire options with 18" or 19" wheels and some off-road modes. Say like a luxury version of the 2023 Honda Pilot.

lol I can see a bit of that in the headlights. But this look so much nicer and very upscale.
If this wasn’t a German car the reviewers would have tore the interior apart. The material and the leather is lovely but the speedometer and 2 different a/c vents in the front are hideous. This is almost like the original Lexus RC, as if 5 people from different countries where responsible for designing different aspect of the interior. Wait until the screen breaks and you want that a/c on.
Why would the interior be "torn" apart if it was a different brand? The materials are very nice for sure! The a/c vents are a bit odd with the split design for sure! I do like the physical A/C controls that BMW usually has, so a bit different!
I was not a fan of the facelift for the 2023. The dashboard was the ultimate deal breaker. Super ugly. I opted to get one of the last brand new 2022 shipments. The msrp went up with the 2023, and that wasn't appealing either. Super satisfied with my 2022. I was determined to find one that I loved before they were gone

Too much tech improvement in 23. The LCI is once in 5 year tech upgrade. The 22 is now a generation behind

Divorced headlights do NOT belong on a luxury vehicle, it’s a horrible trend that Jeep figured out quickly thank god. They ruined the iconic look of the frontend, like the new 7 series it’s a definite no.

Okay. I am going to be honest here, I love this better than the current G80 M3/G82 M4, and because of how atrocious the front looks, you are all forced to buy it in dark colors (i.e. black or dark blue) until BMW re-redesigns it (properly) again.

I Really Hate the Screen and the all console as well as the new front . The 2022 is the last model I would buy .. I have no Idea why do BMW taking the approach away from being classy and luxurious towards futuristic and plastic. I just stepped away from the Mercedes for the very same reason. I Hate it and I think Genesis looks so much better !
Honestly I think it looks great! But everyone has a preference! Genesis is a cool brand! Definitely nice, but not nearly on the same level, but also cost less too!

@@BrosFOURRSpeed This or the 7 series new style just doesn't look good. Yeah designs are subjective for sure, but many more have same thoughts so I think certainly something has gone wrong.
@@Akash-jz2vf Any time a manufacturer comes out with a change, everyone hates on it and then months later start to like it! It needs some time for some people!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Recent BMW changes are different. Like the M3 and M4 grill, many still hates it. Lamborghini Huracan maybe an example of what you are saying, and there are many more but I can't remember them rn. I myself have did it myself, but recent BMW is different.

What don’t you like about this front end? I think it looks good!
Big and ugly. Interior looks too cluster. Hate the gears control set up. I rather the X3 that I currently have the the gear stick.
How is the interior too clustered? I think it’s a nice looking bmw!

@@BrosFOURRSpeed how'd you like the massaging front seats are they strong and has the acceleration 0 to 60 what are you think your best estimates with the V6 and what was your fuel economy observed
@@Maxwell1989 I didn’t test the massaging seats, but bmw has a good system for those. It’s a quick suv for the size and I only drove a few miles so I don’t have ownership on the mpg.
Super FUGLY headlight design
Not for everyone. But like always people seem to warm up to new designs. I really like it in person
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I take people need time to get used to the new design but this will definitely takes longer, it doesn’t look luxury and just like the new Rogue’s headlights.
@@Darkbaboon Yeah I’m sure it will! Definitely unique. Lately I’ve started not caring what cars look like since every time it’s the same. We hate a new design. But within two years we all like it. And when the next gen comes out, we hate it again and say the old one was nicer. So right off the bat I just like any new design because I know I’ll like it eventually 😜
