Thanks, Linda. It's very true that expectations force us into boxes and delineate when, where, and how we allow ourselves to experience contentment. And it's also true that sometimes we internalize those expectations so deeply that we don't even know we have them. My story: I was the first person in my family to graduate from college, and I created this narrative that my family-especially my parents-expected me to achieve far greater success (i.e., money) than I've been able to so far. I've depended on their support throughout my education and until recently, when I moved back home after working in Thailand for some time and was searching for a new job. I just got an offer this morning (!!), but my parents were never concerned or impatient or disappointed about how things were going for me. That was all a projection, I think, because it was easier or maybe more instinctual to believe that other people felt that way about me, when in fact I had those feelings about myself.
Linda Thanks I literally got the message yesterday to focus on rethinking my high expectations so this is all in my 📔 which I’m committed to using. So inspirational and glad all is well with you and family!
Nice video. Your example of the daily dinner prep expectation hit home. There are so many little ones: working through lunch/break at my desk at work; watching TV with my husband when I have no interest in the program because I think it’s “couple time”, visiting my family at regular intervals, advising my adult kids even though they may not need/want my advice. This is an eye opener. Thanks.
This was a great video. I especially liked how you paused after explaining what expectations were. Very powerful. Keep up the great work. You have my support
Hey Linda , really nice video! I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your video to reach to a wider audience .

Thank you for reminding me about journalling again. Accountability is key and I will keep reviewing all of my activities at the end of the day.
I’m not yet a mom but your message was still so helpful to me. I truly love what you had to say, thank you for this!! ❤️

I do struggle carrying all this pain for almost 30 years and I just couldn't let it go or I can't free myself from the chains of unworthiness 😢
