I get that this movie wasn’t the best of the franchise, but I actually enjoyed it a lot. One of the biggest things I loved about this movie was JA Bayona’s use of shadows, flashing lights, and surroundings, which literally added on to the suspense, thrills, and surprises. It gave everything a feeling. Plus, the intro here was perhaps the best I’ve seen from a Jurassic installment.
I thought the trailers were giving too much away but instead it was the opposite that the island rescue takes up very little of the film for how much the trailers emphasized it and I felt very ript off. And yet they still gave too much away. The first half of the film is mostly pretty bad or spoiled by trailers but everything gets way better in the second half. Jurassic World 1 is pretty consistently great through out this one is a mixed bag.
This intro alone could’ve been its own movie! The atmosphere, lighting, tension; all so great. And under water monster movie hat isn’t trying to be Jaws. I’d pay money to see that mosasaur movie!
Next film could be them trying to find and capture the mosasaur I'm sure out of all of the Dinos shed be the hardest to catch Like it's Owen and Claire on a boat with the rest of the crew Blue would somehow be there too And a child to make things scary
It's "psych", as in psychology, "you just got psyched out" like someone just messed with you mentally. I have no idea what a "sike" is, except another example that our education systems are beyond saving.
Raincoat dude's mistake was to stop climbing, both when the Rex had the ladder and once he was free. He probably could have made it or at least gotten out of range of the Mososaur if he did.
First of all, you don't go in the Jurassic Park premises, where dinosaurs are running free and loose, at night with zero visibility. Secondly, when your peers/colleagues/friends start waving at you frantically out of no apparent reason, YOU RUN. You don't just stand there and ask your friends to shout out louder than the helicopter engine such that their shouts will carry their voices at least a few hundred feet on a windy night and that you can hear them loud and clear even with your headphones on. You had it coming. If there was a Darwin Award, you probably would've been a very strong contender.
Strong agree. Like, if you don't run towards people frantically waving at you in a park known for its giant reptillian apex predators, then you very well deserve what's coming for you.
I agree 100%! The entire operation was terribly planned and timed ...and it was really stupid for that guy not to run immediately towards his friends waving frantically at him, regardless if he didn't know what for, instead of just standing there like an idiot saying stupid things. He also should have been armed with a gun or taser. But technically, I feel the guy was screwed regardless. The rex already had the drop on him. If the guy ran sooner the rex still would have charged him, maybe even faster then it did in the scene due to predator instinct. Whether he ran sooner or later, I think he was screwed no matter what. Maybe it's just a badly written seen. If a rex really wanted him (which it did), I feel it would have charged him quicker and ran much faster- unless it was investigating or weak, which it probably was. So idk. Maybe he could have made it to the chopper had he ran sooner.
I love how Rexy is sneaking up on the man, the lightning flashes make it so surreal. As for Mosasaurus debate about food and starving, she ate the pterodactyl I cant think of the other flying dino name, then had the Indominus rex within a few hours of each other. Possible she ate bits and pieces from it like a crocodile does, however the Mosasaurus can also breach water like a whale and probably took out some dinosaurs that got to close to the edge. I think that is how she survived.
True. After all, the director of The Orphanage (Juan Antonio Bayona) directed this film, and he wanted to make it a Jurassic World that is comepletely different and that has a different theme. However, it's not an actual horror since the genre is Action and Adventure, but I guess that's just the first half of the movie.
Austin Grossmayer I don’t get all the hate to this movie. I liked the new change with the mansion and stuff. Got me hyped for Jurassic world 3 of how there gonna handle the dinosaurs free
As someone who knows each film inside and out, I can honestly say that this is the best intro out of every Jurassic film, and the original is my favorite film of all time.

The Mosasaurus was the biggest missed chance in both JW films. He just appears, kills someone and returns to the water. Imagine how thrilling a longer scene with this monster could be, for example when a charakter would have to dive in an area where it is lurking, hiding beneath rocks, hoping not to get spotted - Jaws-vibes incoming!
I love how Rexy just moves that vehicle out of the way almost as if it was nothing xD. She may be old, but she's still a strong girl! Edit: What the- Nearly 1k likes?! I wasn't expecting my random comment to get this much attention!
Camp Cretaceous 3 sort of clears up some people's questions about how the mosasaurus lived so long in the lagoon without food. Season 3 explains that by saying it only had to live without food for 6 months and even then it could have had another food source we don't know abou
But what confuses me is how did the mosasaurus get out into the ocean and how did it basically just manage to live in the oceans for 3 years without any humans being attacked.
@@joevictor53 bro if you read the first reply you would know that the opening scene from fallen kingdom takes place 6 months after jurassic world this is information recovered from camp cretaceous therefore the mosasaurus easily managed to live without food for 6 months before escaping into the ocean
This happened six months after JW. The Mosasaur was free in the ocean for 2.5 years before it was even seen again eating that surfer. Ocean's big but I feel like someone would've spotted an animal that large that tends to hang out in more shallow waters. And before anyone gets pissy, I love the movies and the series Camp Cretaceous, I'm still allowed to critique minor grievances that can make casual viewing a little confused when it comes to the timeline.
The Mosasaurus was most likely seen before that, but the reports were probably unconfirmed and not taken seriously. It would be like someone claiming that they saw the Loch Ness Monster. There is nothing to suggest that the scene at the end of Fallen Kingdom was the first time in more than two years that humans have seen it.
@@jackhummer8344 The reports absolutely would have been taken seriously and been investigated, especially after enough sightings and detections. It's not at all like the Loch Ness Monster, the Mosasaurus was literally an attraction at Jurassic World, everyone knows about it, and everyone knows that enclosure was directly connected to the ocean. So once sightings of a giant creature swimming around the Pacific and attacking whales start coming in, it's not really hard to put two and two together. It's just shoddy writing for how in the movie nobody knew it had escaped for 3 years.
Even if people knew of the mosasaurus and reported seeing it experts in marine biology and such would very likely write it off quickly without hard evidence like a photograph. Not everyone knew of the mosasaurus either because it isn't like everyone went to the park when it was open and saw it in action eating a shark.
@@dark_rit If we were in a world where dinosaurs were recreated, I don't think many scientific professionals would entirely write off the possibility of a dinosaur escaping. Especially following an island wide disaster that left it mostly out of commission and unaccounted for. In our world today, yeah scientists wouldn't believe that a giant sea creature is eating people in the shallows. In Jurrassic Park world, they're idiots if they don't think it's a possibility.
*First Nedry was wearing a yellow raincoat when he got mauled to death!* *Then Georgie died in his yellow raincoat!* *Now this guy got eaten alive by a Mosasaurus!* *The Legend Of The Yellow Raincoat Strikes Again!*
The connections between this scene and the climax for camp Cretaceous are incredible, seriously well done stuff. However the scene still makes it look like the Mosasaurus’ lagoon was situated next to the ocean, and the maps of Isla Nublar from Jurassic World and Camp Cretaceous show that the lagoon is landlocked. Maybe the Mosasaur will show up in the ocean in Season 4, and someone like Darius will deduce how it escaped, but it’s still an unfortunate plot mistake.
Yeah this always confused me even before Camp Cretaceous. They never showed the Mosasaurus escaping the lagoon and entering the ocean. That's a pretty big thing to write off as happening off screen. What is this, Star Wars? "Somehow Palpatine returned"
That's what I'm trying to figure out after watching it again. Just doesn't make any sense how the gate led to open ocean. I didn't even see a gate anywhere on its enclosure in any of the earlier scenes.

Best in the franchise? No, not even close. Real good though.
hahah Hi Bayona, you're not fooling anyone.
@@ROYBGP they literally just said that lmao
I agree this does have the best opening in the Jurassic franchise.

Tyler Worsham to be fair, it’s pretty hard to climb-not to mention, risky to let go of a certain grip-while the ladder is being flung all about.
2:18 that was terrifying!

This scene is a callback to the first Jurassic Park, but it seems as though this scene is more scary.
Well the whole movie is like a horror, so that makes sense

One of the best cold opens I’ve seen in movies
Camp Cretaceous 3 sort of clears up some people's questions about how the mosasaurus lived so long in the lagoon without food. Season 3 explains that by saying it only had to live without food for 6 months and even then it could have had another food source we don't know abou
Plus there we're pieces of indominus rex in there
@@ChristianPoole27 dude he is right why you gotta act corny?
Mosasaurs were cold-blooded, so she would’ve been able to last for long periods without food like Nile crocodiles waiting for wildebeest
This Mosasaurus actually the size of large Blue whale and it can still hide well on the open and vast ocean
