      OVER THE AIR "UPDATES" simply means they can control what your truck does. I'm so over this overreach I've decided to buy a low mile 2007 5.9 Cummins instead of the new 25 Laramie I was looking at.

      I like everything, yes even the over the air updates, except the glow plugs. Glow plugs are just so in Cummins. Grid heater bolt could have been solved without adding glow plugs. That is goin to be a maintenance nightmare and a spare part to have to carry.

    for a Chief Engineer, his lingo is NOT a truck guy lingo. He said look down the throat of this turbo and look at the vanes. Nah, bro. That is the compressor wheel. The "vanes" are in the exhaust housing...and no mention of a different turbo.

      I think its funny they call it a cp8 when really the "internally designed update" is very likely directly the result of Ford working with Bosch to redesign the pump itself, The roller is larger now, that I know, and the body is now nicasil plated, the piston is a higher grade of heat treated part, the circulation path separates the feed for the body of the pump and the work side of the pump.

    To the RAM Engineers: The previous 2nd/3rd/4th Gen Cummins trucks was easy to get to the oil filter from underneath, I could put a ziplock or trash bag on the filter while on my back, unscrew the filter, and drop it without spilling any oil. But for some ridiculous reason you had to redesign the engine crossmember and completely obscure the filter, making it almost required to pull the air intake tube and or remove a fender liner to get to it. And you OBVIOUSLY knew it was going to be a mess because you so kindly incorporated a plastic funnel that redirects the spilled oil from the filter directly onto the track bar and draglink. 2 thumbs up! And you've also managed to squeeze so much crap into a previously open engine bay, its now impossible to get a engine-mount fuel filter into the cannister without weaving it through hoses, the intake, and still have the master cylinder encroaching. Now its guaranteed people will bump their clean new filter onto some dirty component inside the engine bay. Can't wait to see the obscene gymnastics required to install TWO of these filters without contaminating them, especially the back one under the firewall cowl. The previous gens had an outside top-cap for the filter housings, they prevented dirt from dropping into the cannister when opened. I see your new design is the the inside top cap like the current trucks, which allows dirt to get into the cannister. These recent designs weren't thought through at all. Did you guys figure out how to weld on front shock mounts to the axle, yet? Have you updated the track bar frame mount yet? The 2014+ trucks were a joke, little pieces of sheetmetal that flexed and eventually broke. Glad you guys finally made a tiny 3 pound cast steel bracket. Pop over to the Fords, you'll observe their track bar brackets are 20 pounds of cast steel since 1999 because they understood how critical a track bar was to steering. Other than all that, good lookin' trucks, I'll probably buy a 2026 3500 when I hand my 2021 3500 down to my son.

With the exception of the freebies, the dealership gives you when new. 1 GMC 2 Fords and two Rams. Most current is my 2014 Ram 6.7. Always been a stock OE guy “ Just leave shit alone and it seems to run fine“ no mods including running OE filters. The 6.7 oil pan indents up ⬆️ plus the height of the drain plug collar on the inside of the pan trapping at least a half a quart of old oil. This has always bugged. Probably doesn’t hurt anything but just seems wrong.

      It probably DOES make more power than the outgoing engine, but you'd have to study the torque and HP curves between the two from a chassis dynamometer. Maybe the peak HP gain of 10 advertised is not super impressive on paper, but they probably also had to limit the output of the engine to work with the rest of the truck. Especially the transmission. Cummins now advertises a standard maximum torque of 1075 across the lineup...better than Ford's 1050 on the standard output engine. HO Ford is clever marketing mostly and they don't actually perform all that much better than the SO Ford.

    • @Jay-me7gw
      @Jay-me7gw 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@BrandonLeech So is the 10hp bump for the cummins.
      And thats because the standard output ford is still putting down 475hp. A 25 hp difference is not going to be very apparent on an 8000 lb truck towing a 15000 lb trailer. A 10hp difference is even less.
      But also consider that the Powerstroke is making its peak hp and torque numbers at 200 rpm lower than the cummins. So while the Ram is making 25 more ft-lbs at 1800 rpm, by 2800 rpm its only making 806 while the Ford is still making 960 at 2600 rpm to hit 475hp. And 1010 ft-lbs to make 500.
      Either powerstroke is holding its torque out far longer than the Cummins can and so the Cummins must only exceed the SO Powerstrokes torque by a marginal amount for a very brief window.

    Not in Australia. Stellantis Australia have ceased importing Ram trucks over their warranty arrangement. Because RAM uses third party engines, it goes against local rules that the manufacturer of the truck, Stellantis, must be the backer of the warranty and also be the entity for any recall claims. But Stellantis says that it must refer such claims back to Cummins whose car engines are not supported by them in Australia.

      @@Pickuptrucktalk a Cummins with a grid heater hands down starts better than any diesel with glow plugs. ask any tech that works on diesels how awful corroded duramax or powerstroke are to service.

    Helical gears same problem Duramax will have,junk, glow plugs,OMG more crap to go wrong,and possibly ends breaking off, I'll keep my 12 valve

    This guy is a joke. They changed bullet proof straight cut gear for flimsy helical gear that will shred after warranty 😂 like that damned roller lifter and all that for reducing noise level 🤦. Just do something reliable

      How are the "flimsy" helical gears in your rear end holding up? How about the ones in your transmission? Yeah that's what i thought.

      @OtisFlint the point is that straight gear use for decade are bullet proof and reliable and way stronger than helical one but noisier . Just hope they wont break like the roller lifter
