    The trademark symbols are missing in the JP version because they actually don’t apply over there. This is a change done to Sonic games as well.

    The PAL English mode _not_ using km/h annoys me more than it has any right to

    • @Goober13md
      @Goober13md  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We use mph for speed limits in the UK, which I guess is what the devs had in mind when they decided upon that feature. Sadly Australia (and any other English-speaking PAL country that uses km/h) was either forgotten or disregarded. :(

    So... about Brazil having PAL as standard it really doesn't matter due to Brazil not having almost any internally produced or supported consoles so we just imported them from north america then we just have NTSC stuff here.

    5:30 *IR*
    I still have to hear any Spaniard* who actually uses that word that way.......... Btw it is the same in Jr, but in 2 it's YA instead...
    "ir" is indeed how we say GO, as a non-conjugated verb. The closest thing would be making it imperative, but even then, in the context of an announcer/judge speaking to participants, we always use "ya", which can be translated as NOW. If you use an imperative verb, you'll sound bossy instead (absolutely off from the game's context). But non-conjugated is something I've only heard in this series lmfao
    *I'm from Chile so I wouldn't be surprised if this might be some obscure "slang" Spain has, instead of being a translation that completely missed context lmao... Yes, I can assume that because THE ANNOUNCER does say it with good enough energy... Like seriously?

    • @Goober13md
      @Goober13md  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Between SMB1 and 2 there are some other differences between the languages. In Spanish "OBJETIVO" was changed to "META", in French "ALLEZ-Y" was changed to "PARTEZ" and in Italian "VAI" was changed to "VIA". There are probably some others I'm forgetting, but I at least remember these few.

      No, it's not a slang we Spaniards have. It's just the result of the translators simply doing the laziest translation job ever and no one else pointing out that it sounds wrong/strange.

    At 0:08:45, does this mean that it’s only Expert is the only difficulty where you can still unlock Extra Stages as long as you don’t use a continue on every version of the game
    In Ticket Blitz and Banana Mania there is no live system at all

  • @dextrodemon

    3:45 they don't use the ® (r) symbol in japan, so they don't include it, or i guess, they only add it to the western releases. same for tm obvs.

    > SMB with a Spanish announcer and translation
    Oh boy lets see how it is
    > "PREPARADO..."
    Alright...
    >"IR"
    what
    so for some context, "Ir" is the verb that you could loosely translate "Go" from...but sounds dumb in practice, and I remember that Super Monkey Ball 3D replaced that with "Ya!", which fits much more with the idea- THEY TRANSLATED "GOAL" TO OBJETIVO AS IN "A GOAL TO ACHIEVE" RATHER THAN "A FINISH LINE" WHAT IS THIS LMAO

    • @Goober13md
      @Goober13md  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In SMB2 they also used "Ya" instead of "Ir" and "Meta" for goal instead of "Objetivo". There were a few differences with the other languages between those two games that I can't remember off the top of my head, but it seems as though the translations for SMB1 are pretty subpar.

  • @bensmith2951

    See 08:36
    I don’t know where they got that idea from, it’s not true on the Japanese version of Super Monkey Ball that you can still unlock the Extra Stages as long as you complete Beginner and Advanced by not using a continue
    He purposely fell out at the beginning of floor 10, and went through the goal on his next attempt and he was still taken to the ending cutscene no extra floors, on Beginner and Advanced if you lose a single life you cannot reach the extra floors, this is the same across all 3 versions of the game

    The ™ and ® aren't missing from the Japanese versions; they were added to the other versions.
    Saying they are missing from the Japanese version is like saying artwork of Mario is missing from the year 1200.

    Can you just go to practice mode and play the extra stages there if you lose a life on Beginner or Advanced?, I know during main gameplay you can’t
    Just exit out at the end of Beginner Floor 10, and just go to Practice Mode and play the extra stages that way
