I like to imagine he got to a place where he thought he was too good for Penguinz 5. Then he comes crawling back for #6.
I figured that was during the Cult phase so hr missed it
@SeeStuDo That was part of the problem. He thought he was better than the franchise, and also a level 6 Starchild.
No no. He was in prison. They had to get Charlie from Penguin0 to play his role🙃

I like to imagine “Penguins 3, 4, and 6” is the actual name of the third movie, because it went through that much development hell, got released only in a bundle box set, and it’s unclear even after watching it whether it’s one movie or three. And yet, somehow in all that wreckage, Penguins 5 emerged as a theater-released hit that actually made money, and the general public just takes all of this in stride.
I liked Ryan back when he only had one cent.
That second penny changed him.
Ha.
Ha.
Someone gave him a penny for his thoughts and it's all been downhill from there 😔

No comedian is getting offended by people making jokes about them. They're upset when people threaten and bully theaters to get their shows cancelled, even though there are many people who want to see them. That's why it's called "cancel culture".
Woke people don't heckle comedians at their shows. They attack and threaten people involved in the production of it to make sure it never take place to begin with. That's why this video missed the mark.

As mentioned on their popular podcast, their several Netflix comedy specials, as written on their T Shirt when posing for their Time Magazine article photo shoot, and as a top story highlight segment on the most watched show on the most watched cable news program in the country.
Did you ever notice how audiences have been silenced as comedians just keep on talking? Where do they get the nerve not to laugh, even crickets make sound! Audiences, amiright?

You can both be censored by cancel culture but push through it.
@@PolitikPolitik-fh2qc If you "pushed through it" you weren't cancelled. Cancelled means career over. No comebacks. @oggyreidmore no precedent means anything here. There are many people the left attempted to cancel but they pushed through it and was fine. That didn't mean the attempt didn't happen. Thats nonsense.

this works even though the meme is dated because that's the point, brilliant
I think the saddest and most pathetic one gotta be jerry Seinfields stand up irl.
He complained no one laughed cuz "they were toio young so they were offended and are too sensitive"
Reality is he told jokes everyone already heard 100 times. So of course no one laughed. It wasnt offensive.
It was just lame.
@@eightcoins4401 I haven't watched his standup, but it could also be both. Comedy CAN be offensive . . . it just also needs to be funny. People don't mind being offended a bit if you can make them laugh about themselves at the same time. But if you don't get the laugh, then you've just insulted people to their face for no reason.
That's why being a comedian is a high risk profession and why most good comedians spend a lot of time testing their material to see if it will land with their target audience. Comedy requires humility and empathy, two things that are easy to lose with success.
IMO The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was pretty good about this. Midge is her own worst enemy when her comedy goes off track or she tells a joke that doesn't land or causes real harm.
@@eightcoins4401 Yeah. A lot of comedians pull the old "i'm too offensive for the younger generations, comedy is dead" BS - but in reality, comedy just changes as new people are born and older people pass away, and people find different things funny.
Comedy doesn't die - aging comedian's careers do.
@eightcoins4401 Not only jokes we've all heard before, but jokes that are just...bad? Like his joke about people scrolling through their social media feeds like "a gay French king". The world changes and I don't like it.
summed up comedians getting coffee in one line.
The brain starts losing neuroplasticity. People become more set in their ways, and less empathetic.
You become wiser and start seeing the flaws in the society, we all get there one day.
I like that comedians these days are mad that people don't think they're funny. Make funny jokes and people will think you're funny. Or stick to your guns and accept that most people don't think you're funny. You can tell your jokes to the handful of people who still enjoy listening to you, but don't come crying if you're unpopular, since you're the one choosing to not be funny
Most are too worried about offending the wrong person.
Ricky Gervais - who does generally seem like an asshole - made some comments to that effect. He said that comedians are wrong when they claim you can’t say anything anymore; you can say whatever you want, and then people can respond however they want, and it’s up to you to decide if you care or not.
@@coreyleader6206 Comedians can be offensive, they just also need to be funny.
Too many alleged comedians just say something offensive and hope it startles a laugh out of the crowd on shock value alone, then get pissy when people don't think they're God's gift to comedy.
There's one comedian, (Shane, I think his name is?) who tells offensive jokes on the regular, but he's *funny* so I don't hear from him a week later about how 'people are too easily offended these days', or some loser excuse like that.
@@grantsampson776 Everyone loves Jimmy Carr's offensive stuff too. The big difference is saying something over the top as just a joke to intentionally throw yourself under the bus for laughs, and saying it because you clearly actually mean it.
@@grantsampson776 Shane Gillies? I agree. Dude's hilarious. He's proof that people are fine with "offensive" comedy. It just needs to be done right. I mean it's not entirely wrong that sometimes the poor and uneducated are the same person. It's just not true a good chunk of the time.

Lot of truth to this. Good comedy has always about "sticking it to the Man" and speaking truth to power... which gets harder to do when you are "the Man" and you have all the power.
Yet somehow George Carlin kept it up until the end. He was the real deal.
@@thing_under_the_stairs That's because he was an actually funny guy. Even when he became extremely successful, he never lost sight of where he came from.
Also, his form of comedy constantly evolved and he never appeared to lose touch in the way some of these new "comedians" tend to do.
That's why I said it gets harder to do, not impossible. Carlin was the GOAT.
@@Antares2 I get the sense that Carlin was a lot smarter than a lot of these guys, too. I've read a couple of his books and he always had some sort of serious point to make under the jokes. He was never just about being funny, he had substance, as well as being funny as all hell. Chapelle almost had that, but then he started punching down. Carlin never punched down. He knew better.
@@thing_under_the_stairs My take as well.
I never found Chapelle to be all that funny to begin with. Especially once he became the "rich guy mocking the less fortunate". Who the hell likes that?
@@Antares2 I liked his show way back when. But yeah, any rich guy laughing at where he came from just isn't funny.
Plus I'm a trans guy, and I don't like being the butt of some rich dude's jokes. It's not that trans jokes can't be funny - my pals and I make them all the time - but punching down is just not cool.

remember back when comedians had to be funny enough to make the audience laugh? nowadays some comedians will just blame the audience for not laughing at their middle school humor
Oh they were hilarious.
Around the Civil Rights movement.
social media has allowed comedians to gain a following without really using their standup comedy skills, and thats really skewed their perception of what "good" is.
Not to mention, its inflated their egos.
Andrew Schultz, Bert Chrysler, Tony Hinchcliffe, Ari Shaffir, joe rogan, are all comedians who arent as good as their social media following would suggest.
Sounds like most movies. The actors/producers blame the audience for being "bigots".
I don't "remember that", there are plenty of good comedians out there. I'd recommend a few on Dry Bar Comedy like Arvin Mitchell, Jonnie W, and Kellen Erskine; and also Tim Hawkins if you like parodies.
When you're performing for an audience that wants clean comedy, you can't default to making people laugh just because you said the f word, or using shock value, or saying "people are too offended these days".
@@sarahberkner Agreed - although there are plenty of funny comedians who do use the f word well.

Comedians can be offensive, they just also need to be funny.
Too many alleged comedians just say something offensive and hope it startles a laugh out of the crowd on shock value alone, then get pissy when people don't think they're God's gift to comedy.
There's one comedian, (Shane, I think his name is?) who tells offensive jokes on the regular, but he's funny so I don't hear from him a week later on the national news cycle about how 'people are too easily offended these days', or some loser excuse like that.
The only comedians who deserve to be cancelled are
1. Pedophiles
2. People who break the rule "more offensive than funny"
And sadly hacks like seinfeld didnt get hurt by both.
I also loved bill burr's response to bill maher talking about this and saying "just tell them to shut the fuck up and continue making a joke" like yeah if people find you funny no one can take your audience away from you.

Back in the late 2000s when bakeries came under fire for not catering to gay weddings because of "religious beliefs" and all that dumpsterfire was going on, lawmakers were eyeing to craft anti-discrimination laws.
The right really didn't like it and really pounded on the whole "if you don't like x, just don't buy there, if they're so terrible, the community should support the gay stuff themselves and not do business with them, freedom and free market, and it's up to the businesses if they want to bow to the will of the people or go bankrupt".
And well, now we're here, people are banding together to say "hey, pressure corporations with x because we don't like y" and suddenly, that's a bad thing because they noticed oh no, the average american isn't nearly as racist, homophobic, sexist and bible-banging as they assumed.
