I love seeing this old Nova again. I remember helping Mike's brother work on this bad boy back in the old days. Still have a scar on my knuckle helping him with it. Many hot NorCal summer days in this car, and I don't recall the AC ever working! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane!
So good to see this beauty again. Mike was my brother in law. I was married to his older brother Mark. Boy, he loved working on and driving that Nova! Spent many days/nights wrenching on it with him. He taught me a lot! Great memories...thank you! RIP
OMG. This is mechanically VERY similar to my '71. LS3 TR6060, 9-inch, TruTurn, etc. I even bought it from the second owner since '74. Very cool car. Sad story but nice to see he honors his family with this.
Glad someone else has sentimental attachment to a vehicle. My son Aaron's 1997 Honda which he drove for a year sits in my driveway. Everyone thinks I am crazy for wanting to repaint it . Paint is in the gagage but age is catching up to me. My heart says yes, my body says no. And I owned a 1972 Nova which made me post this. I love doers and dreamers.
May your mother and brother rest in peace. Thats just awesome how many memories the three of you have in the car and youre keeping them all alive which is just beautiful. Right on man.
I love the way you treat the guests on your show. You are always so genuine and respectful and appreciative of every little effort they have made to create something unique. It's a joy to watch something like your videos in this time of endless virtual garbage.
Yet another fantastic video from AutotopiaLA. Such a nice Nova. Everytime I see one of these videos I wanna get out in my Nova. I'm on the way to the garage and then I remember I have a wife and 2 children and can't just jump in it and drive...
@@AutotopiaLA I'm building my grandpa's 65 impala right now. It's slow because I'm disabled but I'll get it done. How would I get one of those key chains and sticker?
They are only getting rarer and more expensive, I bought mine for $1500 over 21 yrs ago. ....I'd imagine if I were to sale it I'd take no lower than 30k.......considering what I've done to it!!!
What a story, makes the car very special for the young man. Even with out the story it's a dam nice Nova. Even has a dam nice paint job, drive, wash repeat. Sorry to hear about his losses he went through, but maybe when he is out driving he can just think back on the past owners and get a big ol smile, the bigger the smile the faster it will probably go. Thanks for the awesome video and story.
Killer Hot Rod, that can be driven everyday since it does not have the perfect paint job on it. Love the fact it is still in the family, a bit of a sad story with a so many great memories.
My first car...1970 Nova..I was making $2.10 an hour at a part time job..I made $25 dollar installments until it was paid off..in 1980 I paid $500...man I beat that car...dragged race any thing any time..one of my favorite cars..I miss it.👍
What an awesome build. Perfect stance, sounds killer, goes, turns and stops superbly well I’m sure. Condolences for all the loss you’ve experienced but no doubt they’d be proud that you have the car and with what you’ve done with it. 🙏🏼
@@AutotopiaLA good. DSE is developing chassis/ suspension for the foxbody. Not sure what I'm going to do yet as I want to keep my 89 GT convertable at "GT" Also looking at MM chassis.
Wow, My first car was a 1970 Nova, No Power Steering, No Power Brakes, No Air Conditioner, No Stereo, Just a AM Radio, Just a Basic Nova, and I still miss it, and I Remember, Especially when I saw this... Thanks
Mike, you have a big heart. And they say Nova means "no go" hahaha this thing hooks up solid. Love that stance and wheels. The battle scars are awesome. Enjoyed this very much 👍🏻
The Camaro and Nova sub-frames are the same aside from some mounting holes. The later Camaro's got updated sub-frames, in the rear the track is narrower by 2" on the Nova vs Camaro. That's one hell of long shift throw for something he autocrosses with. My shift throw is about inch if that.

'Street' Set UP.....FUN!...I have a '71...in Resto...i'm putting..Aftermarket AC in mine though.....lol.....Cheers From Canada!..
My mom had one of those too. Gold with a cream colour interior and a mighty 250 cubic inch inline 6 with a 3 speed automatic on the column. Always wanted to drop in a small block v8, but funny thing, my dad didn’t share my enthusiasm. 😂
I hate he lost his family. That makes that car worth that much more. If i was him they would have to dig a hole big enough for me and my car. Unless he has a son or daughter.
Such a sad story for such a cool car. Awesome vid man
The memories are what these cars are about. That car is strictly business. Badass!
Totally agree

A classic Nova Has the looks,Build and even history vibes
Nice stance. Love the look of a nova. That must be his most valuable possession cause of the family history.
Couldn’t agree more with you 👊
Lots of love to this guy. Kept his head up throughout all the challenges in his life

For me.... that nova is priceless because of the sentimental value... that car has SOUL 👍🏾😎👍🏾

Great comment 👊
The exhaust note is fantastic! I have always loved the 68-72 Nova, they are great cars.
Love the sound and the whole story. And it’s a great driver car!
This is the best build car that you've had on your channel. It's a family own car. And that he built the car for his needs not for someone elses.
Love the real world homebuilt cars... Keep em coming!!!
Me too! This thing is pure cool
This is exactly how a Nova should be 👍
I think we can all agree on this one!!!
@@trevorsanchez2470 yes sir 👍

Thank you so much. I love my hot rod family. Thanks for sharing, I learned so much. Nice clean daily driver and fun at the autocross.
Thank you and we love showing off this community of hotrods
Shaun you definitely put a smile on my face when you said no to an ls swap on the foxbody! Absolutely bad ass I currently have 2 91s
I love LS engines but not for our 🦊
The best auto channel I know! American Muscle 4 life ... Greetings from Germany
Heartbreaking story. Beautiful car. It’s definitely family after all you two have been through together.

I love the story of this car. Sad but that he still has it and drives it hard is awesome!
Apsolutly man

It’s so cool. And I love that he drives it and runs in auto x
@@AutotopiaLAanymore info on this car? I know it's a year later. Just love this video and how the car looks and drives. Wonder what gears he has.
Most underrated Chevy muscle car. My dads had 4 of this body style oldest was a 69.
No one seems to do these and I love em!
This is how I like cars, purpose built and driven hard.
Same for me!
Damn good looking nova
And built to drive!
Good story..glad to see after all the losses that he chose to keep the car around..good review!!
Tough story but love that he built the car he wanted from this
