    "No jew know that today" is a gruesome sentence. Almost a million men and women sang that song, almost all of them dead in the camp.

      This song was only taught to the men selected out of the train transports to do slave labour in the camp. Most Jews were sent immediately to the gas chambers upon arrival at Treblinka.

      No, sadly, no. Most of the people who came to Treblinka for "processing" were dead before they had a chance to catch their breaths.
      Only the "work Jews" were taught this song by the Sadist Kurt Franz.
      Franz served a jail sentence of natural life in Germany. From 1965 to 1993 he was behind bars. He was paroled for health reasons, and died five years later.

    • @dk4767
      @dk4767 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      its the same. SS-Man Kurt Franz was in Buchenwald before he went to Treblinka. From there he knows the song

    Inmate accounts describe Suchomel as "not among the worse" meaning not like Franz, Meitze, ect, , not that he "didn't beat us....they all beat us". You were left to infer that he didn't torture them, physically or mentally. His trial seems to have born that out.

    • @ronnie_5150
      @ronnie_5150 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Right. So he only beat people less, and murdered fewer people than the others. Well, God bless him.

      @@ronnie_5150 He denied doing either of those things. Whether he did or didn't... guess we'll never know. He probably did though, at least occasionally.
      However, throughout my research into the Reinhardt camps, it seems there actually WERE one or two kind German/Austrian SS men who really didn't want to be there, but their only choice was to do the job they had been given or commit suicide. Yankiel Wiernik (Treblinka) tells of an SS man who would guard them on work duties sometimes who told them he felt sorry for them all, and he would sneak them some extra food. In Belzec there was an SS man who could frequently be seen "sobbing like a child" in the evenings, another SS man who was beaten and humiliated by Wirth for attempting to get transferred away from the horrors of the camp (transfer was impossible - once you were in you were in), another who absolutely refused to work in Camp III (the death area), and one who couldn't take it anymore and was ordered to commit suicide by gunshot in the nearby forest, where his death would be recorded as "killed by partisans" so his wife could collect a war widow pension. I recall another one also who was transferred to a nearby hospital due to some illness (perhaps typhus? I forget) and in his delirium he broke down crying, told the nurses attending to him about the horrors of the camp and begged them not to send him back there. Wirth then had two SS guards posted to hid bed to make sure he kept his mouth shut.
      It really does seem like those Reinhardt camps... there were SOME SS men who genuinely hated what happened there but were trapped in the system.

      If you hear anybody singing this song you will regret being a snitch:
      Sturm! Sturm! Sturm! Sturm! Sturm! Sturm!
      Läutet die Glocken von Turm zu Turm!
      Läutet, daß Funken zu sprühen beginnen,
      Judas erscheint, das Reich zu gewinnen,
      Läutet, daß blutig die Seile sich röten,
      Rings lauter Brennen und Martern und Töten,
      Läutet Sturm, daß die Erde sich bäumt
      Unter dem Donner der rettenden Rache!
      Wehe dem Volk, das heute noch träumt!
      Deutschland, erwache! Erwache!
