I have to say I believe these guys were truly anointed by the Holy Spirit. Their lyrics were totally scriptural and their melodies were most tasteful and tuneful.
I was 25years old back in 1984 when I first heard this song and also More power to ya. I have loved these two songs and play them almost daily. The songs mean so much to me. my Wife passed away about 3 years ago. we were in this Full Gospel church when we first heard these songs. Thank you Petra for this glorious music.
This is the most spiritual song I ever heard, every word is inspired by the word of God, he has the voice of an Angel, Satan himself trembles at this song.
As a baby Christian I attended one of their many concerts in Houston TX, It blew my mind! It was The Holy Spirit that took over and their songs touched the entire audience. It gave me joy, peace, renewal. It fulfilled me. And it convicted me. It was when they sung Judas Kiss that my body, soul and spirit surrendered to His will and His plan for me was put in motion. Now I have a ministry for the Homeless. Is my calling. Is my life! Thank you Petra! God continue to Bless you! .
We played this at my best friend's funeral. He had led me to Christ and discipled a (then) 19 year old that thought riding a Harley, partying and riding in a M/C was the best thing ever. See ya soon Li'l Mike. Thank you, Jesus for that brother's friendship.
This just has something that contemporary worship music can’t touch. I am glad I get to experience this incredible music even though I didn’t get to grow up with it.
I have been listening to PETRA ever since their More Power To Ya album hit the air waves. WOW ! Petra "IS" not "WAS" still a truly GREAT assembly of musical talent to listen to. Petra ushered in an entirely new style of music for faithful Christians. Ground breaking in their efforts with musical talent that only God can bestow on people is how I would describe them. Their song list is extensive and spanned decades. I am glad to say that there is not a single song of theirs that I am not familiar with. I have all of them. I Thank God for that wonderful group of musicians known as PETRA for they helped me Greatly throughout my adult life. Their music still ministers to people such as myself. Forever Thankful !
I feel like same and have listened to them got a long time and stopped. I dont know why I stopped, but I'm so...i grateful to my oldest son for listening to the Holy Spirit and played them for me when i didn't want to hear it, and i haven't stopped since and it's helped tremendously and so so blessed everyday thank you Heavenly Father for anointing this band throughout its spiritual journey with you and taking us with them, thank you Jesus amen. If anyone from Petra ever reads this... thank you
I saw EVA O sing this song at the Lizard Lounge in Dallas, TX on "church" night aka goth night. I was backsliding and didn't expect the Queen of Goth, to be plating that night, much less that she would be playing a Christian song! I was stunned to say the least. God found me in the pit of hell and said I'm still here.
In about 1997 or so, I saw Sixpence None The Richer in concert and they started playing this song, and there was a collective intake of breath from the crowd when the intro started playing because a bunch of us instantly recognized it.
Grew up with Petra ( literally means Rock) and all their songs fill me with love - such incredible harmonies. Thank you for Providing me with Love through nostalgia today friend who created this page and shared ⚡♥️🎶🎸
I sang this for my church many years ago. The gift of the experience was learning the lyrics and taking them into my heart. Now, as I face death, I have peace and happiness in my heart. I can always bring this song into my mind, no matter what I face. I will know in my last moments, "where there's a shadow there's a light."
"Joy is not in where we've been; joy is who's waiting at the end." God bless you now and evermore. Thank you for your heartfelt comment. I played all the keyboards on this recording, and some 40 years later, it's very humbling to know that these songs have such a positive effect. (JSlick as "gingervytis").
This song reminds me of book Pilgrim's Progress. Thanks for uploading and thanks for your cool handle, UnknownPetraFan! I feel like its too bad that KLOVE can't even have a weekend show where music from the past is highlighed. Church has done very well in overcoming segregation on Sundays but the old AGE divide is tougher! I love great new stuff I'm hearing but its good to know some long hair guys who looked 70's had same Jesus I do, though I was an 80's Christian!
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. This past Sunday (July 6), we sang Come to Me, All Pilgrims Thirsty as our Hymn of the Day. It is #777 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship in the Trust, Guidance section. The lyrics are by Delores Dufner, OSB. The tune is to BEACH SPRING, from The Sacred Harp, Philadelphia, 1844; arr. Selected Hymns, 1985. Just thought I'd share.

I was raised Christian but now I'm Pagan. However, Petra had some awesome songs; well crafted and performed and with deep theological content. I didn't realize how talented these guys were back in the day...
You need to schedule a reunion tour with Jesus. Look around! Revelations is unfolding before your eyes. Only 2 places are the final destinations. Smoking, or non-smoking?

A Variation on 'Wayfaring Stranger' both in theme and melodic structure. A lot of people miss this, but it's basically the same song melodically with just a few chords changed.
I carn hardly believe that a Christian rock group would sing a song like this! I'm not fussing and I know very little about tha kind of music. But it just seems too soothing to be that kind of mjusic. It could put someone to sleep tshat might have sleepling problems.
I have to say I believe these guys were truly anointed by the Holy Spirit. Their lyrics were totally scriptural and their melodies were most tasteful and tuneful.
One of a very few real Christian bands
I saw them once live. There is no doubt in my mind that the Spirit was there. It was like worship not a concert.
Agreed mate agreed 🙂
Yes. Aleluia!

EASILY their most beautiful song! I want this played at my funeral.

Thank you Petra! I loved your music then and still do 🎼🎶💒
that's nice :)
This just has something that contemporary worship music can’t touch. I am glad I get to experience this incredible music even though I didn’t get to grow up with it.
Indeed, my friend
When I first became a Christian in 1984 I first heard Petra. I love them
THE BEST COMPACT OF PETRA.
I love the lyrics 'On thirsty knees the pilgrim falls'. It is exactly how I feel coming to God at church and when I pray
Wonderful song from psalm 84. Came to mind while praying this morning , loved to listen to it, thanks Petra
petra was my all time fav back in the day! these songs got me through some really tough times, thank you petra!
Petra more power to ya
Tanya Austin agree Tanya .I love these songs too.
Our kids grew up with these,When they moved put I missed hearing them so much.
We need as parents to be cautious with their music in the Lord that they like.
I was introduced to Petra by a friend. I liked this song so much I bought the CD.
Wow...just wow!!!! I adore Petra - the purest, soaring harmonies, fantastic melodies and God-inspired lyrics. God be praised!

Just found them in 2024. Experiencing them for the first time 🤩
Petra is a band that has been blessed by God
Awesome
Except they lost menbers along the way and the band Rush is more talented...
@@NintendoPsycho bands always change members and music is subjective... so this comment is ignorant.
@@weareresolutew.a.r.3643 ironic. We are talking of a christian band here.

One of the most Beautiful songs,Christian or Secular,of All time
Heard this song while a freshmen in highschool in 1983. This sobg touched me then, as it does still now
Saw them perform this in concert in Minneapolis MN the winter of 83/84
I saw EVA O sing this song at the Lizard Lounge in Dallas, TX on "church" night aka goth night. Thank God!!! He always finds a way...always. He came for the lost, and will pursue them until He brings them home. God bless you!
Growing up in California, I am grateful for KFIA as I was growing up. It is so easy for God to find a way.
This is a beautiful blessed song that I love so much.thank God for Petra..
I grew up singing to petra's,... Its food to the soul...

My dad showed me petra when i was little and ill never forget them. He used to sing this and why should the father bother every night
"where there's a shadow, there is a light" Wauw... hope that is true and the shadow slides away...
That is surely true - the light is always there! Step out from the shadows and you will surely see it!
Still to this day my favorite song of all time and probably one of the greatest songs ever written.
