My son listened to these guys in the early 90’s, was barley tolerating the noise, allways telling him to turn it down. He passed in 96, senior in HS 🥺. Months later while cleaning out his room i came across his Petra albums. So played them to see what was so special. What a ministry they have, I also like petra now.
I am so sorry for the loss of your son, I lost both mine, they also enjoyed petra, their mother was a contrary to God and fought my intervention in their lives. She is dead now.
I first heard this song in 1985... I was 5 years old. It's STILL my all-time favorite song. I am disappointed in current Christian music so I just keep listening to Petra over & over again. Can't remember who said it, but one of the band members says there is a sermon in each Petra song & it's so true!
This song makes me cry... I cried many years ago when I saw the selfishness of my life and I still cry. It is such a tragedy to just want to live your own safe life watching movies and eating chocolate, while millions are perishing outside. But luckily there is hope. I feel the Holy Spirit patiently drawing me towards His way of life, to lay down my own life as a blessing for others...
Absolutely. And if more believers understood its meaning, I suspect that they’d be as appalled about it as the Pharisees were at Christ for performing miracles on the Shabbat 😂🤷🏻♂️
Those people are wrong about Christian music being done bad, I can list tons of great bands/artists. Petra for one, Stryper, ApologetiX, Relient K, Newsboys, TobyMac (He's like the King of Christian Pop), Andy Mineo, Skillet, Lecrae and the list goes on.
Why can't 'they' do music well? Let your ears do the listening and not your conscience or mental cognizance. I don't understand your point of view... whacked.
I guess people think if it's Christian that it's not going to be as good as mainstream music and movies. If those people just give these songs a chance they might actually like it. Maybe another reason is maybe the recording studios aren't like many others in the mainstream music industry, I'll admit that special effects wise Christian movies aren't the greatest, but they still are in HD quality though, but they can't do a whole lot with a film because their budget is tight from the get go. Sometimes even the acting isn't too good, but the cast that PureFlix hire are top notch and even some of actors/actresses are also on other well known movies or shows. For example God's Not Dead had Kevin Sorbo and Shane Harper, Kevin well known for Hercules and Shane Harper well known for Good Luck Charlie.
Old Petra was really good. They were a bunch of old converted hippies. Rez Band was another group that was really good. Majority of Christain Rock wasn't great, but there were some bands who were actually really good.
First of all Petra set the standard for other Christian Rock artists. Their music probably reached farther beyond mainstream Christian artists simply because they had not only great music they were inspired as the message reflects. Bob Harmon & Greg Volz set the bar and I thank God for this group who I saw many times live and wish more people had the opportunity to witness the spirit Petra blessed us with. TY
Heard about this guy who was making a fuss at church, and so the pastor & elders excommunicated him, kicked him out, showed him the door. As he walked out of the church he found Jesus right out front smoking a cigarette, "What are you doing out here, Lord?" Jesus said, "Yeah, they kicked me out thirty years ago and won't let me back in either."
Im a complete atheist but in the 8th grade I got a chance to help them set up their gear for a show in Pampa,Texas. They played a Deep Purple song during soundcheck! A great song and a great message is where you find it and this is a great song and great message. You be Christian and I be atheist and we still find a connection.

This song was prophetic, I first got saved in 1979 served the Lord (I thought) but was only serving the so called church, and now stained glass windows is a perfect descriptor of the modern American church, the powerless, self serving, money grubbing sold out to the devil church..needless to say I no longer call myself a Christian, but only refer to myself as a believer....the church has locked it doors from the inside, holding the world outside, only allowing those who they think can benefit the machine to come in.....
find a new church. there are still good brothers and sisters out there. we are heading into the homestretch. repent and make ready, the bridegroom is near.
Sad but true Brother, but we should just follow Jesus, he is the true way, so no institution call church give you salvation, its true we need a church for praising god with brothers and sisters, but we should be aware devil trying going into churches
I find it quite ironic that this album got me closer to my Creator...and the church led me to apostasy. All will be settled. But not here. And not now. Not yet.
Before Moving out of my parents House, I had a Pastor from the Evangelical Free Church refer to the Church in 2 Parts, The ORGANIZATION of the Church-The Part you say has closed it self off to the world and sold out, and the ORGANISM of the Church-The Body of Christ, The People the Organization is trying to control. I agree with you, the Organization is making the Organism Sick. I also agree with some of the other comments, Find a new Church. Your old one is obviously not healthy. Such a well composed song with great guitar work beginning with acoustic and leading to electric. The Jesus movement during these times, despite some flaws, was very evangelistic and I think there was (and maybe always will be) resentment from the younger generation against the stagnancy that can occur in the Church and/or the unwillingness to engage the culture. Great song
