I had this played at my grandmother's funeral. She had no idea who Petra was but she knew Jesus and loved Him dearly. She trusted in Him and the power of His sacrifice to restore us to our holy Creator. This is such a powerful song highlighting the blessed hope that we have in Jesus!!
Perfectly written and gratefully played at my beloved husband‘s celebration of life service of 8-5-23. Thank you Petra for this beautiful song which glorifies God and comforts His own on their journey home.

I remember hearing this live at one of their concerts way back... This is probably one of the greatest songs written regarding His Return... Never gets old...
I am sorry to hear this. I hope that these words come to you well. I am just coming from a video about the death of Nabeel Qureshi, a Christian apologist who recently passed into the next life after his fight against cancer. I had actually come here to attach the link for someone who had mentioned the verse: “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” and so I am back to this song. This song has been very touching to me. You might like this: th-cam.com/video/eO1z-VQwOBk/w-d-xo.html God bless you, brother. Strive and keep going.
Phillip Barker - This song was played at my father's funeral almost a decade ago. It still makes me cry from missing him. I have never doubted that one day I will see him again, healthy and whole, but it keep me from missing him. It's not wrong to miss your wife. You're missing your life with her, the good times and the bad that you would rather share with her and lean upon her for comfort. Knowing we will see them again is a comfort, not a cure, for the grief of their physical deaths.
When my Daughter died after 5 days of life, this song and The Holy Spirit helped get me through. It echos the hope that Christians have in The Father for what The Lord Jesus has done for us..

One of the most powerful lyrics by Bob Hartmann. A friend of mine worked in a Sunday school with little kids. One day she had a call and started weeping because the caller told her one of the kids that had cancer died. I had an mp3 player loaded with this album so I ran her this song. The last lines ("those who sleep will be awakened" etc. ending with powerful "there will be no pain, no sorrow") comforted her because she knew what it said and she thanked God for that song (and so did I).
@@chadrasmussen6127 thanks brother. I just lost my mother also 3 months ago. Having a hard time. Keep my family, the Marino's in prayer. I know they are both with the Lord and no longer suffering so I have peace about that.
I had this album (on cassette) my freshman year of high school. I went to one of the few devout Christians I knew in school and asked her if she wanted it. She said sure but asked why I was giving it away. I told her it made me feel guilty. She said, "But that's what it's supposed to do!". Obviously, I wasn't living right at that time. She never said so, but I bet I was put on her prayer list that day. 😀
A family member sang this at my dad's memorial. This song will always bring that to mind as well as of a wonderful dad who was a wonderful example of a Christian father and husband.
We played this at the burial of my dad's ashes today. He pastored a church for 30 yrs, was married to Mom for 44 yrs, and was a wonderful dad. He used to read these lyrics at burials! We played it as loud as we could and toasted him with some O'douls---his favorite treat. God bless both our dad's in heaven. Maybe they're friends right now.

We all will die one day but those in JESUS CHRIST have eternal life. Death where is thy sting where is thy victory. Beautiful. Music and Lyrics your words shall last until the end of times. i have severe health problems and one of my doctors suggested that i write my will and plan my funeral. I was attending the same church as John Schlitt at the time and when i told him that grave robber was one of the songs i wanted at my funeral he said he would sing it at my funeral if i wanted him too.
Listening to this 2-17-23 I miss you Pop you were the best dad I never had. 2-25-22 will be a year since you left 💔..I know I will see you again someday..You'll never be forgotten POP ❤️ 💖.
I was introduced to PETRA when I was 13yrs old by my older friend. And, I have NOT ever forgotten their true songs of LIFE AND LOVE with God's ONLY Begotten Son JESUS! Who provided for ALL of us humans eternal life thru HIM if we would only get to know HIM now and forever!!!!
It's been soooo long since I've heard this song!!!! This was one of my favorites growing up. GREAT SONG and we're closer now than ever!!! Blessings and keep your eyes out for the grave robber.
I've always loved this song, but after my mother passed away in 2008 one day I was driving somewhere and put a Petra cd in & was driving and listening & this song took on a whole new meaning for me.
Death finally dies! Wow, what a lyric... Most people sense immortality while living, then see others die; then they hope to feel alive after they die. And Question why they were born? Death's been Man's downfall for all time and all people. Victory over it is not something you did, but given to you at unbelievable cost.
Hold onto Jesus with all that you have, and ask Jesus to hold onto you even when you can't hold on. Never walk away from God because he will never leave you nor forsake you. God wants you in Heaven with him, and also your husband is your forever brother in Christ. That is too precious to let go of. Praying for you.
This song brings home the enormity of what Jesus truly did for us. For a believer, there is no death-of course death does not mean cessation of life-life will continue, either in Heaven or in Hell. But Jesus made a way for us to choose to go to Heaven. Believe and receive Jesus today!
This song is awesome! I remember playing it alot on the air when radio station KYLO-105.5 FM Davis/Sacramento was a Christian format. Those were very fond memories. I was "Mike on the mike"!
Pray God give you Understanding... this is one of the most Powerful Christian songs ever written ... think on this if nothing else... and DEATH FINALLY DIES! GOD BLESS all who hears
I got to see PETRA at the Patriot Center in Virginia. They opened the show for the NEWSBOYS. Awesome message Awesome show. They shot lazers through stained glass windows into the audience. There were more unsaved than Christians at the show . In the middle of the show at altar call over 3,000 men and women went up to accept Christ
This is one of my favorite songs of resurrection. It says it so well by using so much scripture in a "Rock" version. I never attend a funeral of a believer without this song playing in my head.
This is my favorite song. It always has been since my best friend passed away at age 17 a couple years ago. It put chills up and down my body like, 43 times... powerful stuff. God Bless all.

I remember this song getting mainstream radio play in the 80s. A haunting, but uplifting song the likes of which only Petra could achieve. I'm not much of a believer, but I love their music and have all of their albums (even some on vinyl). That chorus. That chorus...
Well its 2021 and man how WE HAVE BEEN AWAKENED! Thank you! We are awake and now what they meant. We have lived through the hell. Drugs, alcohol, immortality. Put your heart back together! You made it! May the heavens be open to those who have LOVE in their hearts!
Still listening to this Fabulous song in 2021. These men of God have nailed the words of Life’s Journey to win the Prize after the Lords Victory over hell, death and the grave. Just like Brother Paul talks about.
This album was my only friend it seemed when I felt alone as a child and gave me comfort and assurance that if I have Faith I am never alone. 40 years later that seed that Petra dropped in me has matured to a Love for The Kingdom that this world can't touch. Thank you Jesus for the Sacrifice that allows us to be a part of. ❤

Dear Jeffrey Hastings, I know the pain is still fresh, when I lost my grandmother a couple of years ago, I felt like I went through hell because she was my anchor to God since I was a child but after pushing forward through the pain I have come to realize that she is up in Heaven and no longer in pain and that I will see her again. Meanwhile, I have good and bad days but when I begin to feel the struggle i try to close my eyes and look forward to our wonderful reunion and know that above all, God loves me and then I picture myself being wrapped by His huge arms and the Holy Spirit comforting me and I begin to settle down and sleep sweet. I will make sure to pray that you find the courage to push through and be victorious in Jesus!
Lisa Powell-Takacs, I just lost my beautiful Grandma on December 10th. She was such a wonderful example of God’s love. My Grandma had the extraordinary ability to love. This has shaken me to my core. I completely understand your pain. I thank God she no longer suffers, but I miss her so much.
I first heard this song in the 80’s. I didn’t hear it again until 2020, at a time when I most desperately needed to hear. You see, I got Covid and I thought I was going to die. The song starts out slow and sad, like Covid. Then it seems particularly bleak, but hints at hope. Then the song crescendos and victory emerges, which is what happened when I stopped being sick with Covid

We all will die one day but those in JESUS CHRIST have eternal life. Death where is thy sting where is thy victory. Beautiful. Music and Lyrics your words shall last until the end of times. GOD BLESS.
i have severe health problems and one of my doctors suggested that i write my will and plan my funeral. I was attending the same church as John Schlitt at the time and when i told him that grave robber was one of the songs i wanted at my funeral he said he would sing it at my funeral if i wanted him too.
nunmaybe nice!!!!! Dude same here
How are you doing now?
God bless you. :)
Listening to this 2-17-23

Listening to this good Friday, Quarantine. Happy Easter world and blessings
Dios por todos
i'm not a christian but i've always loved this song and the singer has a good voice
Amen I feel you
Amen
That's cool I believe in god and fear him I don't want to go to hell I want to be with Jesus
The first Petra song I'd ever heard.
I haven't heard this song in 40 years, but I still know every word!
The best Petra song hands down!
My all time favorite Petra song...I can't wait until the day!!!
I learned the bass part in honor of my late mother-in-law.
It teared me up as I practiced with it.
Very profound song.
One of my favorite classic Petra songs!
When I'm old and gray in a rest home, I plan to play this every day to all the residents to remind them that their life is only just beginning.
He will come back , be ready! Petra got the message out to those that did not always like or go to church, helping to save thousands!
Or even millions
Death finally dies! Wow, what a lyric... Most people sense immortality while living, then see others die; then they hope to feel alive after they die. And Question why they were born? Death's been Man's downfall for all time and all people. Victory over it is not something you did, but given to you at unbelievable cost.
Probably my favorite Petra song of all time. Watching for the Grave Robber to reunite with so many loved ones.
Losing my husband to a heart attack, my home, my pets, the only thing thats comforts me is my husband was saved & is in heaven.
GREAT song!
I remember listening to this in 1987!!
Still listening in 2020!!!
It's the only song that matters
thank you Lord Jesus
This song brings home the enormity of what Jesus truly did for us. For a believer, there is no death-of course death does not mean cessation of life-life will continue, either in Heaven or in Hell. But Jesus made a way for us to choose to go to Heaven. Believe and receive Jesus today!
Theres just God not heaven or hell
2020--and this is still a great song.
God bless Bob Hartman for he gave God the glory when they included all the scriptures that contains the truth of God's Word.
This song has gotten me through many many family deaths.

Now this is a classic! awesome Petra for life!
Bob is a gifted writer, an honorable man, and a good friend.
Yup
Grave Robber is a classic....
It would be nice to hear meaningful Christian lyrics and melodies like this created in 2024. Not happening, so I'm glad I can listen to this.
I never attend a funeral of a believer without this song playing in my head.
so true!
Amen bro praise the Lord
This is my favorite song. It always has been since my best friend passed away at age 17 a couple years ago. It put chills up and down my body like, 43 times... powerful stuff. God Bless all.
God bless
This's 1 of the greatest songs in the world!!!!!! I
Awesome song! I had the album and that's all I use to listen to. Great great band and the lead singer's voice is incredible! JESUS SAVES!
Me too, amen! I live in a chronically ill/disabled body, so i am REALLY looking forward to the incorruptable one!! This song is just...well, i can't hear these w/o crying! I'm so glad i found these vids this morning. God bless Petra, eh?
Ya ya ya
I remember this song getting mainstream radio play in the 80s. A haunting, but uplifting song the likes of which only Petra could achieve. I'm not much of a believer, but I love their music and have all of their albums (even some on vinyl). That chorus. That chorus...
Well its 2021 and man how WE HAVE BEEN AWAKENED! Thank you! We are awake and now what they meant. We have lived through the hell. Drugs, alcohol, immortality. Put your heart back together! You made it! May the heavens be open to those who have LOVE in their hearts!
Another fantastic song from an excellent album.
Yes, Yes It Is!
Love this old school song
Still listening to this Fabulous song in 2021. These men of God have nailed the words of Life’s Journey to win the Prize after the Lords Victory over hell, death and the grave. Just like Brother Paul talks about.
This album was my only friend it seemed when I felt alone as a child and gave me comfort and assurance that if I have Faith I am never alone. 40 years later that seed that Petra dropped in me has matured to a Love for The Kingdom that this world can't touch. Thank you Jesus for the Sacrifice that allows us to be a part of. ❤
2018 it doesn't matter if we live or we die .we still are waiting for you JESUS you are coming back soon you promised
One of my friends said he believes thiis is one of the greatest songs ever written , i agee with him. Thete is a step we all take alone when we pass on into the next life and stand before GOD. HE WILL JUDGE ALL OUR WORKS AND DEEDS ON EARTH. PETRA I THANK GOD FOR YOU ALL. CHOSEN VESSELS.
Behold the Grave Robber Cometh!!!
He's comming
Jesus said.."I am the way, the truth, and the life....no one comes to the Father but through me".........he is the only way...our only hope in this world...
One of my favorites!
Loved them in the 80s and still listen to them!
Dear Jeffrey Hastings,
I know the pain is still fresh, when I lost my grandmother a couple of years ago, I felt like I went through hell because she was my anchor to God since I was a child but after pushing forward through the pain I have come to realize that she is up in Heaven and no longer in pain and that I will see her again.
