      @8crafter ปีที่แล้ว +23

      For me RTX is not buggy at all, though my AMD graphics card is not the best so to remove input delay when using RTX I have to lower my screen resolution from 1440p to 1080p, and if I am using mods then I have to lower it to 720p, but even with 1440p I still get a consistent 144 fps, and I am using an rtx pack WITH heightmaps and fogs. (It is the vanilla RTX texture pack from mcpedl. )

In the latest Minecraft preview on Xbox Series S/X, PC, and Android you can turn on an experimental render dragon feature that allows you to turn on a new video setting called Deferred Technical Preview, this allows you play Minecraft with PBR(Physically Based Rendering) - Enabled packs, Its not exactly ray-tracing but it comes super close and it looks amazing and it still has the lighting features and block details that look beautiful. Currently you're gonna have to download a PBR - Enabled pack and there is no official mojang PBR pack but more and more PBR packs are being added everyday online and some of them are really good and its less buggy than RTX believe it or not!

    The problem here, is that Mojang and nVidia have dropped the ball in PR for this, and this was largely Microsoft and nVidia's baby to begin with. In reality, It's out of beta, still receiving updates and working fine. I've been playing it for weeks. You do NOT need an official world or their texture packs -- if you know what you are doing. The documentation on how the RTX texture pack formats work are out there if you search for them. With a little patience and know-how, the high-res PBR textures released for Java versions using shaders CAN be adapted to and work well as RTX packs. No additional modding (e.g., Optifine, etc) is required.
    What's not happening is new official content releases talking about it, or texture packs which have kept up with the changes to the RTX texture format. Granted, I've been tweaking the custom fustercluck of a texturepack that I use myself as the changes occur, so I've not had to care about whether or not new packs are released by some publisher or not. That being said, I am not the average end-user of Minecraft either.

    Super Duper Graphics Pack was not at all raytraced. "high end graphics" does not equal raytracing. Raytracing (in simple non-technical terms) specifically means the computer simulates light bouncing per pixel from shooting "rays" from the camera to detect where light bounces at.

  • @queteimporta919
    @queteimporta919 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What drives me crazy about Mojang/Microsoft is the hypocrisy they have inside their development management. As i remember "Super Duper Graphics" was cancelled due to technical problems and not being able to develop an engine that can run the shader pack even on low end devices like smartphones and tables, the "better together" motto of Mojang shines in there, it was a bumer but okay, if that's their vision of the game i'm okay with it. But then a week latter they announce Minecraft RTX, a feature that breaks those mottos and codes of the company and allows only a certain amount of players (the ones that have an RTX graphics card) to enjoy it.
    So, bussines and colaborations with external companies allow for the breaking of the mottos and ideals of the company? I didn't understood their reasoning back then.

The problem is, I recently got a 3090 and my fps is exactly the same! Doesn't matter what settings I use because my GPU usage is very low and it struggles to get more frames.

  • @jonnysmith549
    @jonnysmith549 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Im still so freaking pissed at Nvidia for scamming people with that "Minecraft RTX NOW with 20 Series Nvidia cards".
    I bought a 2080ti with Minecraft RTX as a main selling point. So i got the GPU and the first thing i hated was no Java support. So i bought the win 10 version (before it was free if you had the other). And finally there is the option to enable rtx.... but its grayed out because i have find a 3rd party texturepack or have to "make one myself" -.-
    When i found the Nvidia showcase maps at first i was impressed. But i really soon noticed something sketchy going on. Colored tone blocks are glowing, nether bricks with mirror texture and every showcase uses wildly different textures for different things. The way i enjoyed playing these showcase maps the most was by burning down the map and start experimenting with the features.
    The one thing that flattened me the most was the nether brick mirror in the light shadow and reflection showcase (if i remember correctly). The map was also good for experimenting since its built on super flat and in simple squeare rooms. When i saw a single mirror block i was impressed how far back i could see as detailed as in front. I was a little worried about the performance but as i found out by starting to build a mirror maze it has nearly no impact on performance. This is nothing like i have ever seen before. These flawless reflections were kind of gamechanging for me. Even an endless mirror worked flawlessly. Also the mirror maze killed my vision. It was impossible to navigate trough that thing. The reflections go around so many corners and you get lost behind the first one because youre surrounded by exits.
    Next thing i built was a primitive form of camera starting with a large dark room and removing a single block in the middle of one wall. The light took a few seconds but i immediately saw the upper green half of the picture and the lower blue on the wall opposing the hole. when the game was ready with lighting the preaviously pitch black room i was able to make out some inverted buildings, a tree and a portal i built around 10 blocks from the room. Lighting with RTX has been like that in other games but there has been no place to play and try out such things like in Minecraft.
    After that i placed some colored glass in place of the hole and experimented with different combinations. I love how it felt to play with dampening the light and fill a room from different angles.
    Praising these points there is the problem though. If you try to play with these features in a survival game you wont have the smoothest experience. At first there is no option to create a game with the textures trough the game itself. You will have to find the locally saved data from the showcase map yourself, extract the texturepack there and place it in the right folder. It will work but you will have more than just a few blocks looking... out of place. These showcase maps are obviously built around the specific texture packs. Every map shows some different things. There is no overall best texture pack because many use the same blocks for different things. There are just not enough blocks in Minecraft. You would have to add mirrors, colored lights and rework all textures, not just the exciting ones.
    I hope they are working on a real RTX update finally delivering what has been advertised. The deal was Minecraft with RTX. Not "look at this, now go back to your boring vanilla game". Bring us additional blocks and official vanilla textures. Not Nvidia branded marketing to sell their product. I wont stop complaining about this until they deliver.

    My impression is that only NVidia ever really cared in the first place. They wanted to sell people on their new RTX features and so paid companies to implement it. However, it became pretty clear that raytracing wasn't selling the cards (edit: lol can't believe I wrote that. It was a nice feature but this was just a marketing gimmick). They were selling simply because they were there.
    With no real financial incentive to develop it further, NVidia stopped caring as much, and Mojang went back to their normal updates. Mojang has made some graphical improvements over time but never anything like this. This move was pushed by NVidia.
    Because they wanted it to look good for marketing reasons, they locked it down so much that only people willing to mod their game would actually get to use it. Modding is a common practice for Java players, not so much Bedrock players. So, the community that would've given the most attention was sort of barred from using it. Furthermore, Java has competing graphic mods. None have quite the same performance, but some almost match the quality.
    Basically, I think it only existed for marketing purposes and that marketing has died down tremendously and so has the development.
    Edit: I should state that nowadays, raytracing is a more meaningful feature than it was at the time of this feature being released. However, I doubt the RTX feature made a meaningful difference in the sales of Minecraft, so my point remains the same.

    I think the main fail of Minecraft RTX is lack of creator engagement with it. There are little to no RTX packs available for Bedrock and with how they update that version so much, all previously made packs tend to break with a new update, whereas with Java pretty much all shaders are backwards/forward compatible with whatever version.

    The low frame rate on consoles is to be expected, since the Xbox Series X and PS5 isn't using Nvidia's GPUs, they are instead using RDNA 2, which has atrocious raytracing performance, and even for games that aren't path traced like Minecraft RTX, the consoles still can't really go above 30FPS, and 40fps with ray tracing for the leaked console version of Minecraft is already better than I expected in terms of performance. There is a lot of bugs with Minecraft RTX that just doesn't seems to be addressed at all by Mojang right now, and the main reason why is probably because most gamers play on mobile, and they seem to be focusing on bringing RTX to consoles right now instead of addressing the immediate bugs that Minecraft RTX have on PC. The Mojang team that works on bedrock just doesn't seem to be as well-oiled as the team that works on java.

    I'm so disappointed in Minecraft. ;~; I'm so disappointed in the game I grew up with, and I hate that. I'm not excited for its future anymore. I had big hopes when Microsoft acquired the IP, because I thought Minecraft deserved more talent and resources behind it. Slowly but surely, though, Microsoft has managed to thoroughly prove that they care only about the money they can milk from the IP. It's soul-crushing to hear the adorable devs talk about their dreams, their vision, their excitement for the game's future, but it's clear from the outside that Microsoft is selling them empty promises, that Microsoft will keep the carrot dangling in front of them until the cash cow collapses.
    Think about it. If Microsoft has a 2+ billion dollar IP on their hands, why isn't the project as well-equipped as some INDIE teams are, let alone AAA studios? Don't tell me it's because a smaller studio works better. It only does if you don't know how to manage a big studio or aren't given the resources--Microsoft knows how to manage a big studio AND they have the resources. Why couldn't you have RTX AND the Super-Duper Graphics Pack? Why hasn't Bedrock reached feature parity with Java, so that Java can be retired? Why isn't there an official modding API--other than barebones JavaScript API on Bedrock, which conveniently has only enough functionality to make products for the marketplace? Why do we even NEED Forge, Fabric, or Quilt, if Microsoft cares about the community? Why does MC Java perform so poorly that a SINGLE, UNPAID COMMUNITY MEMBER felt compelled to REWRITE the entire rendering engine (see Sodium)? How is it that it takes a YEAR for the entire Minecraft studio to produce what a tiny modding team can make in their free time?
    I can't wait for Hytale to come out. Hytale has had its own development woes, but I respect their reasons more than Microsoft's. Hytale doesn't have one of the biggest, most powerful companies behind it, so they weren't equipped to handle lockdown, plus they decided to rewrite Hytale in C++ instead of Java (which I respect, don't get me wrong). Yes, I know the people managing the team for Minecraft don't really have the power to change this, let alone the (probably overworked) devs. I'm a dev on a team managing the cloud for a Fortune 50 company which has a close relationship with Microsoft, so I know how these organizations work. But you know? The Minecraft team DESERVES more of Microsoft's money and resources. Whatever excuse they give you for why things are the way they are with Minecraft... it's a lie. A lie the devs themselves are often encouraged to believe.
    Minecraft desperately needs competition. Microsoft desperately needs competition. I'm so sad to see the game I loved as a kid being thoroughly milked and taken for granted. Sure, the spin-offs are fantastically made and fun. But they're spin-offs. They're not Minecraft. Maybe I'm just at that age now where I get bitter about things. I don't know. I give up waiting to be proven wrong.

    They made RTX worse over the updates. In Minecraft RTX Beta 1.15 your hand would stay visible when you enter water. In all the new versions like 1.21 your hand goes invisible when it enters the water while your head is above the water. I also want the player to have a shadow no matter if you are in third person or first person. This is all I want them to fix, it's not hard to do right?
