    If you’re new here in Canada, then choosing your first, or even second credit card can be a headache. There are so many seemingly great offers, with welcome rewards etc. But which Credit Card is really worth getting? And also, how complicated or easy is the application process? What about the eligibility criteria, and what if your income is on the low side? We’ll talk about all of this in this video! Leave me your comments and questions, would love to hear from you!

    You make excellent videos. Brim is one of the few cards in Canada that supports Garmin Pay. Thanks!

    You forgot to blur your last four digits 6:39. I might downgrade my BRIM World Elite since it became pretty useless after spending over 24K. The 2X on all other purchases usually resets at the end of the year but Brim used to have multiple offers when buying at Microsoft store and even at one point got a free year of Amazon Prime. Now its just mediocre offers but this fintech comes with huge limits and installment plans at your convenience so its really undervalued.

      Thanks for sharing that, good to consider those things for those consider upgrading! For now I'm pretty happy with the standard brim card.

    Hi, a couple of questions
    1. Do you earn points when using the Brim credit card overseas?
    2. Is there a fee to add another cardholder?

    I'm just curious did you lose some points on your credit score when you got your second credit card in Canada ( brim Mastercard ) with hard inquiry?!

    Thanks for the informative video! I was wondering what your experience was like using this card in Japan (any issues)? Did you happen to have a digital IC card where you reloaded it through a digital wallet (i.e. Apple Wallet), if so, were there any issues using this Brim Mastercard when doing so? I've been reading that VISA cards in particular have issues with reloading IC cards automatically through Apple Wallet, and Mastercard's are kind of card dependent.

      I've actually just used the card directly, didn't use a digital wallet. I just swiped it and could use it same as in Canada. What's important is just to register the trip dates, and you should be fine! When you get to use it in Japan, feel free to update your experience here, it would help others to identify and common issues.

      @@LivinginCanada I finally got around to putting in my application for the card. Just wondering if they requested in a follow-up email for a self-identifying photo with your driver’s license in it. It’s my first time applying for a credit card online so I’m a little skeptical and cautious. Thanks in advance!

    Hi! Thanks for this detailed overview of the Brim credit card! Just wondering if you have a referral code that I can put down?

      @LivinginCanada  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for asking! I actually don't work with Brim so I don't have a referral code. Perhaps in the future. Cheers!

    How do you pay the credit card? One thing I really hate about some cards here in Canada (I am new here) is that if I dont have an account with a bank which owns the card company, you have to push payments from a different bank (and not pull from the creditcard website). I hit this with capital one. I cannot setup autopay because of this. Every month I have to push the statement amount from a different bank.
    Does Brim allow you to setup autopay?

    • @LivinginCanada
      @LivinginCanada  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right, you would usually need to do it manually. At least that's what I do, I manually transfer the amount from my other bank. So far I haven't seen autopay to be possible cross-banks. But there is a plus though for doing it manually. It forces me to really look at the amount and identify and mistakes (or overspending ;D). But you're right, it's extra work. What I believe you can do is set up auto-payment from your bank to the credit card. It would be a fixed amount though (which doesn't solve the problem) since it can't pull the exact due amount.

    i’m going to South East Asia for 3 months and was planning on using my Brim card there. Do you know if Brim cards work in places like indonesia, thailand, vietnam, etc?! I tried looking it up but didn’t find much information

      Went to Singapore and no issues !!

    • @LivinginCanada

      I used my Brim Card in Japan and it worked fine. However, you need to register your travel dates in your brim account. That way the company knows you're planning to use it on so and so dates and won't be detected as fraud. I don't see any reason why you can't use it in South East Asia, anywhere they accept mastercard. Hope this helps!

    All I really wanted to know is how use this card in retail stores without a physical card. But, she didn't use it that way and was lucky enough to get a physical one in the mail. They never mailed me one, and last time I asked them they sent it's a virtual card only. I just use it for online purchases in US funds so far.

      I can't remember how long it took as it's been a while ago. Have you received an approval? If it has been approved it should be within 10 business days, usually. But just try and contact them.

    They updated their terms. They are now going to charge 1.5% ftfs and nerfed the cashback by half.

      The part on the Amazon points and annual fee, yes. The rating of the card may of course have changed.

      @@LivinginCanada Would you recommend this card for South East Asia and East Asian Trips like Japan and Philippines? Or do you recommend any card that I might find worth checking into?
