  • *UPDATE - March 17, 2024 - BRIM is adding a 1.5% foreign transaction fee and you will now only earn 1 point for every TWO dollars spent (up for 1 point for ever dollar). Huge disappointment and I will be looking for another option for travel cards going forward.*
    Short - • BRIM Mastercard, HUGE ...
    This is a full and honest review of the BRIM financial Mastercard which is one of the only true no foreign transaction fee cards available to Canadians. I hope this helps you make your decision on whether or not to get this card as a traveller! *This video is NOT sponsored but I do have a referral code below which is given automatically to everyone who gets a BRIM card*

    They updated their terms. They are now going to charge 1.5% ftfs and nerfed the cashback by half.

      Yup, I just made a short about this and updated the description of this video. I'm super disappointed. Will be looking for alternatives for sure!

    Thank you so much. I already have a Brim card which I have used in the UK and Europe (I too am from Canada). My only issue was understanding how to redeem rewards and you have cleared that up nicely. Again thanks.

      Glad this helped! It took me awhile to figure out the redemption thing, it was a bit frustrating!

    Hi Brittany! The wealthsinple cash account comes with an optional prepaid MasterCard. It's not a credit card but very close! It also has no FX fees, 1% cashback and you also earn 4% interest in your cash account, compounded monthly. There are no fees :) something to look into if you're curious 😊

      Ooh good to know! I'll have to look into that.

      Hey Bro, I checked out the wealth simple card and yes it does not have any fx fees. Thanks for letting everyone know as we think thats its only 2 no fee annual credit cards which offers no fx fees.
      However, I would suggest to stay away from this card after doing some reearch as for the only reason that the 1% cashback does not apply if you make a fx transfaction. On this point then its just better to go with home trust card as it had the same mechanics with NO 1% back on fx transactions, but can be used to build credit and is a normal credit card.
      Also, its best to have the brim at first as it gives 1% on fx transactions, with many perks but only thing to worry is that many people are getting rejected for this even after having a high 800 credit score. Yes one of them its me, tried and tested, and i see the reviews of the same that people with high credit score gets rejected. The rejection email says thati can re-apply back after 6-8 months, it has already been 5 months and i will soon apply for the brim again. Hopefully its approved now, but if not I will stick with home trust as my alternative and I am 100% sure to be approved for that.

    Better update about this credit card now since as a new cardholder for world elite mastercard, it’s a slap in the face to me

      There's an update in the description. Yeah, very disappointed but I'll keep using it in the interim since the ftx fees are still 1% lower than my other CCs. Now to find a new card...

    Nice video . I have HSBC world elite however the Government approved the sale to RBC and don’t thinking they will keep no forex perk. I was researching the brim review and this came up.

      Thanks! I've been using it for nearly a year abroad now and it's fantastic. The best card I own next to the RBC world elite WestJet card (but I only use that for Canadian purchases).

    Hey Brittany, I applied the Brim Card again using your referral link, after getting declined for the first time. I just got an email 2 minutes ago that the application is approved and card is on the way. Your referral code is very lucky for me. Hopefully, you receive the bonus soon and get some free gifts!! 😊

    Hey Brittany, can you make a video on redeeming the brim rewards, as for most of us, its very confusing. Much appreciated if you can help us

      Hello! I've included how to redeem points on the mobile app in this video. You just swipe left on the transaction and hit redeem. On a laptop/desktop web page you click on the transaction I believe and do the same thing. I hope that helps!

    Hi Brittany you mentioned that in NZ businesses are mostly cashless? for travel is it still advisable to go "old school" and get NZ currency from the bank for travel? or US currency? Thanks for the credit card recommendation. I may consider.

    • @brittanymorgan09
      @brittanymorgan09  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely do not get much cash for travelling to NZ. Almost every business prefers card and some will not accept cash. They also charge an extra 2-5% fee to use what they call paywave (which is called tap in Canada) and all credit cards. You're kind of screwed either way lol, it's best to have a mix of some cash for emergencies and a CC for everything else though you will pay more at some retailers to use credit.

    how do get No Foreign Transaction Fee with Credit Cards

    • @brittanymorgan09
      @brittanymorgan09  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Only certain credit cards offer this, there's only a handful in Canada that don't have foreign transaction fees outside of the US. Reading through the fine print on their websites will tell you if it's a true no foreign transaction fee card or if it's limited to certain countries. I hope this helps!
