Hey Prince of Travel, another question for you. Would you be open to doing a review of some of your subscribers current credit card situations & possibly offer your suggestions and opinions on how they can optimize their credit card portfolio? I'd be happy to provide you details on my end and get some of your expertise to help you make a video on it.
Traveling to Canada soon as a student, Came here to learn if there is any specific benefit in a particular card or so. A piece of advice would give me a perfect kickoff
I came as a student too. The first priority should be to opt for a card which has no annual fee and gives you some cash back on groceries and purchases but at the same time builds credit score. I used two cards at that time. One is Cibc dividendVisa and the other was PC Optimum Mastercard. But the divdent wasn’t the best option, but you can replace that with another visa which offers better rewards. PC gives lot of rewards on groceries and fuel purchases, it’s a no brainer on my opinion. Within a year I reached 720s on score and financed a car under 7% interest .
Hi Ricky, I collect as many MR points as a can but roughly 50% of merchants in Toronto do not accept AMEX. In those situations, I'm torn between using my RBC Avion or my TD Aeroplan. Could you please post a video comparing the benefits of collecting points from aeroplan visa vs an RBC avion visa and whether it's better to pool all points under the AP ecosystem or to diversify? Thank you and keep up the great work.
I'm no expert but if the earning rates are the same than I think RBC points are more valuable, especially when they have their sales to convert to British Airways Avios at 1.5-1 or 1.3-1.. opens up that Oneworld alliance...
If I had TD's FCT more than 12 months ago and PSed to another card, can I PS again to FCT and get its bonus? (An agent told me NO in this particular case... I suspect he is wrong.)
I just want TD, RBC or AMEX to offer an Aeroplan or MR points no foreign transaction fee card...I spend about a grand a month in the States and use the Scotia Passport..I'd love to have 65k of those other points instead of the Scotia rewards I've collected...
@@PrinceofTravel yes been debating that, I look at the passport like a 2-2.5c cashback+Scotia points but it's coming up for renewal soon so might switch to something else...
Those rules are for dropping or give up of a card, meaning discontinue the use of that card number. Or it means upgrading, meaning you keep the card, but just change to a new plan. If is not upgrading what are the rules for upgrading, in other words, for how long do we have to stay in a plan before being able to upgrade and then downgrade to later upgrade again.
Hey Ricky! Love the content just one quick question. If I sign up for the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card and use it, then downgrade to the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Platinum* Card or TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card. And then upgrade back to the Infinite Privilege card, would I still be eligible for the signup bonus?
Have you ever heard that disability benefits don't count as income for the purposes of applying for a credit card? I'm on Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disabilities (SAID) and that was what I was told by a bank that as I don't get T4 slips (I get T5007s) that I couldn't apply. Makes me feel discriminated against but maybe the branch manager at Scotiabank is onto something though (and I just took it personally)? I had asked for the lowest credit limit and he didn't even look at my credit score (or even put in an application) before denying me for my first credit card. I know in the United States the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau says: "A card issuer cannot discriminate against you because you receive public assistance income. Like all other forms of income, the issuer can consider the likelihood that the income will continue in evaluating your creditworthiness. A card issuer may consider issues relating to, for example, whether you will continue to meet the eligibility requirements for receiving benefits." www.consumerfinance.gov/ask-cfpb/can-a-card-issuer-consider-whether-i-receive-government-assistance-when-deciding-whether-to-issue-a-credit-card-to-me-en-21/ I am wondering is the same would apply in our country? I think it all should be based on merit of repayment ability and not the source of income itself.
If I have a supplementary card on my wife’s account can I sign up for my own account and still get the sign up bonus? The eligibility rules for Scotia bank seem pretty unclear on this aspect.
HSBC 12 month rule: is it for new applications only - or product switches as well? Would be nice to be able to product switch and get the bonus without waiting 12 months in between..
I have TD aeroplan infinite VISA for several years. In order to get welcoming bonus can I open same card with keeping current one or I have to cancel first current card then apply new one? That is not clear for me.
Should I be cancelling my TD credit card after receiving all possible bonuses and then reapplying after a year to get start up bonuses again or putting the card on hold?
Wait so TD is really that generous? I have a TD APVI on first year free, so next year before it renews I should just cancel it and apply for it again (and potentially get another FYF)?
@PrinceofTravel I recently discovered your channel, have subscribed, and have been binging your videos. Thanks for all your great work. I just have one quick question. is it possible to get the welcome bonus on both the TD & CIBC Aeroplan visa infinite cards or can you only get one?
Aeroplan has made an announcement recently, one cannot get the welcome bonus on more than 1 aeroplan card. So while their system may not have caught on, it is advised not to do so. We want to have a healthy long relationship with aeroplan
Hey Ricky. Would you be open to sharing your gear you use for videos? I can see that your new videos are very well made and packaged. Just would help some other people who are looking for ideas for their youtube channels.
On Scotia bank I’ll have to agree how random it is. With me and friends both having only a scene Card (0 AF), I received welcome bonus for Scotia Amex Gold while my friend didn’t.
That's weird. I was in the same boat. Asked a financial advisor and they said no, I won't be eligible. How did your friend get it? Did he ask or did the points just show up?
Hey Prince of Travel. Had a question for you. You previously mentioned that you should never get rid of your longest credit history cards. Well I've managed to hold onto the same RBC credit card for nearly 20 years & have a 35k credit line on it. I only have one card with RBC but I was thinking of doing a product switch to capture some of the sign up bonuses. One thing I noticed was that the product switches only offer 50% of the sign up bonus. Should I even bother doing a product switch with this card for an inferior bonus or just open up a new card? Possibly with TD?
@@PrinceofTravel I called and inquired about switching to the rbc Avion, and they would only provide me with half of the sign up bonus, not the full amount.
Literally just signed up for another rbc card and got the welcome bonus. After acquiring all the points within the 6 month time frame I'm going to product swap it to a zero annual fee card and keep my infinite avion. Free points 😁 After that I'm unsure of what to do to keep churning. Any insight?
If you get the 35K points from Avion Visa Infinite, are you sure after 90 days if you apply for Avion Visa Platunum, you will still get another 35K? No matter on their website or talking to their representative, both said you cannot get another 35K. Can you verify this data point Ricky? Thank you.
You mentioned a couple of times in the video that you would get the welcome bonus even if you were switching cards rather than applying for a new card. That’s never been my experience. I’ve dealt with almost all the banks, and most every time the card switch means you were not entitled to the welcome bonus. They always insisted that the welcome bonus can only be awarded if a new credit line is opened. Can you clarify more on which banks/cards will give you the welcome bonus even if you’re just switching from another card at the same bank?
@@freddytang2128 This is actually not always the case. It depends on the promotion. But yes, most of the time they do honour it. Always call and ensure their verbal confirmation. Source: I too used to work for TD and was an avid promoter of churning to clients :)

Hey Prince, I am a little confused about Amex's lifetime rule, so if I have their cobalt card does it mean if I upgrade to the platinum I won't get the sign up bonuses?
Does that mean that you could keep getting the welcome bonus and first year fee waiver by cancelling after the first year and reapplying every year for TD cards?
It’s possible if you have a present relationship with the bank for someone at the branch to advocate on your behalf and potentially push it through. Many issuers don’t care to verify your income on your application (but I wouldn’t suggest lying on your application).
So if I currently have a TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite that I opened more than 12 months ago, I can cancel it and the re-apply to get the welcome bonus again?
Unfortunately, according to TD's Terms & Conditions, only new card members, or with similar wordings, are eligible for the Welcome Bonus. Please don't go re-applying for cards :) Banks know and simply chose not to deal with them in the past, but it has all changed now. Some cases even resulted in Aerolan closing some abusive accounts.
