Very Cool !!!! We have been looking into getting a vintage camper ourselves. Nice to know the S10 pulled it well. As i have recently sold my full size truck & got a square body S10 myself.
I had two of those 85 Jetta’s one gas and one NA diesel. Crashed both of them in the snow. My dad had an 84 turbo diesel and it would smoke my 85 N/A. All of the diesels went over 300,000 miles before they had major issues or got crashed. Neat to see the old school S10. I drooled over those things my whole childhood.
99% of all s10 graphics were dealer installed. The Iron Duke isnt worth trying to supe up or turbo, especially if you want to do some light towing. It would be cool if you could find the 2.2 Isuzu diesel engine that came in first gen S10s and throw in it with a 5 speed out of a 87-93, preferably a 93 because that would be a world class transmission that is a little stronger. Only down side is 93 has electronic speed sensor but can be swapped out with older T5 parts.
Some very cool acquisitions.. How would an iron Duke work with a turbo and 10 lbs of boost? An LS motor and beefed up auto would definitely take care of towing issues.. You guys take care and be safe...
