  • Its a classic B&M coaster, but sometimes gets mixed reviews. Love it or hate it, there's no denying Raptor is one beautiful ride! This is my review!

    I absolutely love raptor. It was my first inverted coaster ever, at 10 yrs old so it holds a special place in my heart. The last time i rode it when i was 15 it was still a smooth ride, but i haven’t rode in 8 years. Maybe its rougher now

    Raptor has been kicking a$$ since it's debut. I remember riding it at 10 years old in 1994 and stumbling off in amazement. My love for roller coasters started with the Wild Cat and the Iron Dragon (I was in elementary school) then growing into the Gemini, Magnum and Raptor coasters got me hooked for life.

    this coaster has allot of meaning to me. its my dads all time favorite coaster and he cant ride them any more due to heart problems. he also loves to talk about how smooth this ride is. he did complain about his ear rings the first time he road the ride but after removing them life was good!

    I went to CP for the first time ever on Sunday, and rode this not expecting that violent ending into the final break run, and that honestly was pretty brutal. Almost felt like a car crash, lmao. Overall great coaster though, enjoyed it a ton. Rode it in the back row too, so I couldn't see anything coming, and I loved it.

    When I first started going to Cedar Point, this thing scared me to no end. I didn't like the noise, and it just seemed way too intense. After riding it more and more, I've grown to love it. This thing is easily one of the most intense and forceful roller coasters at Cedar Point, and like you said, if you keep your head forward it completely eliminates the head banging. When they repainted it, I just gained a whole new appreciation for it. Easily one of the best (and probably more underrated) coasters at the park.

    For being one of the very first B&M inverted coasters, built back in 1994, this is an awesome ride :) Even after 23 years, Raptor is one of my favourite inverted coasters ever. Keeps the intensity, and powers through all those awesome inversions :) B&M did a great job with this ride, I'll say that :)

    It was my faforite overall when I went in 2012, I went again June this real and really felt I missed out not getting on again, but I was extremely tired that day from nightmares the night before, and depression picked then to prod at me on top of that. It took me til I was 23 to ever get on a coaster for some reason, but I been bit by the bug and coasters like this keep me hooked and give me a ride to look forward to always.

  • @SuperSaiyanGokuX
    @SuperSaiyanGokuX 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Let me start off with the disclaimer that Raptor is my favorite ride in the park.
    And it has been my favorite for its entire 23-year life. Heck, I had a CP promotional calendar-poster that featured the ride on the wall of my bedroom even *before* I had ever ridden it (my uncle worked for the print shop that printed them up before its opening season, and he got to take some)
    Anyway, because CP is my home park (half hour away), I have ridden this coaster at *least* once per year for over two decades (most years I ride it more than once, of course, but because there have been a handful of years that I didn't get a chance to go to the park, I guess it averages out to once or twice per year...)
    So, all of this is to say; I speak from experience.
    When she was younger, she was super smooth, but the ride is definitely showing her years. It is noticeably rougher now than it used to be. However, I would not call it a rough ride. It's nowhere near as bad as Mantis/Rougarou (I don't like either incarnation), and aside from that final hard snap into the pre-station brake run, it never bangs my head around. (though I do tend to naturally ride it with my head forward, and not resting against the seat)
    That final stop, though, *is* fairly harsh. I swear it also used to be much smoother/gentler, instead of the slam it is today, but maybe that's the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia having an effect.
    I think that negative impressions of the ride might be coming from people who are used to riding newer steel coasters that haven't lost their smoothness (for other B&M examples from the park, Gatekeeper and Valravn are both still ultra-smooth, but once they have a decade or two on them, they'll probably be just as "rough" as Raptor)
    All in all, I say she's a fantastic ride. Not as nice as she used to be, but still a great coaster!

  • @ileeglaraton5610
    @ileeglaraton5610 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    We were so lucky. We only had half a day to go to CP, and I’m 10 hours away, but it was 115 degrees outside so nobody was there so the only rides with lines longer than fifteen minutes were TTD, Valravn, and steel vengeance.

    Finally rode this on 9/14/19 on my second trip to Cedar Point. I thought it was a great ride, loved the intensity of that double helix. HATED the transition into the brake run, that just flat out hurt. But, the rest of the ride is solid and a lot of fun, and I will be riding it again when I go back.

    Raptor intensity depends on the strength of its break run. I was (un)fortunate enough to once get a break-less second half and it was a completely different beast. Legs felt like they were about to explode, head-banging (especially on the station entry) was present too. The other 20 or so times I've ridden it, I've not experienced that.

    I really like this ride! I rode it in the evening in the back row and I kept my head forward and I didn't get any head banging. I did get a tiny bit of head tapping, but that was it. Although, my sister rode raptor and she didn't like it because of the headbanging I keep telling her to keep her head forward, but she just won't ride anything with over the shoulder restraints :( and she also had a bad experience on Rougarou and she said that it banged her head around a lot. I didn't get to ride Rougarou because something happened with me that I don't want to talk about. Then after Raptor, the group leader split is off into groups with other adult leaders. I went with a guy named Ben McKinney who to his group to Millennium Force and it was a blast at night and surprisingly, they let us back on and I rode it at dark. Millennium Force is my favorite rollercoaster, I found Maverick overrated because I had very high expectations because of the people loving it so much and I was left disappointed by it.

    Raptor is the only other B&M invert I rode. Rode three B:TR clones. I agree with you that Raptor doesn't let up, and that helix is intense as hell. I need to get my ass out and ride Banshee, Alpengiest, Afterburn, Talon, Montu, and many other B&M inverts out there.
