    Last year, I made a 3 day trip to this park. I stayed at breakers, had fast lane for one day, made sure to get on every coaster, and eat at the best restaurants. Out of all the theme parks I’ve been to, this park was truly something else. Every ride was simple perfection, the food was great, and the atmosphere was better than any other *amusement park.* I like Disney better in terms of experience, but if I could go to any place in the world again it would be cedar point. This review has some great tips and is one of the best quality videos I’ve seen on TH-cam to date!

    This is one of the best cedar point reviews that I’ve seen on TH-cam. Thanks for your hard work.
    Undoubtedly, this is the best coaster collection at any park. Navigating Cedar Point just feels like a chore, though. I love a couple of hours away from the park so I can visit multiple times a year. That makes it nice that I don’t feel like I need to get on everything in one visit. I usually have a great time just riding the good coasters that don’t get stupid long waits, like Magnum, Gemini, Rougarou, Blue Streak, Raptor, and Gatekeeper (in the afternoon).
    I feel like Cedar Point needs to do something to fix it’s fast lane system, such as limiting each FL holder to one ride on major attractions. All they have done so far is just raise the price on it, apparently to limit the number sold. As of the time I’m writing this , FL+ for Labor Day weekend is going for $249.
    Great content as always, Canobie Coaster!

      Thank you! I wonder if some sort of reservation system for the most popular Fast Lane rides would help. I've had to wait 30-60 minutes for Maverick and Steel Vengeance before. Granted that's a lot better than the standby line.

      @@CanobieCoaster Comparing Notes: visited Tuesday-Thursday 6/21-6/23/22. Wasn't very crowded for Cedar Point on those days. Had a great experience.
      Fast Lane Plus: used each day, which consistently saved about an hour on the Ferris Wheel, and 30-60 minutes on Valravyn, Steel Vengeance, and Maverick.
      Not helpful on Gatekeeper or Millennium Force due to a combo of the unfavorable merge points on those rides and relatively light crowds. Even with the unfavorable merge point on Steel Vengeance (20 minutes Fast Lane wait), Fast Lane still saved a lot of time. The metal detector on the left seems to move faster than the one on the right (shorter path).
      Lockers: required for Valravyn, Magnum, Steel Vengeance, Gatekeeper, Millennium Force, Rougarou, but only Steel Vengeance had metal detectors. The $10 movable locker system is alright I guess, but feels a little nickel & dime and I don't understand the logic for requiring lockers on rides like Rougarou and Magnum.
      Accommodations: tried Castaway Bay this time. Mostly families with kids under age 10. Nice room. Water park wasn't too crowded, but we only spent a couple hours there. Breakfast buffet wasn't good (worse than a Homewood Suites). Will stick with Breakers or Lighthouse Point going forward, but glad to have experienced Castaway Bay at least once.
      Operations: Firing on all cylinders. Everything was (mostly) open except TTD. Maverick and Steel Vengeance crews were the best. Millennium Force crew was unreasonably slow. All the others were pretty good. All employees were polite, some were super helpful, and they all seemed to want to be there. I wish Six Flags (Magic Mountain, Great America, etc) would send some people over to Kings Island and Cedar Point to learn how to run rides and treat customers. It's not rocket science, but is night and day when comparing Six Flags to the Ohio Cedar Fair parks.
      Photo booths: working on Millennium Force, Steel Vengeance, Maverick, Valravyn, and Gatekeeper. Seems like a minor thing having that many ride photo booths working, but it's a huge selling point for my wife. Memories are all any of us have at some point in life and it's neat to see the kids grow up via coaster ride photos taken over the years. Cedar Point helps make that possible more than any other park in America. I appreciate that Funpix season photo pass works at all the best Cedar Fair parks (not Dorney for some reason, but oh well).
      Food: Chickie's and Pete's was solid as usual, but the best was the Kitchen & Grill restaurant that just opened in 2022 back by Maverick. I had chicken salad with potatoes and biscuit (twice!). Favorite Cedar Fair restaurant so far, and it is also right next to Chick-fil-A (my kids' favorite) so everyone in the family can eat together even though they got food from different places. The Ferris Wheel overlooks the old Wicked Twister spot, which is now a construction site, and it looks like they are building an upscale restaurant there overlooking the beach. Not ideal from a coaster enthusiast perspective, but it's probably the right move for the park overall.
      Rides: The ride lineup here is still the best. Magic Mountain has more coasters, but quality trumps quantity. That said, Magnum = pain. Wonderful view but I think I've had enough of that one (and kinda Arrow in general). You ranked it #4 in your Cedar Point rides video. Was with you up until that point!
      Overall: Look forward to visiting again in late August and early October. This is still my #1 park (and #1 trip when combined with Kings Island), although if visiting at busier times the unfavorable merge points would probably knock that ranking down a couple notches, but not too far since Cedar Point is still a wonderful environment to immerse yourself in even if you ride no coasters.

    I give this review a 10 out of 10. Is all this your original footage? Amazing. Job very well done. I’ve only been once, in 2014. Rode the punishing Mean Streak, and stand-up Mantis. And every other non-children coaster - except Gatekeeper was down for both days, and I didn’t catch Gemini, or Cedar Creek Mine Ride. The old restraints on Maverick were a killer. Incidentally, I do love the taste of bugs, so I’m in luck. You’re the best, man. Thank you for your work, as always!

    I went to Ohio for my first time last year, and I preferred KI to CP overall. Both were great. I did 4 days at KI and 5 at CP. The crowds at CP were crazy. I waited over an hour for SV with a fast lane plus. I waited 2.5 hours without it. RMC needs to debut a 4 across coaster train for CP. I never saw Valravn below 45mins for fast lane. Maverick had wacky lines too. My highlights from CP were getting the last ride on SV every night, riding Millie every morning early entry, and getting lucky once each with Maverick and Dragster with marathoning them. We rode Dragster with 0 wait (with fastlane) 8 times in a row. What a rush.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Kings Island is definitely better for crowds and Fast Lane.

    • @russ4moose
      @russ4moose 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@CanobieCoaster Thanks for the response. I'm a big fan of your channel. Honestly, my preference for KI was more about the intangibles like park pride and staff friendliness. Also, I really enjoy the variety with world class woodies and some great steel modern monsters. I rode the last night ride on The Beast every night I was there. I tend to lean towards quality over quantity with coasters.
      Here's a breakdown if it interests you:
      - The bat > Iron Dragon + Corkscrew combined
      - Orion => Millennium Force (tough one)
      - Diamondback vs Magnum is hard, but without nostalgia? I'm going Diamondback.
      - Steel Vengeance (probably the best coaster in the world) > Mystic Timbers (The best GCI ever)
      - The Beast > Blue streak
      - Banshee=Raptor: OK, I do slightly prefer Banshee. I personally prefer longer rides with bigger drops, and I don't really like cobra rolls that much.
      Gemini > Racer but I enjoy both
      Maverick: KI doesn't have an answer for this. Flight of Fear and Stunt Lot are both fun, but not outstanding.
      - Valravn is a good dive coaster, and I think CP starts really pulling ahead on Coaster collections at this point. I'll put Invertigo here, losing horribly to Valravn.
      - Gatekeeper: OK, I don't know what to make of this ride. It was shut down for my 5 days at CP. I hear it's not that great, but I'd like to decide for myself. Points to CP for having this beautiful looking ride right at their entrance.
      - Rougarou: It just doesn't feel like it belongs, but it does what it does fairly well as the world's third worst B&M.
      - CP would take the edge here for me with Top Thrill Dragster, but will it ever be open again? And if it is, will it be for more than 10 minutes per day?
      - I think the flat ride collections are pretty comparable.
      - I'm not the least bit interested in credits or kiddie coasters, so everything else is irrelevant to me.
      - Corkscrew is a terrible ride. I'm not interested in ever riding it again unless I'm paid to do so. I would say Iron Dragon is worse as a thrill ride, but with the added headache and misery, Corkscrew really takes the cake.
      - The Beast: This ride is iconic, and of course it's the longest woodie in the world by quite a bit. Its layout isn't the greatest, it has been rough, and there is some kinda boring straight track, but the whole experience, especially if you get a night ride, is a truly unique and memorable experience worth having.
      Well, that's my coaster breakdown CP vs. KI. Cheers.

    Great review & tips. The long lines on almost all days are the biggest downside. Last year, my planned departure day drew a very light crowd because of overnight storms, so I added a day to spend 4.5 days here, and never got bored. My least favorite of those days was my fast lane plus day, as the fast lane lines were typically longer than the regular lines, as it seemed that half the guests had it. I actually got more done on my other days and had more fun, but I also utilized many of the tips that you mentioned to manage the crowds well. I'm a fan of loaded mac & cheese bowls, and Cedar Point has a good place for that near the front of the park.
    I didn't know that Maverick was also being taken off the early entry this year. It was on early entry last year, but I still prioritized Millennium Force during early entry, jumping on Valravn on the way. I was very lucky to visit during the short time that both Dragster & Gatekeeper were open. I stayed at a cheap Rodeway Inn for under $250 total for 4 nights, since I wouldn't be in the room much, and despite questionable reviews, it was a great motel. I've stayed there 3 times now.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm wondering if neither Maverick nor Vengeance being on Early Entry will negate my strategy to start with Millennium Force.

    • @OklahomaCoasterFan
      @OklahomaCoasterFan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CanobieCoaster Interesting you mention that. Maverick went down Tuesday and stayed down for a couple days. Wednesday morning, I went straight to Millennium Force at the start of early entry, and when I got off, the line was already filling several switchbacks before the fast lane merge point. All the Maverick riders might have been here instead.

After visiting for the first time in 2015, I actually preferred Kings Island a little bit more because there were some small disappointments like the bugs, the high winds and me somehow throwing up on Gemini (how?🤔). Next time I plan.to spend more time exploring the Frontier Trail and check out Castaway Bay and the nearby Kalahari also.

    Cedar point is always slammed but if you go in the summer and you have a disability like me, you can get the plan your day boarding pass program and you can enter the attractions through their exit and usually get right on within 5 to 10 minutes and they let you choose any row you want to but depending on how crowded the park is they do give you a return time anywhere between 10 mins-2 hours but the only time you have to wait an hour or more to get on attractions is during the fall season and weekends. It really definitely saves your time and you even get on faster than the fast lane and fast lane plus options that can be very expensive like you said. And then it doesn’t rain every day in the summer but only a few days unlike the Orlando parks. The only downside is there is not any single rider lines at cedar point meaning that if you do not have a disability you are forced to wait in those long lengthy lines unless you purchase a fast lane.

Have been looking at airbnd sites and it seems like there is nothing like the house we stayed in a few yrs back. Definitely nothing located anywhere near where we stayed. Everything is small condos and old homes 10 - 20 miles away from the park. When we booked 2 yrs ago there were several houses right along the lake on the peninsula. Now there are none.
