From what I've seen, it looks like it'll have a mixture of gameplay types for each character. Leon seems to have a Resident Evil 1/2 style gameplay with the horror atmosphere and slight action, Jake has Resident Evil 3/4 with the increased amount of action, Ustanak stalking you and a sort of 'middle of nowhere' vibe, Chris has 5 with the increased focus on action with relatively minimal focus on pure horror. I think 6 will please everyone...
i like where they are going with this game. lets look at it from a story perspective. Chris has his own small army and is supposed to be well prepared for an zombie outbreak by this point. which means he is actively searching and hunting those monsters and the people responsible for them. that covers the action element. the survival horror elements might be harder to pull of because we already know how to kill these monsters quickly. i do like the new nemesis character they added. it was needed.
Thanks man. My biggest hope for this game is that at least Leons campaign will capture some of the survival horror aspect of the game we got in RE 4. That way it balances out and we can see that capcom has not completly given up on the survival horror aspects of the game.
duh. I know many people still complain about the loss of the horror element in the franchise, but your explaination is perfectly right in my opinion, and beyond that it's painfully obvious. I don't get why people still complain about this. The characters are WAY more experienced and that's GOOD, cause we as players are TOO! it would suck playing a new and unexperienced guy again. that's what I think. you're totally right, and it's annoying how these "fans" can think otherwise!
FINALLY! An older person that understands this series! People are complaining that they changed RE too much but dont give a crap about COD staying the same every god damn year. If they like the old style REs then they can go play them without bitching about the new ones over the internet. Stupid hypocrites...
Trust me, I love the older games. Admittedly, it was an unexpected change when they released RE4. I ended up playing RE4 and 5 way after they were released because i was unsure about whether i'd like them or not. While i was playing them it felt obviously different but at the same time it was like the whole theme that made RE great was still there. This style did appeal the casual gamers more, but even then,it wasn't like nobody knew what the games were going to be like before they was released.
said everything man, this is still the good old RE, and its more intense now, the game always was about bioterrorism, and i'm very excited for this 6, i mean.. the world looks kinda damned with all those things happening there.. people who talk shit about the game were not fans of RE but yes survival horror fans, like you said, a real fan likes the series regardless of how it changes.. and in my point of view this is the RE i knew, the game was always about bio-organic weapons.
Alright guys. Chris's campaign is supposed to be like RE5, very actiony. Leon's gameplay is supposed to be scary like in RE4. Then Jake's gameplay is like both but you are constantly on the run.
The BSAA stands for the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance and it's a special forces team that prevents bioterrorist threats. Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine joined the BSAA after STARS from RE1 was killed in the Mansion as they were betrayed by Albert Wesker. I'm unsure as to who is infected as I myself is unsure whether the enemies in the Chris and Jake scenario are even infected because they're not zombies like in the Leon scenario. More will be revealed when the game comes out
I love Chris's character! He's my favorite out of all of the RE characters. To be honest it looks like the job is getting to him cause he looks like he's suffering from PTSD. I heard in this game he's a drunk now.
RE never was scary, it was just a survival game where you made sure to save ammo. It had no fear factor, it was just an action game that had horrible controls.
I totally agree...I don't understand why people act so surprised given Resident evil 4 everyone knew the direction Capcom was going to go. I, for one, don't care what genre RE' 4 comes in (as long as it's not card, or turn based) I'll stand by capcom because I loved what they've done since the first RE which was the very first game I ever played.
Not entirely. RE4 did a wonderful job of keeping the horror atmosphere while offering a fresh story and world. They used Leon, who I think we can agree had "been there and done that." The same happened in Code: Veronica X, which used Claire who also had experience. Despite this, both were beautiful games. You don't necessarily need fresh meat to make the experience fresh, you just need to keep the survival horror aspect, which RE5 totally lacked.
Dude I've been playing video games since RE1 came out. And once again you divert to Dead Space. Let me tell you something. When I first played Dead Space 1 one of the first things I took notice of was how Isaac Clarks stance when walking through corriders or how he carried himself in combat all looked VERY similiar to how Leon walked in RE 4. So once again you accusation of plagarism is backwards when you take that approach. I understand you could simply not be a RE fan...
Everyone who is hating on RE6 and hated on RE5 for being more action oriented, here's the thing, gamers these days don't want slow horror and puzzles to solve. They want FPS and fast paced, action paced games. I love the old Resident Evils. I love the puzzle solving and fixed cam angles, but not everyone does. I understand why Capcom moved this way. Especially with the popularity of RE4. Look at it this way, if these action games entice new players to play the older RE games, all the better! :)
Because they aren't zombies. Because the developers wanted there to be crosshairs, to make aiming easier. And yes, it will be. That's why there are 3 campaigns.
being a RE fan since number one i agree with all my RE fanatics point and fact is RE was known from its gory out look and scary images RE set a new wave of gaming and now its a shooting game like the rest RE fans arent complaining about the new games they just want "RESIDENT EVIL" to stand out and be the best like back in the day
That's the equivalent of saying that GTA lost its 'roots' because it abandoned the top-down gameplay and went 3D. Or MGS lost its 'roots' because the second and third games weren't about Solid Snake. I played an hour on Leon's campaign yesterday, and it's just like the old Resi with a full 360 camera - something RE fans have been craving for years. Yes, there are more zombies, but that just means it's scarier. It doesn't make it a shooter, anymore than hordes of zombies made RE2 a shooter.
its not "unpopular" its just that...people are jugeing it way to harshly, before they've even played it! i agree with you it is going to be fun and exciting
I've seen it, where he punches the hell out of rock and dual stabs Wesker with Sheva. Before I saw this video, I was worried that the game's creator's might make Chris significantly weaker. This video reassured me that we were going to have a badass Chris.
I'd probably contribute the success of post RE4 games to casual gamers mostly. since it became more accessible to people, it reached some serious amount of success. Kinda like how Fallout games went from isometric/turn based gameplay to First person view/action gameplay and became wildly successful while old school fans weren't impressed with what FO had become. I'm more partial to older RE games, though I know exactly where other people are coming from.
Oh yeah! Jake and chris will have a suspensful type of horror, jake will be running from the huge BOW called the utstanak thats trying to kill him and sherry (in relation to nemesis from resident evil 3) and chris will be fighting ferocious and fearsome enemies in his campaign almost like an edge of your seat type thrills trying to stay alive so i honestly think that all campaigns will be perfectly balanced and extremely fun to play! :D
Yes, im sure his campaign might have them, but im sure for leon he will be facing more zombies seeing how his campaign will revolve around the classic RE style which is a main reason why im really excited to play as leon! :D
This is one of the best games of Resident Evil! those who are saying this game is gonna suck or it sucks haven't even played it and just watched it in some video in youtube.watching and playing this game are 2 HIGHLY different things. Yes it's not scary but the gameplay itelf is INTENSE! P.S. I like Chris' campaign out of the three just because it has alot of action and seems more like non stop, intense story guys like me like.
I think, and this is my opinion on why Chris is like this, is because from the look of the cutscene and how his new partner showed him those photos of the soldiers, it looks like Chris was in charge of a mission with those soldiers and they all die during that mission, and now Chris feels guilty for their deaths because he was in charge of the mission and he is now trying drink the guilt away. Poor Chris if Jill or Claire was there to comfort him and snap him out of it. Also reason their is no
I don't get why people are telling 'die-hard RE fans who hate the change' to go play COD. The change in the series was to PULL IN the COD / action fans, the devs said it themselves. As for the change itself, RE2 and 3 recycled a few things from their predecessors, i'll use minor thins like door images and sound effects as an example. RE5 and (from these demo's) 6 have also recycled things from RE4, for example animations and sound effects. The difference is.....(continued next post)
yeah.I kinda noticed that in Leon's campaign.yeah I agree this game is more on action.I mean with Chris's campaign is you have the BSSA Team with you and Piers most of the time.and you have alot of weaponry.so yeah it lost it's horror touch. but I like to hear your opinion or ideas for the game to be better.
Its not anything like the gameplay of 1 and 2, 1 and 2 were free roam, it made you map out the area in your head to know where the safe rooms were, and focused on saving ammo and items to survive to the next part, but I get what you mean when you say it has a similar creepy atmosphere.
Well I understand if you don't like a game. I am not gonna insult you are the like, but there isn't really any reason to watch a movie on youtube then rip on it if you already know you are not gonna get it. I understand the story line gets a little cliche at times but I've been playing it since the beggining and what can I say. It never fails to give me a sense of nostalgia when I play any of them. Sure I miss the old RE style gameplay, but I am willing to give it a try.
okay...but in itself, it ranked particularly high, no matter how much you hate it, it was still a good game in its own right. RE4 too, it was critically acclaimed. you know what this means?..it means their formula is working, they are making good games, though some fans like you won't accept that games evolve, they change, you can't always just make a good game, and the style would be like that forever.
speak for yourself, i was a fan of the original games and i think this game looks kickass. Some of us are just a little more...open minded than others.
Oh, so basically they're aggressive humans that can mutate? Does Leon's campaign have them too? I'm asking because I heard that his campaign leaned more towards the classic Resident Evil style.
well the game evolved to please a younger generation.I agree that it lost that horror feeling like in the early RE games.but they adapt to the new controls, platforms I mean they even put the Heavy Rain type gameplay where you have to smash buttons to perform an action.I thought that some people who are loyal to RE games would enjoy this game because it features 3 campaigns that have diffirent strategies.like Leon is slow, scary, dark .Chris is just non-stop action and Jake's kinda like puzzles.
(part 2) furthermore, RE6 is the result of experience, they saw potential in the RE4 style, implemented it in RE5, but 5 wasn't horror-ish enough, so they now make RE6, with their experience, A TRUE FAN WOULD HAVE RESPECT FOR THE GAME MAKERS WHO BROUGHT THE GAME, NOT JUST MINDLESSLY HATE FOR CHANGING IT
And I totally respect that. Besides, I think a good game company is one that makes games I like and dislike. They attract a larger variety of gamers, and to me that is a good quality.
I love Resident Evil, all of them and i cant see why people thinks that Resident Evil 4 destroyed the series forever... I love theese games and they are making them better for every year :/ What is it to hate?
I don't care what people say about this game, I'm still getting it. It looks awesome! As long as they have good AI (RE5's AI was shit...) and the main characters of the series, i'm happy.
Regardless, it is technically still RE. However, I hear Leon's story is focused more on the survival aspects of horror. Chris' campaign is action-oriented; apparently.
I agree with what you're saying about RE 1, 2, and 4. But I still enjoyed 5 a lot and I must admit to having spent more time on it that any other RE, probably because of the replay value that the leader boards and online play more than anything else. So long as I don't compare it to the older games, then it's actually very easy to justify loving it. But I do see where you're coming from with this, I thought that way once as well, but i warmed up to re5 pretty quick. But that's just me.
You have to think though games like this cost just as much or more to develop than CoD for example. The majority of gamers don't enjoy being scared whilst playing so prefer shooters. So in all capcom have to include shooter aspects to attract a wider audience and make profit from the game. The same thing is also happening with dead space 3.
Jake might have a mixture of zombies & J'avo because Chris has J'avo only and Leon has zombies only while Jake has that Ustanank NEMESIS monster which similar to the RE# NEMESIS.
when the toggle shows you to wiggle it with the circle around it, which way do you do it, up and down or sideways back and forth and is it the right or left one???
"classic RE fan"? lol a real RE fan would appreciate it every RE games and the core features included in the game and see how it has evolved. I've been playing RE since Zero for gamecube and i love chris' part, jake & leon obviously!
I wish they would get rid of this whole zombie/parasites with guns thing they seem to keep on repeating. Resident Evil was always about zombies and mutations, not South Africans with rifles and tentacles coming from their heads. The Leon game play is exactly what I'm after, atmospheric, creepy, eery yet intriguing with the original zombie types. Reminds me of the mansion on RE1 all those years ago. I know developers are leaning more towards FPS now but some originality would be great.
Badass all day. Lol, ppl don't get the running... he's freakin ripped and carrying bulky armor type stuff. They tried to get rid of that stiffness where you couldn't react well since the camera was glued your back, but now you can 360 while the camera still facing forward.
Might be cool for what it is. I think old RE fans may have a right to complain, but if they do make a good job for this game for what it's trying to be, I'll be cool with it. If it fails, it won't be because it wasn't the game old RE fans wanted it to be, but because it was a bad game, period.
Chris is a beast baby!!!! always been my favorite character
best knife combat out of every other RE game!
Glad to see that the knife will be a little more useful in this installment...
We can't tell anything right now, we'll have to wait and play the game!
i like where they are going with this game. lets look at it from a story perspective.

Honestly, I liked RE4 and RE5 more than the old games. There, I said it. I liked the others too, but I'm really looking forward to loving RE6.
it's good they actually have melee sequence now. Makes the game more fun!
1:35 was the shit how chris just rammed that knife right through that zombies chest
duh. I know many people still complain about the loss of the horror element in the franchise, but your explaination is perfectly right in my opinion, and beyond that it's painfully obvious. chris is still the badass that i know and love
As much as an OLD RE school fan I am this looks pretty good I am impressed :)
I really like the new enemy death animations, they remind me of the vampire deaths in the Blade movies.
FINALLY! An older person that understands this series! People are complaining that they changed RE too much but dont give a crap about COD staying the same every god damn year. Chris can punch a giant rock till it moves out of his way, but he can't open a gate alone. That's awesome.
I love Chris's character! He's my favorite out of all of the RE characters. To be honest it looks like the job is getting to him cause he looks like he's suffering from PTSD. I heard in this game he's a drunk now.
Name song is Master of Shadow from Two Steps From Hell.
.

what is that cool song? REALLY HYPED FOR THE GAME!!! XD
Capcom said that even though Leon's campaign is about horror, there are parts in the other two campaigns that will also have horror elements.

Chris is a real MMA fighter '-'
Because they aren't zombies. Because the developers wanted there to be crosshairs, to make aiming easier. And yes, it will be. That's why there are 3 campaigns.
As long as you accept that the survival horror aspect is gone, it looks like a pretty cool game.
being a RE fan since number one i agree with all my RE fanatics point and fact is RE was known from its gory out look and scary images RE set a new wave of gaming and now its a shooting game like the rest RE fans arent complaining about the new games they just want "RESIDENT EVIL" to stand out and be the best like back in the day
Damn this looks sick deff buying
Can'r wait for this !!!
I have always questioned as to why the punch seems to be more powerful than an actual bullet.
That's the equivalent of saying that GTA lost its 'roots' because it abandoned the top-down gameplay and went 3D. Or MGS lost its 'roots' because the second and third games weren't about Solid Snake. Have you seen the video from comic con? man, Chris doesn't take crap from anyone, not even his own team. If you haven't watched it, look it up.
I know right? This game is lookin' pretty sweet.
RE1: Dont bite me i am out of ammo!
RE6: Come here you pathetic horde of infected mutants, my fists are waiting...
My favorite part is at 3:16 when chris runs up to that zombie and beat the shit out of it!
I'd probably contribute the success of post RE4 games to casual gamers mostly. since it became more accessible to people, it reached some serious amount of success. XD
This is one of the best games of Resident Evil!
those who are saying this game is gonna suck or it sucks haven't even played it and just watched it in some video in youtube.watching and playing this game are 2 HIGHLY different things.

aw, it looks like the knife is back to being an equippable weapon instead of having an asigned button.

RE1 & Zero always will be for me The best RE games ever
Chris just picked a juavo up and chucked him like that boulder he punched, yeah i'm buyin' this shit.
Don't quite remember where i read it but i believe capcom also said they included some horror sections in the other two campaigns.
okay...but in itself, it ranked particularly high, no matter how much you hate it, it was still a good game in its own right. RE4 too, it was critically acclaimed. you know what this means?..it means their formula is working, they are making good games, though some fans like you won't accept that games evolve, they change, you can't always just make a good game, and the style would be like that forever.

I can't tell if you're trying to say he's just a beast, or saying he's an infant.
love the song

finally some real knife combat!
I love Resident Evil, all of them and i cant see why people thinks that Resident Evil 4 destroyed the series forever... I love theese games and they are making them better for every year :/ What is it to hate?
He's like40 and has been drinking for six months. He just stopped working out.
I love Chris!
He's the Best :)
I don't care what people say about this game, I'm still getting it. It looks awesome! As long as they have good AI (RE5's AI was shit...) and the main characters of the series, i'm happy.
wtf??
sense when zombie can carry gun??
that meen in RE 7
zombie can talk and drive a car
Jesus.)))))))
ok, never mind, i dont think they are krauser arms actualy.
Is the music from the videogame's soundtrack?
despite Leon's campaign mainly focus's on the horror (like Chris is more 'action' and Jake is more 'survival')
It looks like it's hard to aim at enemies and can't understand why these zombies now use weapons. But I'm still excited about this game.
Regardless, it is technically still RE. However, I hear Leon's story is focused more on the survival aspects of horror. Chris' campaign is action-oriented; apparently.
I guess you've never seen the final battle in Resident Evil 5.
I read that this was Leon who was going to had the survival part and Chris will had the action part
His Ai isn't even close to finished. Thank goodness he didnt spend his time dying over and over
I agree with what you're saying about RE 1, 2, and 4. But I still enjoyed 5 a lot and I must admit to having spent more time on it that any other RE, probably because of the replay value that the leader boards and online play more than anything else. Not really. it has always been about bio-weapons in general not just zombies. Ergo, the ganado/majini/J'avo are not out of place.
Maybe they are more tougher against bullet than against the concussion that resulted from strong blows?
You have to think though games like this cost just as much or more to develop than CoD for example. The majority of gamers don't enjoy being scared whilst playing so prefer shooters. So in all capcom have to include shooter aspects to attract a wider audience and make profit from the game. The same thing is also happening with dead space 3.
Why couldn't they do both? Have some sections or characters play more like survival horror and have the other half be over-the-top action stuff?
Jake might have a mixture of zombies & J'avo because Chris has J'avo only and Leon has zombies only while Jake has that Ustanank NEMESIS monster which similar to the RE# NEMESIS.
when the toggle shows you to wiggle it with the circle around it, which way do you do it, up and down or sideways back and forth and is it the right or left one???
there not zombies that have guns they are javo - the zombies are in the game as seen in leon's scenario
Good, that creates difficulty in the game rather than an easy "I'll walk backwards and kill everything without being touched"
Wait. You have to go to the inventory to get your knife now? What happended to the bumper+trigger knife controls?
chris only occupies half the screen in time to shoot
I know developers are leaning more towards FPS now but some originality would be great.
from when the zombies have a mind to take the gun ?
Badass all day. Lol, ppl don't get the running... he's freakin ripped and carrying bulky armor type stuff. They tried to get rid of that stiffness where you couldn't react well since the camera was glued your back, but now you can 360 while the camera still facing forward.
To all complainers out there, Resident Evil is not a horror series. It's an action series with horror "elements".
Might be cool for what it is. I think old RE fans may have a right to complain, but if they do make a good job for this game for what it's trying to be, I'll be cool with it. If it fails, it won't be because it wasn't the game old RE fans wanted it to be, but because it was a bad game, period.
They're not zombies. Leon's campaign has zombies, the enemies in Chris' campaign are called J'avo. they're a different type of B.O.W.
do you know that the first RE games were "Survival Horror" games. i like the new games too, and can't wait for this game.
