I don't think anything's wrong with introducing co-op mode to the series, it goes with the theme behind each of the games. In the first two games it was survival and in this one it's assault so making it feel closer to a third-person shooter is perfect!
The first battlefield was released in 2002. Battlefield 1942. The Battlefield that was released in 2004 was Battlefield Vietnam which was the 3rd or 4th Installment in the Battlefield franchise. But if this is about what FPS game was released first, Halo Combat Evolved was released in November 2001. Which was a good 2 years before Call of Duty.
Just to let people know, in case they weren't aware-- this game can still be played single-player, so don't freak out or think it's going to be bad because of the co-op, they've even made different cutscenes depending on which mode you're playing, so that both ways are different in form of speech and actions. HassanAlHajry on youtube has a good commentated (by the creators of the game) playthrough you can look at for more information~ This is just a teaser.

Sure it might look a little more action oriented, but that doesn't mean it lose the scare factor altogether. It's still the same series, and when you're in the characters shoes come February, you'll realize how scary the game actually is :) This is one series that I actually have faith in.
See, the D.S series were never supposed to scare you all the time, it's supposed to give the player JUMP scares, meaning out of no where, a necromorph will pop out and attack you, or lights will shut down and a horde of monsters run at you, or the audio stingers how at some points it goes DUUUUUUUUUUUNNN really loudly and makes you paranoid.. That's what dead space is, it's a fantastic game. So is this one. It just KIND of lost it's scare factor since it's in the open, not confined areas.
It was always a mass shooter, especially since the previous games liked to send waves and waves of Necros after you and you had to burn through tons of ammo to kill them and reach your objective. The thing is, it's still survivor, the whole universal ammo thing was just in this demo, and it's still horror (has horror elements). Just watch a little thing called the Gamescon trailer.
I couldn't agree with you more. Not to start a CoD war, but companies are looking how the mass media reacts to a new CoD game. Since MW2, the have been using the same engine, adding a few more guns/renaming guns, and changing the name. People will still buy it because it has features everyone likes and "somehow" doesn't get bored of. As for Syndicate, console games have never been on the top with strategy games, if it took strategy, then people would complain that it's too hard.
Looks great, and I'm looking forward to this game along with Halo 4, Crysis 3, MOH Warfighter, and Assassins Creed 3. Can't wait much longer for any of these games!
and yes its important that dead space is horror, because that was the main merit and value of the first one that made it great. it was the first horror game i played that could seriously capture the feeling of being completely alone and vulnerable. that made the game special. but if you enjoyed all the other generic games then you should love this.
There is a brief intro to the series in the game (also on TH-cam), and the video explains the setting of the universe. It also gives a spoiler or two, in these videos so watch them at your own risk. But you do not have to play 1 or 2, to enjoy but you should play them just because they are great games.
The developers outdid themselves on this one. It truly looks like they spent lots of time on this and having a different setting which looks nice. Honestly though this is like survival-action instead of survival horror. Like it or not, Isaac Clark was trained by the Gears of war to take on the tangos of frosted warfare on some Lost Planet. Oh and to kill necromorphs!

There's been automatic rifles. They integrated a kind of death match for online. Isaac lookalike? I don't think so. The giant drill is simple a part in the campaign. I don't see what everyone's complaining about. It looks like a fun game
The problem I have with co-op is that the devs have said that there will be a great deal of dialogue/interaction between isaac and carver and content that will basically be unavailable in single-player mode. The story changes depending on which mode you're playing. Personally, I'd rather they just incorporate it all into one awesome single-player mode.
Personally, I felt DS1 was more scary, for the very concept that the necromorph's were a new enemy, and you had no freaking clue what to expect. DS2 had smoother gameplay, and really delved into Issac's character, and the effects of what he went through played out on his mind. It also gave a high perspective of the devastation the Marker had, seeing the chaos early on, people panicking, and even going threw the school, which had children and newborns.
Haters can't stop hating on 1 of the scariest games with a impeccable story and probably the smoothest graphics idk like ever. They don't even need cutscenes because the game is already perfect. GG

The thing here is, this game will actually be varied, unlike the first DS which was INCREDIBLY repetitive. They already showed snow, space ships, and they are hinting at underground cities. Also, don't complain about big boss battles, Dead Space has always had them: Brutes, Tripods, the Tormentor, the Leviathan, the Slug, the Hive Mind, etc.
If you've seen any other trailer you'd know this is just a small part. Also, it doesn't look like Lost Planet 2, just because it has snow doesn't mean it looks like Lost Planet 2. And one giant boss fight doesn't mean every enemy is gonna be some whale looking thing. You didn't complain in Deadspace 1 about the "Hydra", did you? Or the final boss? This gameplay was selected to show off a couple of new things, such as new environment, new combat mechanics, and new enemies.

It's not a Necromorph planet though. According to Visceral, this planet was infested with Necromorph outbreak a long time ago. And on this planet, Isaac team thinks they can find a clue to end Necromorph threat once and for all.
Well actually Co-Op is optional, and if you play single player Carver won't be an AI following u around like in Resident Evil 5. If u play solo Isaac will be by himself like in Dead Space 1 and 2.

Dead Space 3 is looking nice! It could possibly be Game Of The Year material for 2013 and I know Dead Space 1 & 2 were great and a DS3 Game Givaway is something I cannot refuse.

Actually, if you watch the trailers on tv, it says Dead Space 3 received a 9.75 out 10. It is a fun game! Already beat it on impossible and gonna try it on hardcore mode!
I hope this is gonna have split screen co-op. It would be awesome to rip through hordes of Necromorphs on the same screen as my dad or best friend. Games like Ghost Recon Future Soldier and Dead Island were fun but they said that there would be co-op and never described if there would be split screen co-op or not so when I found out I was severely disappointed. Hopefully Dead Space 3 won't disappoint me like other games.

CoD is not dated - it still lives with a fresh and vigorous demeanour, it is worth every single penny because it is the epitome of perfection in the shooter-game genre. Dead Space is just...well....dead.

I played the last two extensively, and I'm confident in Visceral's ability to make Co-Op work while preserving the horror aspect. I'm not sure how adding human enemies immediately makes this an all out action game. In regards to the rolling and combat skills, the lore reveals that Clark was in the Merchant Marines, which would account for his melee counters in the first two games as well.

Hell yes!! This will be absolutely amazing!! Playing through Dead Space 2 and Extraction for the first time, so far, amazing.
I've only played the demo for Dead Space 1, but it definitely seems like a series that I want to get into.

also u have to admit a huge icy environment with a huge monster with glowing limbs that pops out of the ground it sounds a lot like lost planet

DS2 was the best game of the year when it came out I completed like 7 times that's how much I was addicted to it

never played any dead space games but HOLY SHIT this looks so good!
Because it's in an arctic area, futuristic, and with the big bosses that have a certain weak spot. I haven't seen any space in the demo.

It's logical when you consider he'll be fighting ranged human opponents. In previous games he could barely move side to side, let alone strafe.

Co-op has more action because it is harder to scare in and single player has the good old dead space feel. At least that is what i have heard.
