Yeah. I saw that the council would trigger on his own turn as well. So, with that howling mine type effect, you actually get to keep parity with your opponents. That's huge.

I have Dihada deck and she's really fun commander. Really cool to see The Council of Four. I actually played with him in the pre-release as my commander in draft. Was a really strange deck, and got me victory.
There's a kid comes to my LGS who's been running the Ranar the Ever-Watchful and Anaowon the Ruin-thief precon decks, and he smashes face with those things. If you do not have specific counters in hand they can get REALLY out of hand. My first ever game of commander was with the Mardu Legends deck Eilidh is piloting and it was absolutely insane. I've modded it a bit now to include some fun stuff I wanted to play, but that thing does not need modding. It's really cool that you can just buy a decent deck.
Luxior, Giada's gift and Magda, Brazen Outlaw do insane amounts of work in my dihada deck, highly reccomend. It's one of my absolute favorite decks to play, it quickly turns into archenemy though

boy lots of laugh out loud moments in that game loved seeing the banter. I really like how precons can hang with just about any table plus playing multiplayer someone will eventually become a bigger threat and give you a chance to catch up. great episode and guests as always! :)
I think Jim should describe his deck the same way I describe my Lavinia, Azorius Renegade group hug deck: everybody gets hugs as long as they’ve filled out the proper hug requisition forms in triplicate and abide by the terms and conditions.
Not every Pre-Con can have this type of success. I've played some games where I just sat there twiddling my thumbs wishing I was participating lol. I've won games when I've been relatively left alone and ignored. The Brothers War Urza deck, if no one deals with you, you can quickly swell out of control! Others, like Strefan, cause I'm a huge Vampires fan, was slow, clunky and couldn't really keep up with the others. My LGS usually considers Pre-Cons to be at like a 5-6, while most players play at a 7-8 with anything higher being considered CEDH,etc. Thank you for the video ladies, it was entertaining as always!

I used to have a Captain Sisay deck that ran a lot of the same white cards that Dihada runs. Was very powerful to be able to tutor legendaries out of the deck every turn
If it makes Jim feel any better. I played my Council of Four deck for the first time a few weeks ago. Not only did I fail to trigger them when I spcifically did the thing for the first half of the game, but I also referred to them as the Council of Five for the entirety of the game. Lol
To Olivia's point about precons: I agree 100%. Some precons are still a little wonky and have too many things they're trying to do but, for example, Party Time. That thing is filthy and has wiped the table every time I've seen it played. Buddy of mine uses it to playfully threaten us, and he's not changed a single thing.
Jim is literally the definition of Canadian polite. The way he can absolutely throw shade like a boss and make you feel good about it. 10/10! Also Olivia playing Gruul and not being land screwed. WHAT IS GOING ON????????????

As a fellow group hug / unconventional win con player that can and does sometimes accelerate peoples games with cards like Howling Mine I do find it surprising and a teeny tiny bit perplexing when people react to decks like that like how Serge did. Like your ignoring all the extra cards and by extension consistent land drops you got for free and just focusing on this idea of the rug being pulled out from under you by Jim.. When no alt win con was seen and he didn't do that much "evil" stuff lol.. Meanwhile scary armies keep growing on Ali and Olivias boards... Ah well, good game tho! Pre cons have defo improved so much which is great to see. My friend plays Chishiro and its soooo good.

I could be 100% wrong here, but would jim not be drawing 6 cards a turn rotation? Council of 4 is “whenever a player draws a second card on their turn” not opponent, so it would see him drawing for himself as well
I won a game with my Myrel deck using Halo Fountain recently. My opponent played Blind Obedience which helped me play some extra tapped stuff, plus the soldiers Myrel made so I won in the middle of combat. It was so funny.
I built a council of four deck and I called it "passive income" just generate value anytime your opponents do things in their turn with a lot of symmetrical draw
That's not just the kamigawa gruul pre-con lol... its been upgraded.. would of loved for parallel lives to come in my pre con but had to buy it seperate.separate.. explre, the sword ect... LOVE the deck tho! So happy to see it win!
I think that last year was the year they actually figured out pre-cons. I mean even Prosper wasn't as balanced or had a mana base equal to any of last year's decks.

Dihada makes an awesome reanimator commander because you both bin the cards AND make the mana to get them back.
This is the best casual commander channel by a megamile. The laughs, decks, silliness, this is what magic is about.

About the power levels of precons now, we could use "precon" for pre-2017, and "postcon" for post-2017.
