Thanks Matt! From a fan in the UK
My pleasure!
I used to have this problem my entire little league career. Part of it was being afraid of the ball (I would get scared playing catch too). I remember in my last year playing, a coach finally saw the problem and helped me to start fixing it, with front toss and showing me the proper posture each time. He taught me to get ready to swing through the stride on every pitch, even if I knew it was a ball, and he also got me to practice stepping forward a little to stop going back. He would drag a line in the dirt by my toes, and I would have to end up with my front toes on the line. I did get a little better at hitting that year, but it was my last year playing unfortunately, so I didn't get very far
Great info
It's crazy. My son has started doing this lately and without even searching this video popped up in my feed! Scary. But thanks for the tips!
Yea some of those drills were drilled into me especially the one with the hands over the chest
We have a kid on our team that does this on every swing in game, but is also simultaneously the best hitter with the highest average. The thing is, he's a monster of a kid. 14 years old and can bench press 200+. He could easily hit home runs with better hitting mechanics, but he's having a lot of success pulling line drives to left just swinging with his arms. If he was a smaller kid, I don't think he'd ever get the ball past the infielders with how he swings, but I'm hesitant to change anything if it's working for him. Not sure what to do 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve recently come across you’re softball channel. You do some in depth discussions about training sessions on that channel where you put up a side by side of a player and make comparisons but I don’t recall ever seeing anything like that on your baseball channel. I’d love to see that where you outline the differences in coaching a baseball swing vs a softball swing or if you coach both in the same way with the same drills. Great stuff, I appreciate what you do.
Thanks and will do!
Could this fault also lead to not finishing the swing as well ( stopping hips, shoulders and rolling over)? My son has both issues occasionally. Do you think posture could be the same cause for falling in the bucket after swinging?
What if I have the left leg kinda sticking out but he still manages to put that left foot back still doing the same?
👍
