How to Safely Bezel Set an Opal Using Glue - I will demonstrate how to safely bezel set an opal using glue along with our traditional bezel setting techniques. These bezel setting techniques are identical whether silversmithing or goldsmithing bezel settings. The glue doesn't take the place of bezel setting an opal, is just provides some additional hold so that you can use less force while bezel setting. This makes it far less likely the opal will crack during the bezel setting process.

I'm glad to see you doing that, I know how some people are about glue. I use e6000, because you don't have to mix it and it sets a bit rubbery, which I would think helps absorb any shock to the opal.

What is that wire you put underneath the stone?

We sometimes use fine silver wire to raise the stone to the correct height. :)
