You can hear the inquisitiveness in Jay’s voice, even at his level of accomplishment, after all these years, he just wants to learn and understand and hear different ideas. That’s a real champion. And as always props to Mike and Jared for having the due reverence on the other side.

@@bdegrds Many of the relevant studies on specific exercise efficacy, different training modalities, et cetera, are extremely recent and have shown that a lot of previous conceptions on what constitutes an effective training and training environment, that is conducive to making the best or most gains, are not overlapping in many cases, consequently, trying to find knowledge in the anecdotes of bodybuilders, who were practicing the sport decades ago, does not bear any further consideration if ones goal is to aquire the most up to date and certainly correct data. Furthermore, even single studies are often not reliable enough, whereby meta studies have to be published using a big pool of already existing studies on a topic to really give us good data with a high amount of reliability. Knowing that, there is no reason to rely on N=1 data aka anaecdotes.

Jay Cutler is a very very good interviewer. Super underrated, not sure why his podcast isn't bigger.
Finished this pod during my morning workout, and I gotta say Jay and Mike were straight-up vibing. Jay's 'no questions are bad questions' natural curiosity, and Mike's 'I am not saying I am correct, but this is just what I think, supported by science' type of fake humbleness (lol) just mesh perfectly. As a trained scientist in a relevant field for over a decade, listening to these convos gives me genuine joy. Thanks!

injury resilience genetics is very interesting, i've been training for 15 years, doing a lot of things wrong the first 10 years, ego lifting alot etc, never once got injuried. Natty all life aswell, got my bloodwork tested several times and i got very high test levels.
No way, i don't believe a word you are saying right now "The never got injured part". Everyone i know that takes the gym seriously had gotten injured and it's just a part of it all. It's either you are not pushing yourself or you are shying away from form that can get you injured like doing half reps but still if you are half repping then you are lifting something heavy enough to warrant half repping so NO JUST NO.
If you are being stone cold honest right now jeez go aim for Mr Olympia bruh coz staying healthy is half the battle there and test your resilience to PEDS too since it should translate well with your resilience and find someone interested in that subject and have yourself experimented on "non invasive ofcourse but if you are ok with a little bit of invasiveness" world needs to know about your alien physiology i mean i'd want to know and pretty sure ever serious bodybuilder would put you under a microscope.
@MJRubber-w9t dunno what to tell you man, i train to failiure pretty much every exercise at least one set. Failiure is mandatory in my program, but i usually do 8-12 reps so its obviously less dangerous. Did a lot of half reps and 1rms back when i was younger, still never got injured. I have mates who got injured while training the same way, but not me.
Never gonna do peds bro that shit kills the essence of lifting for fun/enjoyment.

I remember hearing the advice in jr high from a coach. I was very big and strongest on our football team. His summer advice was.. fat loss is the biggest performance enhancer. I spent the entire summer working on diet and conditioning. I was able to blow away just about everyone at every level except the ones who were just naturally gifted and had to do nothing but show up. So i fully understand the leanness and weight training for performance ratings
