      Same, I bought the slanted squating platform... and started from scratch, just body weight, up to 140lbs now; every other day to failure for a few sets.. as well as pulling the sled once a week. Because of my knee pain from running in my teens/20s, I thought I was just done for, nothing helped; no amount of rest fixed the problem (despite doctors recommendations). These two things have eliminated the knee pain and made my whole lower body function better in general

    I owe Ben Patrick the recovery of my knee after a torn meniscus, I spent one year after surgery in pain, limping, knee brace, sometimes a cane, and none of the doctors and physiotherapists I saw helped me. I tried everything I could, saw him on a JRE episode where he recommended to walk backwards for 15mins a few days, I thought it was crazy but I tried it anyway, the pain was almost completely gone, and I didn't have the limp, to wear the knee brace, or the cane, I signed up for his ATG program, and after 3 months I was able to run, do boxing, and fully healed. I love this guy!

    • @dpo357
      @dpo357 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@deebop3539 Give it a try, walk backwards for a week for 10mins a day, start with a low difficulty (no slope, slow and steady speed), and work your way up if you can, chose the intensity wisely keeping in mind that at no point it should be a painful exercise. Quick tip, push with your heels, not toes, you should focus on activating the quads, not the calves.
      After my first attempt I immediately noticed the increased stability in the knees, like if everything was tighter in a good way, it's hard to describe.
      I encourage you to go try it and return in a week and report back :)

      @@TheKneesovertoesguy I have very minimal patellar space if any at all, shrapnel tore through my meniscus and my ACL. I ran in my 20s, but I never squatted and dead lifted or did any leg exercises except jump on my runs. I used to love jumping. I had a good vertical for 6 foot. I was a good sprinter too in the 40 yard dash 4.5 seconds at 200 lbs. Anyways, I started squatting and doing leg exercise exercises like dead lift as well about seven years ago.
      The range of motion in my right knee is lacking and it’s getting worse.

    Has some knee pain for months after being bed ridden for weeks from a pretty serious surgery in early 2022. Found KneesOverToesGuy, I started walking backwards on rural roads with my dog walks. Increasing the intervals of backwards and also larger hills and inclines. Added a weight vest gradually increasing the weight. 100 plus miles later going into the fall, my legs were stronger than before and knee pain gone. Now of course i have added hypertrophy resistance training into my life and not coasting off former athletic career. I use the RP diet app and bust my ass in the gym. At 38 i have never felt better. • @ashscott6068
      @ashscott6068 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Well, almost all of them are not really ATG exercises. They had other names before. I don't think it matters though, anyways. I don't think the app is programmed with things like the SFR of each exercise. I think it figures it out from the data you enter from your workouts over time, since different people likely have a different SFR from the same exercise. I haven't used the app, but I'd assume there's a way to add your own title to an exercise, along with which muscles it works, so the app can program it and adjust the program based on your feedback about soreness and fatigue and such.

    I suffer from chronic knee pain-doctors say I have the knees of a 68-year-old. Chronic pain isn’t just physical; it consumes your thoughts. When you’re alone, it’s always there, an unrelenting companion.
    The doctors blamed genetics and said there’s nothing to be done. They suggested the gym but gave no guidance, so I spent my savings on trainers with no results. Now I can’t afford help, and the pain is still with me.

    From my experience every single physiotherapist with a recent degree or who has received a recent catch up course on the latest science is implementing progressive overload to reinforce injured tissue
    My mom broke her arm this year, with ulnar bone head pulverised at the wrist, the prescription was to restrict the movements but not immobilise the wrist : No plaster cast, but a flexible splinter instead; With regular reinforcement session with a professional
    Every single physio i've seen for my knee, my hamstring or even my disc inflammation prescribed a set of progressively overloading program of exercises
    Things are going in the right direction providing the future generation of docs get into the position to deprogram the people's belief and current generations of doctors are willing to update their data and operate changes in their prescriptions

    This episode is pure gold! I've always admired Ben's work, but this was the first talk that truly gave me insight into the challenges he's faced. His personality resonates deeply with mine, and his experience motivates me to keep working out and to pursue the right approach. Thank you for this!

    Collab that needed to happen. I'm glad for this message of confronting the movements you thought you couldn't do with gradual progression into harder expressions of that movement. I was told very directly in my early 20s that I'd never lift even modest weight overhead by a couple very well trained and I'd like to think well-meaning orthos. I believed that up until this last year when I started my weight lifting journey. Now I can properly strict press 135 for reps and I can see bodyweight ohp for reps somewhere in 2025.

    Great interview. I’ve been nursing a hand/grip injury for months. I spent months basically trying to do nothing with the hand if I could help it, and made zero progress. Over the last month I started doing dumbbell wrist curls and reverse wrist curls at the end of my workouts. It’s improved immensely.

    You could see the pain in his eyes as he talked about his story. The relationship we have with our bodies in our formative early years is a powerful one that can change the course of our life. It can alter everything. If you're reading this bro, just want to say that I'm sorry you had to go through this. And thanks for turning your pain into motivation to help others! ✊

    This video couldn't have come out at a better time. I have had some knee pain (Baker's cyst in the back of the knee, and a strain of the patellar tendon), saw a doctor, and what I got was "avoid bending the knee, don't squat or kneel if possible, limit going up the stairs, etc." The way he said that made me feel like I was going to be handicapped in a way, for the rest of my life. I've skipped leg day for a couple of months (until I had no pain in patellar tendon), then I started coming back slowly; the only time I felt pain was when I ramped up the weight too quickly or trained legs too quickly after the previous session. Having watched this video, I know that my approach has been correct, and that you can get better if you just keep pushing, even if just little by little. Thanks!

    I have never given money to this guy, but just from the free stuff he puts online, and similar channels like Squat University, I was able to rehabilitate a damaged meniscus from a point when I would wake up in the morning with swelling that would limit my range of motion, to waking up pain free and squatting 225 deep for reps just last week. Completely changed the trajectory of my health since last year. 29 years old and I just want the next few decades of my life to be pain free and fun.
