I believe that room was the “ex’s” room, so she was burning his room down, not her own! :) society painted her out to be an obsessed ex-girlfriend so she really played into that and gave the performance of a lifetime in this video.

I heard around that whole video was kinda inspired by the film “Jennifer’s Body” especially the water scene.
it really reminds me of the movie "Sugar and Spice" about the criminal cheerleaders even their uniforms were blue but I don't think that movie is very well known with zoomers considering I don't think most of them were born when it came out lol

The reason I freaking love your reactions are because you don’t only focus on the background but also the lyrics and video! You understand the image she’s giving us and the little, almost like puzzle pieces, in the songs. You get so invested in it! But I’m really getting early 2000’s from this. Almost like the conceited popular girl in high school that goes crazy after her breakup. Also I don’t know but I thought of Jennifer’s body when I first watched the video. I love the vibes it gives off and the story! This song has been on repeat since I’ve heard it!

I'm so happy a reactor finally mentioned how amazing her acting is in this video. The part after "like a damn sociopath" hit *different*. She plays a crazy person scarily well. Especially when she went from jumping around to the parts where she was spinning/modeling and looked completely fine and happy. I don't know why I liked it so much, but it's just mind-boggling how incredibly talented she is.

I have been waiting for this since the music video came out
The room was a metaphor for her drowning I think. Because she sings several times about crying on her bedroom floor, but she has too much water at her feet. It's like she is drowning in her own tears. But the fire on the curtains shows that she can't escape the emotions. Outside of her room is just as bad as the floor.

I don’t know if you caught the Jennifer’s Body reference at the end. It’s a Megan Fox movie (one of my favs), and you should check out the clip
The end of the music video where she's got glowing eyes and swims away in the lake is actually a reference to the movie Jennifer's Body. That's one of the iconic shots from the movie. There's also apparently references to another horror movie called Audition from 1999 (the opening sequence with all the phones is supposed to be a modernized version of scenes from it) and the long black gloves she wears are nearly identical to the ones the "crazy ex girlfriend" uses in the movie. Also the cheerleader outfit is identical to the cheerleader outfit the mean girl, Lana from The Princess Diaries wears (and someone pointed out that that character in The Princess Diaries and the main character, Mia fight over a guy with the same name as Olivia's ex, Josh). Also the singing in front of a blazing fire can be a reference to Jennifer's Body or the Picture to Burn by Taylor Swift music video (and she's a huge Taylor Swift fan). I love that they put SO many references into one music video
