it's such a shock to me after living through how people used to react to other female artists esp taylor swift. not used to seeing people treat teenage girl musicians w actual respect lol it's definitely refreshing.
That’s literally what I was thinking like I am in a loop just watching reactions to Olivia’s music and the first person I watched was like “her music sounds great but it’s not really something you should think that deeply about as a teen” and I was low key mad lmao but started watching more male reaction channels and I am just smiling here like an idiot as I watch them freak out and appreciate Olivia’s music
50 year old male here. Artists like Liv transcend normal sexual politics. Many of us have experienced this kind of pain, and the I am waiting....waiting......to consume everything she puts out. She is on another level! Goosebumps, shivers, and multiple cries...especially on Hope you're o.k.
as a 17 year old girl, this album came out at the perfect time for me, and i’ve been watching olivia since her american girl doll days, then HSMTMTS, and now her debut album is out. i love it
“Address the letters to the holes in my butterfly wings” a butterfly can’t really fly with holes in its wings, so by getting this closure and moving past all these bad things that have happened, she’s saying she can finally fly.
Also just thought that the last part might be her talking to herself, saying she loves herself now and hopes she will be okay and be ready to fly again, but I might be reaching here
‘1 step forward, 3 steps back’ is actually self-written by Olivia. Taylor and Jack have writing credits cause she interpolated New Year’s Day by Taylor.
Omg i just realized this when u were talking about it but Olivia gave all of the celebs letters at the Brit awards letters that had “hope ur ok” written on the front of them... like the last song where she’s ”addressing the letters” to people she loves, SHE IS LITERALLY A GENIUS OMG
The last song is sort of Olivia moving on from heartbreak, realising there’s people out there being dealt worse hands in life, yet being strong and preserving through it all. Olivia appreciating that probably gives her hope she’ll be okay too.
@@alexcooney2564 yes. the second person she talks about in the song, the girl, obviously is apart of the lgbtq+ community hence the line “her parents hated who she loved”. the line “address the letters to the holes in my butterfly wings” means that olivia needs that closure that her old friends are okay, so that she can fly because a butterfly can’t fly with holes in its wings. she feels empty not knowing for sure that they’re doing okay and in a way guilty.
I feel like throughout this album, she was going through the different stages of breakup. Her album is genius. It's such an amazing album, and I love how much you respect and love Olivia. Her voice is amazing and her writing lyrics ability is absolutely amazing
I’m really not over Traitor and Happier and I don’t think I ever will. When she said “Took you two weeks to go off and date her, guess you didn’t cheat but your still a traitor” my jaw dropped. Not even because of the drama, because of how amazing the lyricism is-

i mean the scammys have let us down multiple times before, i wouldn't be surprised if they let us down again but seriously if she doesn't get one .... there's gonna be crime takin place 😩
i think “hope ur ok” is her message to the lgbtq+ community. when she says “his parents cared more about the bible than being good to their own child, he wears long sleeves cause of his dad” and “her parents hated who she loved” and “with the courage to unlearn all the hatred”. she could also be spreading awareness about child abuse too with the first verse.
As a child who grew up watching other children get beat up and experience emotinal violence and watched her mother get beat up and experience emotional violence I agree with the last part.
Yeah I like that it can be interpreted different ways but I definitely see it as her friend's parents being anti LGBTQ, and her other friends' parents being physically abusive (or maybe both)
@@misukiylambertson2764 Yeah I agree. It's just that even though it's obvious to us, some people may see it differently (like the long sleeves part, maybe instead of abuse they'd think of hiding their body bc of modesty or something), Idk lol.

As a 17 year old myself, even though I can’t relate to the relationships I definitely understand how it feels to compare yourself to other people and just be tired of life in general.
Nothing better than loving something so much and then finding someone else who is just as excited about it as you are. I get so excited for your reactions to her songs
MICHAEL, MICHAEEEEEL, "address the letters to the hole in my butterfly wings." She gave letters with butterflies on them in the BRITS, the ones that SAID "hope ur ok", WHAT'S INSIDE OF THOSE LETTERSSSSSS????
I am more excited for this than my own birthday
has he not heard there “I love you” between the chorus and the verse in deja vu still😭
Ahh The first time I noticed I was listening to music and class and I yelled oh my God I saw her talking about it was like I can’t hear it I was so mad
2 years later and I just realized 😂
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE TURN IT UP
when she said 4 hands bloody, it remembers me so much to the saying "hurt me once it's on you, hurt me twice its on me" and its killing me.
This is the first album I’ve purchased since Taylor Swift’s 1989, and I feel like I’m back in high school listening to it. It’s amazing. Olivia is an incredible artist.
YES i've been waiting for this all day ngl
I'm convinced she puts something in her songs, every song just like sends something straight to my brain...whatever she has it undeniably makes all her songs literally amazing
SOUR - Stages Of Unhappy Relationships
(this hasn't been confirmed but it's quite a popular theory)
THANK YOU!THANK YOU!THANK YOU!
I feel like Happier is such an underrated song! I cried when I first heard it, it just hits you some type of way, and I’ve seen a lot of people say its one of their least favorite song and I’m like HOW!?
I love how giddy and riled up u we’re about her and her finding herself and her self worth and it’s like ur a proud dad haha 😅 but this is hands down the best album ever she killed it
the thumbnail is the cutest thing ever omfg
bro! I've watched a view album reaction videos on sour by now but hands down yours was the most beautiful one! The way you analyzed the lyrics, highlighting the little details she chose to tell her story by and the composition of the album as a whole - I'm left speechless! You made me fall in love with the beautiful masterpiece even more :)
YES definitely one of the best video album reactions. The way you went into detail and broke down the lyrics.
'hope ur ok' made me cry like a baby the first time i heard it.
In an interview she said that “Hope he took his bad deal and made a royal flush” from hope ur ok is one of her favourite lines from the album
I don’t know what I love more
Olivia herself or how much he loves olivia
i really dont know why im crying this much to hope ur ok but like... i am... A LOT.
It’s the second verse for me that makes me cry bc I relate ✌🏼✌🏼

Olivia is such an amazing singwriter and artist! there is so much emotions in her voice on this album.... Favorite crime and Hope ur ok - those songs hit just different , they are magical and beautiful. Whole album is just amazing
Every song is a masterpiece: the lyrics, the vocals, the vibe, the talent, EVERYTHING.
the first video of yours i watched was drivers license reaction, such a full circle moment
Not me eating lays chedder and sour cream chips and listening to people react to this album because I loved it so much I got to experience it for the first time more than once
the fact that she wrote the entire "enough for u" and "happier" all by herself aahhhh she's genius 😭😭💜
This is officially my new break up playlist 😭💕💕
my favorite reactor and my favorite reaction, im so glad you went into such a deep analysis of the album, im so proud of her :’) the muffled audio in the last track is Olivia and Dan (her producer) talking about restarting the album (im pretty sure), another wonderful video, thank you!!
I love how you paid attention to the lyrics! I've been watching other people react to her album and you're the first one who did pay attention to all the details of her lyrics and it's amazing...
I am SO glad someone else picked up on the New Year's Day tune!
When she was younger she did live singing competitions so I think that is how she was able to just go full force on her live performances as big as she is now
There is an Olivia Rodrigo x Sour patch collab coming soon!
did i stay up til 5am to watch this on patreon? yes. am i watching it again? also yes
I'm so excited!!!! I've waiting for your reaction to her album
