After a neighborhood wide power outage, my GE model WHRE5550K2WW washer continued to function in most respects but would not spin. After various online research and troubleshooting, I was convinced that some component in the relay had failed due to power surge. Unfortunately, the relay board must be purchased as a unit with the motor.
I ordered "WH20X10076 GE Washing Machine Inverter Drive Motor " via ebay and it came with a jumper wire with instructions to replace an in-line fuse in the wiring harness. On mine, I had to remove some black electrical tape to see/access the black shrink wrap surrounding the in-line fuse in the (white w/ red stripe) wire (upper, right hand side while facing the front of the washer). This is in the harness bundle between the front of the motor and the upper RH corner of the machine.
After installing the new motor (including eliminating the in-line fuse as directed) and testing proper operation, before discarding the old motor, I tested the in-line fuse and found no continuity.
I'm going to keep my old motor as a spare and have too many things on my plate just now to bother re-installing the original motor to test operation, but I strongly suspect that my replacement motor was unnecessary and simply replacing or eliminating the in-line fuse would have rectified my issue.
Note; my new motor was not identical to my old motor in that the wire connectors were not configured exactly the same. This was not an issue for installation or operation but leaves me wondering about the rational/wisdom/necessity of eliminating a functional in-line fuse

My GE washer washes but when it's time to spin it starts then stops or goes into a spin but not fast enough to drain all the water out. I tried unhooking the air tube from the tub and blew into it to clear any dust, this seemed to fix the issue but only temporarily. The belt is not broken. I'm at a lost. I dont want to purchase a new washer if it cheaper to repair this one. Please offer your professional advise.

I replaced the door switch and it spinned for 10 wash loads. Now it won’t spin again. It agitates and drains fine. Just as it’s ready to spin it kicks the drum but won’t spin. Do you think it could be the clutch?

Hey angel, is a new clutch pulley supposed to spin in dependant of the hub? I got two already from one supplier that both do this, so when the motor spins clockwise for the spin cycle, the pulley/belt/tub don't spin, just the motor and clutch hub. Thanks

I have not work on one of those in a while. When the motor runs in any direction centrifugal force make the clutch shoes to expand and grab the clutch drum and the clutch drum turns the belt in the direction that the motor is running.
The belt turns the transmission according to the direction that the motor is turning the clutch. So if the motor is turning the clutch and the clutch is turning the belt and the belt is turning the transmission pulley correctly, then the problem is in the transmission The transmission has a spring that when the transmission pulley turns the spring in one direction it makes the transmission spin and when it turns in the other direction it slips and the washer agitates.

And reseting it by unplugging it waiting for a minute, then plugging it back in and opening and closing it 6 times in 6 seconds.
