There's no doubt this guy is possibly the best car builder today he comes up with unique ideas on paper and is able to make real running and drivable cars
l just want to start by saying thanks for putting this together, and then showing the behind the scenes to what goes into them, l learned alot, l work mostly with scrap but would love to get into starting with new mat, thanks for the insperation, your a awesome artist,,
Saw Randy Grubbs amazing Decoliner on Jay Leno’s garage. It’s truly amazing that he can do this kind of work on LSD! (I keed!,I keed!) Heard he sold the Decoliner for half a million dollars! Good for him!
This this is so significant. It is a true paradigm shift. It shows that one does not need to amass a fortune through the use of slave labor to create something that is functional beautiful and an art form that will live into the next centuries. I can't tell you now enamored I am with the Fallacy body style mimicked by this artist in a most beautiful way. If one could fall in love with metal this is the metal I would fall in love with.
Awesome story! I've heard of Randy Grubb. The first time I heard of Randy Grubb was on the TH-cam channel Jay Leno's Garage. He's brought on some awesome vehicles. My favourite was an early 1960 Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter dubbed the *"Volkstream".* 🙂
What an amazing Builder sheet metal to him is like clay to a Sculptor oil and acrylic to a painter I seen him on the Jay Leno show he just seems like they happiest fabricator in the world keep bending Metal Man
Who are the six LOSERS that voted thumbs down on this AWESOME retrospective of artisan automotive acumen? This is one of the best productions I have ever seen. Happy New Year 2018!
Love the design , it looks fantastic and a great show bike. . I was a Sportster rider before and I could not put my arms in those holes to ride in fear of ripping off my arms to even a small collision. Air plane builders would love your talent for making nose bowls and other part. I follow all of your creations now and like your tutorials.
17:45 The great thing about that helmet is that it keeps the aliens from stealing your brain waves and the worst part about it is, it makes you a Tesla coil in a rain storm. Hey you kids get off my lawn! xD
This guy is a 24 Carat, design, engineering, & fabrication genius. But what REALLY makes him and his creations so fantastically unique & awesome is his sense of design aesthetic, and one can visualise Art-Deco, Steampunk, Dieselpunk, Streamliner, & other influences, and films like Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" and 2004's "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" as inspirations reflected in his gorgeous & individual machines. Their styling is reminiscent of visionary dreams from the early 1900's visualising how they imagined the world of the future in the year 2000 and beyond would appear. Unfortunately reality deviated somewhat from their magnificent visions, as our present has little resemblance to the future they perceived we would be living in. Imagine our reality if it looked more like the world that inspired Randy's creations, with "Deco-Machines" like the DecoPods & DecoLiner, and inventor Buckminster Fuller's 1938 "Dymaxion" (Google it...looks AMAZING!!!) zipping about in our cities and on our highways. Would have been a MUCH kooler world than the one we know, filled mostly with bland, functional, artistically uninspiring generic vehicles that all look like a Toyota Camry or any modern hatchback you care to name, as variations of the same lame theme. Love what goes on in Mister Grubb's magnificent & fertile mind, and that he has the skill to bring his visions to life. Outstanding!
What a fantastic view into your skillful working world of creativity with your friend. Please tell us that your isolated the copper decorative elements from the aluminum. As Cu & Al. are each at the opposite ends of the galvanic scale of electrolysis.
Incredible stuff, a real inspiration. the only other use of quarter elliptical springs I know of, were Roesch designed talbot sports cars of the early thirties. Just wanted to get my geek on!
Randy is currently at work on “The Decopede”,a long, segmented streamlined 8 passenger car with 16 wheels. He claims he was inspired to create the “Decopede” when, while high on magic mushrooms,Howard Hughes appeared before him and told him “This needs to be built, you need to be the one to do it” as he watched centipedes climb a tree.
Looking forward to see your next projects! How about you place 10 or so gopros around your shop, and stream your work day to twitch? Would generate a lot of revenue for yourself and also give you a ton of footage to make these videos with.
Hey Randy really love the work you do. I too am totally taken by the awesome styling of the "streamline modern era" which it seems to me that you may get your inspiration from. I just purchased a 1946 Spartan Manor camper to be restored and wondered if you ever saw or thought of any cool mods that would intensify the style it already already has going. I was thinking about adding a gin to the tear drop rear section maybe two one on each side of the rear window. Any thoughts???
Hallo Randy, this is very cool ,absolutely unique. Nice job. My name is Gyula ,and I live in Colombia , South America . I am a fabricator as well . I was just wondering if you planning or already have some ideas in your mined to sell this ideas as a plan ,therefor people can build this bikes all over the globe after your original idea. Thanks .
If I was a rich guy..... I would put A large vertical tail Fin in the center of my 1971 Karmann Ghia’s Trunk Lid ...! With a Chrome pointed nose cone on its already pointed front.....! But it is my only sled....!
i dig your 60s vibe .my generation tried .'make love not war and give peace a chance'.but 'the establishment said'kill people make war and they did against our own people.kids today have no clue what kent state means!
I just bought an 88 Aero Cruiser.. same design as the FMC/ with a GM front wheel drive.. but on a one ton Mopar chassis.. single rear axle with a single wheel on each side... same air bag suspension for the coach.. it's a lot like an overgrown VW bus with a V8... makes lots of noise... slowly 😉
I make a metal you should have, brother... called mithiril by Tolkien.. an alloy of palladium.. from the white volcanic ash found almost everywhere... it's basically free.. which cuts production costs nicely.. it doesn't oxidize.. you can get really nice clean welds with no gas... light as aluminum.. but with a double covalent bond in the unit cells and a metallic bond holding the unit cells together.. it can be bent over and over again and it doesn't break.. melting point above 1550° C... now.. bioplastic from the same dust.. add 10% borax to kaolinite clay... heat existing aluminum parts evenly in the dust>> with a propane torch for easy AuPd. take an old cardboard box.. saturate with Elmer's glue and add the dust with borax... which acts as a flux.. carries the AuPd through the fibers of cardboard.. it dries as hard as concrete.. still as light as cardboard... add food coloring to the glue for something other than the cardboard box look.. spray with shellac to waterproof... otherwise... it just melts.. biodegradable.. non toxic.. guaranteed by 50 bazillion school kids
while the glue is wet... I put AuPd foil on one side.. the outside makes it waterproof.. light as cardboard... it's going to be my floors and cabin structure for my dirigibles... I've been really sick for a long time... development was done during moments of better health.. I did factory floor automation for Boeing.. making their high tech fiber and aluminum stuff for aircraft... and worked for Raytheon building infrastructure.. petroleum plants .. cereal factories.. my dad taught reactor physics when I was in high school... this is an ongoing part of his research
my best friend and business partner is up on the slopes of Mt Hood... we lived near Medford when I was at SOSU Ashland.. my son was 3.. 30 years ago.. a pleasure to see your work 🤠
You sure do have one great mind on how you just build what you like. I did body work learned on my own. I would work for ya on project build plus learn from the best. I do wonder how much you made me one of your custom helmets? 😀😎 Happy New Year. 🤗👾🤖👽🙌🖖✌
I have been a metal guy for years. You have more talent in one little finger than I have come up with in 38 years of metal fab. Respect.
Deco is the ultimate art always was and always will be deco...

Only a Tesla coil if you're on top of a mountain, otherwise you' be the lowest object around lol
The copper looks fantastic

The 1934 Indy 500 Boyle car that won the race had 1/4 elliptical springs as well. great minds think alike.

Learn from the past and build on that, the guy is a genius
Damn... No gloves on that power hammer? That's a bold strategy Cotton! Lol

That being said, I'd own them all hah
I would love to see what Randy's interpretation of the Dymaxion car would be.
If I was a rich guy.....
I would put A large vertical tail Fin in the center of my 1971 Karmann Ghia’s Trunk Lid ...!
With a Chrome pointed nose cone on its already pointed front.....! But it is my only sled....!
Imagine everyone on these instead of cars 😃

Would I be wrong in saying the design language/ vehicle inspiration is DieselPunk ?
doing what you love ,and obviously making $$$$ as well, just not right ! HA what ever your smoking keep doing it !!
