    I am still for the S23 Ultra. These days it is mostly about preference. Both are amazing devices. Wife is iPhone and I am former iPhone but have loved the seemingly endless customization of Android and it is hard to give that up. I can made it look and behave exactly how I want it to and easily change themes on the fly so I don't get bored so easily with my phone. Also love my Samsung zoom camera. Wife borrows my phone often when we go out. IPhone is a status symbol for some which I don't understand. I am not one to necessarily follow the crowd. I don't like the iPhone notch which they renamed Dynamic Island. Still a distracting notch in my book. But again, a matter of preferences.

      Has breaking away from imessage not been an issue with your spouse still using iphone? what about loss of airdrop and facetime? unfortunately there are several sacrifices you're forced to make. I don't see my wife ever giving up her iphone and over 95% of my frequent contacts use iphone so I feel pretty stuck.

    • @daverose5191
      @daverose5191 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @@justinbpriceI don't feel I made any sacrifices switching to Android. I have had no issues texting any of my iPhone friends including my spouse. We text each other just the same. Just the bubble color changed to green on the iPhones. But if I want the blue bubble again I can just create it. LOL! I can share photos and documents by link, QR code, OR even share directly by email, text, or direct download. As far as FaceTime, I don't do much of that. But if I did there is other options like Google which is cross platform. It is Apple that insists on being to proprietary right from the start. We had the first iPhone where they designed the ports where you had to buy their plug in earphones. That's Apple's marketing. There is a whole world out there besides iPhone.

      I used to think that too mate , and it is nice too be sure, but it is not everything.
      I own both platforms and was a galaxy note boy from the note 2 , ( and still use my note 9 today)but despite some of IOS being bloody annoying with some its little quirks at times , it does have some very good points , and I don’t give a shit about bubble colour, and in all honesty I still use my iphones (12 and 14 pro max )more like android phones😀, as for the walled garden that apple is famous for that some see as a downer ,
      I actually think it is a good thing for some important reasons . For a start , anyone that’s downloaded app’s from googles play store has probably had experience with masses of annoying pop ups , and even some apps and even some android launchers have been found to be nefarious or decidedly dodgy for years .
      Having been on the dark side for heading for 3 years now , I have had no such issues with apples App Store , and have no problem getting stuff from it , while on the google play store I stopped downloading some years ago because of risk and a lack of confidence using it.
      In the end, both platforms have good and bad points, and when my old note finally dies I don’t think I’ll replace it with another galaxy , , as some of the features I bought my note 9 for you no longer get on the watered down S Ultra , the iPhone while being a bit behind in some areas still gets most of the basics right , nice loud speakers, nice screen, good performance, I actually use the mute button, so that’s handy while we still have it , MagSafe I initially thought was a gimmick turns out I use it every single day, Apple Pay works very nicely, the camera and video are still very good despite not having the best zoom , and in my use I get often a day and half before having to charge it.
      Also if my iPhone phone is on charge in the bedroom and I’m using my MacBook or iPad and I get a phone call , it comes through on both devices and I can just take the call like normal on either device .
      Again while apple does annoy the shit out of me with the odd IOS quirk , it has way more good points , and for those I like it.

    I agree with everything but the ecosystem. I've been using Samsung flagships and products my entire life, but after recently switching to the Apple ecosystem I am blown away by how tight and well integrated it is. It's the small things. For example I was starting a video chat on Discord when all of a sudden it prompted me to use my iPhone as a webcam. Or how the iPhone automatically added and configured itself when I set it up to all settings from my other Apple devices without doing anything.
    Samsung's ecosystem is definitely improving rapidly, but for now it doesn't go far beyond nice animations and quick pairing between devices.

    • @avaraz6941
      @avaraz6941 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I totally agree with you, but it's because apple products works with nothing else than apple that it works so greatly. For example, Samsung watch can work with every android phone, being Huawei, Pocco, etc, And Iphones. With the apple watch, you lose a lot of perks if you have an android phone. So it's kind of easy to make a seamless integration when you only have to make it work with your own products.

    I own both an iPhone and a Samsung, so I'm not even particularly biased toward either side. But objectively speaking, the S23U is overall a much better device. The better design, higher resolution, S pen capabilities, much smaller hole punch, and better zoom are all big selling points for the Galaxy. When you compare in terms of features and capabilities, the regular S23 is a much closer competitor to the 14 pro. But even then, I'd say the S23 still beats it AND for a lower price point at that.
    Sure, in the past Samsung had always been behind Apple in terms of software support and battery life. But those days are now over as they've pretty much caught up in that regard. Honestly, there's really no point in going for the iPhone unless you're already deeply invested in the iOS ecosystem. Like i said earlier I'm trying to be as unbiased as I can here, but Samsung just offers way more for your money compared to iPhone and its not even debatable.

    Love both phones, I've been an android user my whole life, and unlike the apple fanboys are saying, no, none of my phones started lagging after 1year. They have so much RAM (much more than apple in fact), that they *can't* lag.
    Anyway, I'm interested in switching to apple one day, because I want to change a little, and see what apple offers with their OS.
    Problem is, they haven't done anything significant in the last... few years, the Iphone 14 is just copy of the Iphone 10.. The only thing that changed from the 13 to the 14 is "dynamic island", which is more of a gimmick than a feature, I still don't see it's use. Compared to the added S-pen that the s23 brings , which is a game changer.
    So I'm still waiting for Apple to finally do something new, "innovate", like samsung did with the Fold, Flip, or the new 200MP camera on their phones, but apple fans are still satisfied with the same basic phone every year so I guess Apple isn't going to innovates soon, because they don't need to. That's such a shame.

It is the best, most reliable phone I've ever had and I've waited and waited for something to break down, slow down, or freeze up, before I'd consider getting a new phone. While my reliable S8 is still going strong, after watching this review and doing some other research, I'm planning to get an S23 Ultra but I won't be trading in my S8. I plan to continue holding onto it until the wheels fall off. The only thing that has deteriorated on the S8 is the quality of the photos and videos but am concerned those wheels may come off at an inconvenient time so I need to upgrade sooner rather than later. The only thing I never liked is the irritating built-in Bixby assistance and how easily it is to accidently push the side button and have Bixby offer to help me, but I've learned to live with that. Anyway, I'm finally looking forward to a phone that appears to be just as fantastic as my S8 was when I bought it.

    In the smartphone area they are pretty evenly matched. While Apple made significant software improvements in addition of new features and improving the areas where they already had a lead like app optimization and integration, Samsung made some significant improvements in the hardware area with huge battery improvements, video shooting and ofc only improved on their lead in the zoom capabilities. Samsung also made huge changes in their inttegration with other devices. Their ecosystem feels a lot like Apple's ecosystem. What they are not on par with Apple is their other devices. Their laptops are nowhere near Apple's MB in terms of performans, battery life, display, sound, built qualit and so on. Their smartwatches are also not as good and they have no challenge for the Ultra watch. In the case of tablets they are also behind Apple. I'm sure Samsung is working on them as well but as of now they are not there.

      Everything was good till you said other devices, The watches, earbuds, and laptops are better in their way, the watches have a more watch-like feel, cause of the screen, and weight (depending on what option u get). The displays are equal, both almost 4k, high nits, and very large displays. Earbuds are both equally good with, sound quality, and battery life. Did not mean this to attack you in any way just putting my knowledge of Samsung to the little amount of knowledge I have about Apple, but I did look some things up for comparison, hopefully this helps your pov of samsung.

    • @ulikemyname6744
      @ulikemyname6744 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Chris-su5kx Samsung has some great smartwatches. The problem is at the top end. Simply nothing beats the Ultra watch. When the comment was made there the best samsung watch was the Watch 5 Pro. The 6-series are out but there isn't a 6 pro yet. And compared to the Watch 5 Pro it is really a no brainer. The Ultra has features that the 5 Pro simply doesn't have like the siren, emergency call when you get into an accident, a sensor to measure the depth when diving and so on. In the cases of similarities the Ultra has much bigger and superior speaker and also better microphones. Apple smartwatches are generally considered to be some of the best when you measure things like when you sleep or your hearthrate. So at the top-end is where Samsung lacks.
      In laptops Apple is simply superior. When it comes to performance in general. IIt is well known that Apple uses their own chips. These chips are based on ARM instead of x86. Laptops are mobile devices and for all devices that are not stationary ARM is superior. The advantage in battery life is simply undeniable. MBs can last several times longer and the more intensive the task is the longer it lasts. Moreover this translates into less heat. Ofc if you have less wattage you have less heat. This means that Apple not only leads in the top-end performance but also can sustain that performance. Windows laptops are simply unable to sustain performance for too long especially slim and light machines. Again this is more of an Intel/AMD problem but unless Samsung start making their own chips that's their problem as well.
      Earbuds are generally equal.

      Battery is def one the most things a laptop would need to focus on to the specs they are giving/have with the model, def can say apple has that tucked in and well aware they are superior on the OS helping not use ALLOT of power and able to last 1 to even 2 days depending on how much you use it, higher end windows laptops usually do cause of the power hungry gpu and cpus now.
      And I wonder how the new watch 6 classic, dont think its much better accept ram and it being classic, but hopefully the 7 will get it par or at least much better with features and small little random options that could help a specific person like with the depth feature you said. I did see a video of the watch 6 that they improved the sleep functions and I think some workout functions so hopefully they will keep improving in this.

    First off, GREAT review! I’ve always been a Samsung fan, periodically I would switch to iPhone until the latest Samsung flagship would come out. I’ve been with iPhone since the 13PM and now with the 14PM. I loved the S22 ultra, but the thing that made me want to stay with iPhone so far is the display, speakers, iMessage and AirPod features. I watch A LOT of movies/tv shows on my phone so the speaker difference was big for me, but I think Samsung is a little better as far as customization and camera. I WILL be getting the new Galaxy Fold 2024, if the camera is better than last years, for sure!

      @@Nathan-qn4pc you could use the EQ setting on the s23 ultra to help strengthen the quality. Eg tuning to make a deeper bass but I get it when Samsung makes those changes the products will really shine. The Galaxy offers so much more usability-/productivity option. Offerst far more/better personalization options, better gaming- and multi-media experience and more innovation.
    This is what the Ultra offers that the iPhone doesn't: DEX, S-Pen, Multi-Window, Multi-Tasking, inscreen fingerprint scanner, KNOX, file-manager, integration with X-box live, Windows and Spotify. 10 x optical Zoom, Super RAW mode, 200 MP lens, 8K video at 24 fps, camera integration with TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, far better widgets and customization options (themes), fast charging (45 W)m reverse wireless charging and last but not least 100% integration of Samsung's eco-system SmartThings with Mercedes's MBUX Voice Assistant.
    Samsung's eco-system is much much larger with: refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, airco's, washing- and drying machines, tv's, soundbars, audio-systems (Harman Kardon), MBUX voice assistant from Mercedes/Maybach and so much more.

    I keep noticing some heavy Samsung bias in the comments and I think a lot of Samsung users feel the need to justify their purchase or brand by commenting on several of these comparison videos even though the iPhone just speaks with its sales volumes, while Samsungs best selling phone will be its mid tier phones like the a series even their best selling ones will sell less than apples worst selling phone. You’ll constantly see Samsung knights defending their brand without actually having used either phone listing the severest gimmicky features of the Samsung like unpaid Samsung salesmen. Funny thing it’s not just the Samsung knights too Samsung relies on a sad desperate advertising tactics to get iPhone users to switch. They make fun of Apple devices only to be caught with a scandal of their own or to copy the exact thing they made fun of. And it just makes Samsung look like this sad desperate brand trying to cling onto apples larger market share which is one of the personal reasons why I won’t use a Samsung ever. And the reason for the sales discrepancy being that iPhones are simply just better. They last longer they hold value longer I mean hell the iPhone X has had almost 6 years of updates and you can still sell it for 200-300usd no Samsung phone will give you that. People just want stability and iPhone gives you that. Unless you want a 1100 hole in you pocket every year this doesn’t matter to you. Honestly the only android phone I can respect or switch to is a pixel. Dunno why I went on this silly rant just felt the need to voice my thoughts
